Evaluation of Sodium Lactate and Potassium Lactate on the Quality Characteristics and Shelf-life of Low-fat Sausage during Refrigerated Storage (젖산나트륨과 젖산칼륨의 첨가가 냉동저장 중 저지방 소시지의 품질특성 및 저장성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was performed to investigate physicochemical and textural characteristics, and antimicrobial effect for Listeria monocytogenes (LM) in low-fat functional sausages (LFFS) containing sodium lactate (SL) and potassium lactate (PL) during storage at 4℃ for 10 weeks. The LFFS treatments included CTL (Low-fat sausage control), TRT1 (SL 3.3%), TRT2 (SL 2.2% + PL 1.1%), TRT3 (SL 1.1% + PL 2.2%), TRT4 (PL 3.3%). Proximate composition for LFFS were 73.9∼75.2% moisture, 1∼2% fat and 15.5∼15.9% protein, and pH values ranged from 5.8 to 6.5. Expressible moisture (EM, %) and vacuum purge (VP, %) ranged from 22.9 to 33.0 and from 2.7 to 5.3, respectively. EM of CTL, TRT1 and TRT2 increased with increased storage time, however, no differences in VP were observed during storage time. Hunter color values (L, a, b) were not affected by the addition of SL and PL, and storage time (p>0.05). Most textural properties of LFFS were not affected by the addition of SL and PL, except for few cases, but those of CTL tended to increase with increased storage time. The addition of SL and PL into LFFS, alone or in combination, inhibited the microbial growth of inoculated LM during refrigerated storage, resulting in longer shelf-life than the control.

  • The wave of 4PL added to strategic consulting based on new IT techniques, for example RFID, with logistics outsourcing through existing 3PL service is a great issue. It is also worthy of notice that EPCglobal network strengthen the role of 4PL. In conclusion, the 4PL system based on EPCglobal network will result in a good success, so it will raise a prestige of air cargo in Korea to a higher position. This study deals with the new logistics system, air cargo logistics system based on u-4PL system, RFID and EPCglobal network, that will bring many advantages.

  • Even though there are 256 possible 1-qudit(1-variable quantum digit) functions in quaternary logic, the most useful functions are 4!=24 ones capable of representing in QGFSOP expressions by possible permuting of 0,1,2, and 3. In this paper, we propose a permutational literal(PL) representation and a QPL(Quaternary PL) gate which use the operands of a multiplicand A and an augend D in $Ax^C$+D(GF4) operation as a control variable of multi-cascaded PLs. And we also present new PL synthesis algorithms to synthesize QGFSOP expressed 24 (1-qudit) functions by applying three PL operators as ab(mutual permutation), + D(addition), and XA (multiplication). Finally architectures, circuits, and a CMOS implementation to realize proposed PL synthesis algorithms for $Ax^C$+D(GF4) functions are presented.

Antioxidant Activity and Its Mechanism of Paeonia lactiflora Pall Extract

  • Paeonia lactiflora Pall (PL) has been used as a traditional herbal medicine in China, Korea, and Japan for more 1,200 years. PL has reported to have antioxidant activity and protective effect of cells from oxidative stress, although the mechanism has not been verified. FOXO3a is a transcription factor that binds to its target gene's consensus FOXO binding site. FOXO3a protein modulates the various biological functions including cell cycle control, apoptosis, DNA repair, and ROS detoxification. Therefore, FOXO3a activity is associated with cancer, aging, diabetes, infertility, neurodegeneration, and immune system dysfunction. Here we found that FOXO3a was activated by PL extract. Transcriptional target genes such as MnSOD, p27, and GADD45 were activated by PL extract. Protein levels of MnSOD and catalase were increased, consequently, ROS level was reduced in HEF cells by PL extract. These findings suggest that PL extract has an antioxidant activity through FOXO activation and thereby activation of FOXO target genes, MnSOD and catalase.

  • Approximate fibrations form a useful class of maps. By definition fibrators provide instant detection of maps in this class, and PL fibrators do the same in the PL category. We show that every closed s-hopfian t-aspherical manifold N with some algebraic conditions and X(N) $\neq$ 0 is a codimension-(2t + 2) PL fibrator.

  • 에피층을 이용하여 소자를 제작할 때 에피층의 품질은 그 소자의 성능에 결정적인 역할을 한다. 이러한 에피층의 결정성, 불순물의 종류 및 농도, 불순물의 에너지 준위, 조성 등을 평가 할 수 있는 방법으로 PL이 널리 사용되고 있다. 본 고에서는 MBE를 이용하여 GaAs, AlGaAs 층을 성장할 때 PL로 에피층을 평가하여 성장조건을 확립하기 위한 기초자료를 마련하고자 PL의 원리와 측정방법을 조사하고 MBE로 성장시킨 GaAs의 PL의 특성을 분석 정리하였다.

  • On November, 1998, Ministry of Finance and Economy in Korea announced officially to enforce the PL(Product Liability) Law within the country at the first half of the year 2000. Therefore, a companys responsibility for customers who are damaged by a defect in the products safety will be gradually strict and impose burden on management. This paper presents suggestions about PL prevention of domestic enterprise through the research of PL prevention strategies and prevention systems in the USA and Japanese leading enterprises.

Optical Properties of InAs Quantum Dots Grown by Using Arsenic Interruption Technique

  • GaAs (001) 기판에 MBE를 이용하여 자발형성법으로 성장한 InAs 양자점(QDs: quantum dots)의 광학적 특성을 PL (photoluminescence)과 TRPL (time-resolved PL)을 이용하여 분석하였다. InAs 양자점 성장 동안 In 공급은 계속하면서 As 공급을 주기적으로 차단과 공급을 반복하면서 성장하였다. As 차단과 공급을 1초, 2초, 그리고 3초씩 하면서 InAs 양자점을 성장하였다. 기준시료는 In과 As 공급을 중단하지 않고 20초 동안 성장하였다. As interruption mode로 성장한 시료들의 QD density는 기준시료에 비해 증가하였으며, size distribution도 기준시료에 비해 향상되었다. 기준시료와 비교하였을 때, As interruption mode로 성장한 시료들의 PL 피크는 적색이동 (red-shift)를 보였으며, PL 세기는 2배 이상 증가하였다. PL 소멸곡선은 파장이 증가함에 따라 점차 느려지다가 PL 피크에서 가장 느린 소멸을 보인 후 다시 점차 빠르게 소멸하였다. 시료의 온도를 10 K에서 60 K까지 증가하였을 때 PL 피크 에너지는 변하지 않았으며, PL 소멸시간은 서서히 증가함을 보였다. 온도를 더 증가하였을 때 PL 피크 에너지는 적색이동 하였으며 PL 소멸시간도 빠르게 감소함을 보였다. As interruption mode로 성장한 양자점 시료의 구조적 특성 변화에 의한 광학적 특성 변화를 확인하였다.

  • 분자선 에피탁시(molecular beam epitaxy)를 이용하여 GaAs 기판에 성장한 InAs 양자점(QDs: quantum dots)은 성장 온도, 압력, As/In의 공급비 등의 성장 조건에 따라 다른 변수(parameter)를 갖는다. 따라서 성장변수에 따라 양자점의 모양과 크기, 밀도가 달라져 균일한 양자점 형성에 어려움이 있어 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 예를 들면 In-interruption 법으로 성장한 양자점의 특성이 S-K mode (Stranski-Krastanov mode)로 성장한 양자점에 비해 광학적 특성이 향상되었다. 본 연구에서는 In pre-deposition (IPD) 법으로 성장한 InAs/GaAs 양자점의 광학적 특성을 PL(photoluminescence)와 TRPL (time-resolved PL)을 이용하여 분석하였다. InAs QDs 시료들은 In과 As 공급시간을 각각 1초와 19초 (QD1), 2초와 18초 (QD2), 3초와 17초 (QD3)로 조절하여 성장하였으며, In이 공급되는 시간 동안 As shutter를 차단하여 As 공급을 중단하였다. In과 As의 차단 없이 S-K mode로 성장한 시료를 기준시료로 사용하였다 (QD0). AFM (atomic force microscope) 측정결과, In 공급시간이 1초에서 2초로 증가할 때, 양자점의 밀도와 종횡비(aspect ratio)가 증가하였고, 양자점의 균일도가 증가하였다. 그러나 QD3 시료는 QD1 시료에 비해 밀도와 종횡비, 균일도가 감소하였다. 10 K에서 PL 피크는 In 공급 시간이 증가할 때, 970 nm에서 1020 nm로 적색편이 하였고 반치폭 (FWHM: full width at half maximum)은 75 meV에서 85 meV로 증가하였다. QD2 시료의 PL 피크 에너지가 가장 낮았고, 가장 강한 PL 세기를 보였다. IPD 시간이 증가함에 따라 PL 피크에서 측정한 PL 소멸은 점차 빨라졌다. IPD 기법으로 성장한 양자점의 빠른 PL 소멸은 양자점 밀도와 종횡비 향상에 의한 파동함수 중첩의 증가와 구속 에너지 증가에 의한 것으로 설명된다.

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the morphological and structual characters and the dry weight of plant (DW/pl.) concerned vegetational structure of orchardgrass pastures by the times of year, from 1 year to 7 year previous, 1986 through 1980, alternately. This experiment was carried out on the experimental fields of Yonsei University. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Population density (PD) was extremely decreased by the times of year. 2. Pasture productivity was highest at 3 year old pasture, was lowest at 5 year old pasture and was recovered at 7 year old pasture. 3. Recovery of pasture productivity was followed the increase of dry weight of plant (DW/pl.) and number of tillers per plant (NT/pl.). 4. The population density of 7 year old pasture was 14 plants per square meter. 5. The number of tillers per plant (NT/pl.), dry weight of plant (DW/pl.) piant length (PL), and plant size (PS) was frequently showed the highest values by the times of established year. 6. The stubble diameter (DIA), stubble area (SB), plant size (PS), distance between neibour plant (DIS) and leaf alea index (LAI) was increased according to the times of year. 7. The dry weight of plant (DW/pl.) was positively significant correlations with the number of tillers per plant (NT/pl.) all of the established pastures, but the dry weight of a tiller (WT) was tended to increase of correlations with the dry weight of plant (DW/pl.) by the times of year. 8. Differences between morphological and structual characters was recognized according to the times of year.
