  • In this paper, the efficient transmission technique of real time video data over 3G wireless networks is presented. To understand the transmission characteristic of 3G networks on real time video data, we implemented the data transport structure of 3G wireless networks. Also this research is based on current 3G wireless network specification of 3GPP, 3GPP2 standard organization to evaluate the result over real 3G wireless network environment. The retransmission by radio link layer results in the delay factor. To implement video data transmission efficiently, we Propose to use both no-retransmission and forward error correction method.

Cross-layer Optimized Vertical Handover Schemes between Mobile WiMAX and 3G Networks

  • Nowadays, wireless packet data services are provided over Wireless MAN (WMAN) at a high data service rate, while 3G cellular networks provide wide-area coverage at a low data service rate. The integration of mobile WiMAX and 3G networks is essential, to serve users requiring both high-speed wireless access as well as wide-area connectivity. In this paper, we propose a cross-layer optimization scheme for a vertical handover between mobile WiMAX and 3G cellular networks. More specifically, L2 (layer 2) and L3 (layer 3) signaling messages for a vertical handover are analyzed and reordered/combined, to optimize the handover procedure. Extensive simulations using ns-2 demonstrate that the proposed scheme enhances the performance of a vertical handover between mobile WiMAX and 3G networks: low handover latency, high TCP throughput, and low UDP packet loss ratio.

  • 많은 무선기술이 개발되었지만, 그 기술들은 적용사례와 대역폭에서 한계를 가지고 있다. WLAN과 3G 네트워크는 무선통신을 도와주기 위한 플랫폼으로 나왔다. 그러나 서로 다른 네트워크 터미널의 이동성은 여러 리스크를 발생시킨다. 통신 보안과 효과적인 증명이 실행되어야 한다. 이 논문의 주제는 통합된 WLAN/3G 네트워크에 관한 증명방법의 분석에 있다.

Seamless and Secure Mobility Management with Location-Aware Service (LAS) Broker for Future Mobile Interworking Networks

  • The proliferation of wireless local area networks (WLANs) offering high data rate in hot spot area have spurred the demand for possible WLANs and third-generation (3G) cellular network integration solutions as the initiative step towards 4G systems. This paper provides a novel architecture for seamless location-aware integration of WLANs into 3G cellular networks and also an analysis for the efficient handover techniques. We introduce location as a key context in secure roaming mechanism for context-aware interworking in 4G systems. The fast secure roaming with location-aware authentication is implemented at an entity called location-aware service (LAS) broker that utilizes the concepts of direction of user and pre-warming zone. The location-ware interworking architecture supports seamless roaming services among heterogeneous wireless networks including WLANs, wireless metropolitan area networks (WMANs), and 3G cellular networks. This paper also includes a description of procedures needed to implement efficient mobility and location management. We show how the LAS broker with pre-warming and context transfer can obtain significant lower latency in the vertical handover.

  • A number of wireless technologies have been implemented, but each technology has its limitation in terms of coverage and bandwidth. WLAN and 3G cellular network has emerged to be a complementary platform for wireless data communications. However, the mobility of roaming terminals in heterogeneous networks poses several risks. To maintain secure communications in universal roaming, the effective authentication must be implemented. The focus of this paper is on analysis of authentication architecture involved in integrated WLAN/3G networks.

  • When the wireless PKI is applied to 3G/4G mobile network which requires mutual authentication among all entities, the wired PKI procedure is not feasible for validating visited network's certifications because of the wireless environmental limitations. Also, if we depend on WAP based PKI, we cannot support confidence about certification validation since the information offered from visited network is not authenticated. Therefore, in this paper we consider various and unique characteristics of mobile environment for certification validation at 3G/4G mobile networks based on wireless PKI and then propose two certification validation procedures.

  • Recently, fifth generation (5G) networks are being deployed in phases all over the world, the paradigm has shifted to developing the next generation wireless technologies, which have grown exponentially in last few decades, wireless networks are promising for the demand to enormous connections. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) are considered as the key technoloies for next-generation beyond 5G (B5G) and sixth generation (6G) networks, in which IRS can play an important advance in the wireless propagation environment, and NOMA can effectively increase massive connectivity to improve user fairness. In this paper, we analyze a performance on the strongest channel user in terms of achievable data rates numerically. Then, with the achievable data rates, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gain is calculated for the IRS-NOMA network over the conventional NOMA network. As a consequence, IRS-NOMA schemes have been considered as some key technologies.

  • Wireless LAN technology is complementary to 3G systems and could be used to provide high bandwidth hotspot coverage, for example in railway stations and offices, in order to provide the high bandwidth video and broadband services such as those emerging on DSL fixed access. The IST Projects BRAIN and MIND have investigated a number of key technical enablers for such a system beyond 3G. These include scenarios and business models, design of an all-IP access network, consideration of ad hoc network extensions, enhancing Wireless LAN efficiency and compatibility with IP and, finally, terminal middleware and signalling for rapid adaptations to network QoS changes.

  • 최근 무선 인터넷 및 WLAN이 활성화되면서 3G 이동 통신망과 WLAN망의 연동으로 보다 넓은 서비스 영역에서 높은 데이터 전송 속도를 제공하기 위한 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 3G와 WLAN 연동망에서 이동 단말이 서로 다른 망으로 이동할 경우 높은 데이터 전송을 제공하기 위해서 끊김 없는 vertical handoff를 수행한다. 이동 단말이 TCP 연결 상태에서 vertical handoff를 수행하여 대역폭이 다른 망으로 이동할 경우 기존의 TCP 정보를 그대로 이용하면 3G와 WLAN 망간의 서로 다른 대역폭으로 인하여 패킷 손실이 발생하고 이로 인하여 TCP 성능이 낮아지게 된다. 본 논문은 vertical handoff를 통해 새로운 망으로 이동하였을 경우 사용 가능한 대역폭을 측정하여 TCP에 적용함으로써 TCP의 성능향상을 위한 새로운 혼잡제어 알고리즘을 제안하였고, ns-2 시뮬레이션을 통해 기존에 제안되었던 알고리즘보다 vertical handoff 시 TCP 성능이 향상됨을 보였다.

  • 차세대 모바일 인터넷의 진화에 따라 2G, 3G, 4G, B4G 이동통신 무선접속네트워크가 공존하게 되며, 기존의 통신 서비스 제공자들은 통합 서비스 제공자로 융합되고, 다수의 가상 서비스 제공자들이 발생하게 될 것으로 예상된다. 이러한 복잡한 미래의 융합 서비스를 제공하기 위해서 미래 인터넷에서는 무선 액세스 네트워크가 융합되고 다양한 서비스 제공자들에 의해 공유되는 무선 네트워크 가상화가 필수적이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 미래 무선 액세스 네트워크 상에서 여러 서비스 제공자들의 다양한 무선 액세스 기술들이 유연하게 통합 운영될 수 있는 무선 액세스 네트워크 가상화를 위한 망 구조와 가상화 시나리오에 대해서 고찰한다. 본 논문에서 도출된 차세대 이동통신 네트워크를 위한 무선 액세스 망 구조 및 가상화 시나리오는 앞으로 무선 액세스 네트워크 가상화 알고리즘 개발을 위한 기틀 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
