  • Though full 3D analysis is the proper method to analyze the hybrid stepping motor (HSM), it has weak points in the areas of computation time and complexity. This paper introduces 2D FEA using a virtual magnetic barrier for the axial cross section to save computation time. For the purpose of 2D FEA, the virtual magnetic barrier and equivalent permanent magnet model of HSM are proposed. This result is compared with that of experimental and 3D analysis, considered as a reference result.

  • This paper presents a new time-stepping 3-D analysis method coupled with an external circuit with motion equation for dynamic transient analysis of induction machines. In this method, the magneto-motive force (MMF) generated by induced current is modeled as a passive source in the magnetic equivalent network. So, by using only scalar potential at each node, the method is able to analyze induction machines with faster computation time and less memory requirement than conventional numerical methods. Also, this method is capable of modeling the movement of the mover without the need for re-meshing and analyzing the time harmonics for dynamic characteristics. From comparisons between the results of the analysis and the experiments, it is verified that the proposed method is capable of estimating the torque, harmonic field, etc. as a function of time with superior accuracy.

  • A claw pole stepping motor is widely used in various fields such as a compact optical disk drive, computer peripherals, digital cameras, office automation(OA), handheld mobile devices, because it has the suitable structure for compact motor. However 3D analysis is essential for design of Claw pole stepping motor because of axial flux path. Thus, in general, it takes a lot of time in the design of Claw pole motor. In this paper, magnetic equivalent circuit considering axial flux was proposed to reduce design time of Claw pole motor and we has designed by using the magnetic equivalent circuit. In addition, in oder to verify the study, design model was verified by 3D FEM simulation and experiment.

  • This paper presents a optimum design process for static torque characteristics of the Claw-Poles PM Stepping Motor(CPSM). Since the shape of CPSM changes along with axial direction, CPSM should only be analyzed by 3D-FEM. But 3D-FEM needs too much computation time and computer resources. Therefore, it is essential to reduce the number of 3D-FEM analysis models. In this paper, two design factors which affect the static torque characteristics of CPSM were selected. Optimum design process was able to make progress by using Pattern Search Algorithm and 3D-FEM. Finally, optimized model was compared with a conventional model.

3D 프린터 기반 수직형 마이크로 모션 스테이지의 최적설계 (Optimal Design of 3D Printer based Piezo-driven Vertical Micro-positioning Stage)

  • This paper presents the development of a 3D printer based piezo-driven vertical micro-positioning stage. The stage consists of two flexure bridge structures which amplify and transfer the horizontal motion of the piezo-element into vertical motion of the end-effector. The stage is fabricated with ABS material using a precision 3D printer. This enables a one-body design eliminating the need for assembly, and significantly increases the freedom in design while shortening fabrication time. The design of the stage was optimized using response surface analysis method. Experimental results are presented which demonstrate 100nm stepping in the vertical out-of-plane direction. The results demonstrate the future possibilities of applying 3D printers and ABS material in fabricating linear driven motion stages.

  • 본 논문에서는 3차원 FEM을 이용하여 Claw pole stoning motor의 특성을 해석하였다. Claw pole stewing motor는 구조상 z-축 방향으로 자화가 발생하고 모델의 특성상 3차원 FEM해석이 필수적이다. 해석 시간을 고려해 볼 때 목적하고자 하는 성능을 갖는 모터 설계 시 시간을 효율적으로 줄이기 위한 방법 중 하나는 해석 대상의 개수를 줄이는 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 실험계획법(Design of Experiments)을 이용하여 Claw pole stewing motor의 해석 및 설계 시 중요 변수인 영구자석, 폴형상, 권선수의 설계 변수를 설정하여 이 설계변수의 조합으로 나오는 해석 모델의 개수를 최소화하고 이렇게 줄어든 최적의 모델을 선정하여 3차원 FEM으로 해석하여 특성을 살펴보았다.

A Coupled Circuit and Field Analysis of a Stand-Alone Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Generator with Inset Rotor

  • By using a coupled circuit, time-stepping, two-dimensional finite element method (2-D FEM), the performance of a stand-alone permanent-magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) with inset rotor can be computed without involving the classical two-axis model. The effects of interpolar air gap length and armature resistance on the load characteristics are investigated. It is shown that the interpolar flux density, and hence the amount of voltage compensation, is affected by magnetic saturation. Validity of the coupled circuit and field analysis is confirmed by experiments on a prototype generator. The machine exhibits an approximately level load characteristic when it is supplying an isolated unity-power-factor load.
