  • The COBRA/RELAPS code, an integrated version of the COBRA-TF and RELAP5/MOD3 codes, has been developed for the realistic simulations of complicated, multi-dimensional, two-phase, thermal-hydraulic system transients in light water reactors. Recently, KAERA developed an unified version of the COBRA/RELAP5 code, which can run in serial mode on both workstations and personal computers. This paper provides the brief overview of the code integration scheme, the recent code modifications, the developmental assessments, and the future development plan.

  • In this parper, the performance of trellis coded DS/SSMA system using feedforward trellis encoder with sasymmetric signal constellation are evaluated over AW(In channel. The numerical results of trellis coded 4 PSK(code rate 1/2)and 8-PSK(code rate2/3) are calculated for 2-state and 4-state cases and compared with those of the Boudreau's system using feedback trellis encoder without optimizing the signal constellation. The method of moments is employed to evaluate the multiple access interference, in conjunction with the generalized transfer function techniques for trellis code. The numerical results show that the proposed system in this paper is always better than the Boudreau's system over AWGN channel; particularly at $P_b:10$, $0.2dB\sim2.4dB$ improvement over AWGN channel are obtained.

  • The seismic events in Northern Italy, May 2012, have revealed the seismic vulnerability of typical Italian precast industrial buildings. The aim of this paper is to present a seismic fragility model for Italian RC precast buildings, to be used in earthquake loss estimation and seismic risk assessment by comparing two building typologies and three different codes: D.M. 3-03-1975, D.M. 16-01-1996 and current Italian building code that has been released in 2008. Based on geometric characteristics and design procedure applied, ten different building classes were identified. A Monte Carlo simulation was performed for each building class in order to generate the building stock used for the development of fragility curves trough analytical method. The probabilistic distributions of geometry were mainly obtained from data collected from 650 field surveys, while the material properties were deduced from the code in place at the time of construction or from expert opinion. The structures were modelled in 2D frameworks; since the past seismic events have identified the beam-column connection as the weakest element of precast buildings, two different modelling solutions were adopted to develop fragility curves: a simple model with post processing required to detect connection collapse and an innovative modelling solution able to reproduce the real behaviour of the connection during the analysis. Fragility curves were derived using both nonlinear static and dynamic analysis.

  • Even though development paradigm of software has been changing very fast at the beginning of 21st Centuries, there are just few studies of quality and estimation metrics appropriate for Web environment. So in this study after analyzing the correlation between the size of the final code and property of objects, three industrial real world projects written in ASP have been used for deriving programs with high possibilities of faults. And then the size of programs was analyzed to correlate with the number of classes or the number of methods through linear regression. Among the web software with the complex architecture or server, client and un, type or form file written in Javascript for client has the high correlation and the number of methods is well correlated with the size of final code.

  • The purpose of this study is focussed on the numerical predictions of temperature distribution by radiation heat transfer in atrium fire using the field fire model and the CCRHT-3D code. This code uses standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model with SIMPLE algorithm and weighted sum of gray gases model regrouping(WSGGM-RG). The WSGGM-RG calculates radiative properties on the reduced computational loads while reserving the accuracy. The numerical results show that lower temperature distributions on the wall and the top ceiling wall can be obtained by considering radiative heat transfer. The temperature on the top ceiling wall can be an important parameter in predicting the operating condition of the sprinkler head.

  • Despite its disadvantages, soft story can reduce the damage to the upper floors by concentrating drift in that specific story provided that large drifts are avoided. Gapped-Inclined Brace (GIB) with reduced P-delta effects and the control of soft story stiffness makes it possible to take advantage of the soft story in buildings and increase their capacity for energy dissipation. OpenSees software is used in this study to validate and modify the GIB model's shortcomings. Also, the analysis method for this element is changed for design. The modified element is evaluated in 3D analysis. Finally, to retrofit an existing building, this element is used. Based on the Iranian seismic code, a six-story reinforced concrete building is modelled and studied with 3D analysis. In this building, the construction shortcomings and elimination of infills on the ground floor cause the formation of a soft story. Results of nonlinear static analysis, nonlinear dynamic, and incremental dynamic analysis using both components of seismic acceleration applied to the structure at different angles and the fragility curves indicate the improvement of the retrofitted structure's performance using the modified element to reach the required performance level following the retrofit code.
