The information of traversability and path planning is essential for UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle) navigation. Such information can be obtained by analyzing 3D terrain. In this paper, we present the method of 3D terrain modeling with color information from a camera, precise distance information from a 2D Laser Range Finder(LRF) and wheel encoder information from mobile robot with less data. And also we present the method of 3B terrain modeling with the information from GPS/IMU and 2D LRF with less data. To fuse the color information from camera and distance information from 2D LRF, we obtain extrinsic parameters between a camera and LRF using planar pattern. We set up such a fused system on a mobile robot and make an experiment on indoor environment. And we make an experiment on outdoor environment to reconstruction 3D terrain with 2D LRF and GPS/IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit). The obtained 3D terrain model is based on points and requires large amount of data. To reduce the amount of data, we use cubic grid-based model instead of point-based model.
Reconstructing underwater geometry in real time with forward-looking sonar is critical for applications such as localization, mapping, and path planning. Geometrical data must be repeatedly calculated and overwritten in real time because the reliability of the acoustic data is affected by various factors. Moreover, scattering of signal data during the coordinate conversion process may lead to geometrical errors, which lowers the accuracy of the information obtained by the sensor system. In this study, we propose a three-step data processing method with low computational cost for real-time operation. First, the number of data points to be interpolated is determined with respect to the distance between each point and the size of the data grid in a Cartesian coordinate system. Then, the data are processed with a nonlinear interpolation so that they exhibit linear properties in the coordinate system. Finally, the data are transformed based on variations in the position and orientation of the sonar over time. The results of an evaluation of our proposed approach in a simulation show that the nonlinear interpolation operation constructed a continuous underwater geometry dataset with low geometrical error.

The objective in here is to find the density, stiffness, and strength of truss-wall rectangular (TWR) model which is combined with lattice truss (MLT) inside space. The TWR unit-cell model is defined as a unit cell originated from a solid-wall rectangular (SWR) model and it has an empty space inside. Thus, the empty space inside of the TWR is filled with lattice truss model defined as TWR-MLT. The ideal solutions derived of TWR-MLT are based on TWR with MLT model and it has developed by Gibson-Ashby's theory. To validate the ideal solutions of the TWR-MLT, ABAQUS software is applied to predict the density, strength, and stiffness, and then each of them are compared with the Gibson-Ashby's ideal solution as a log-log scale. Applied material property is stainless steel 304 because of cost effectiveness and easy to get around. For the analysis, SWR and TWR-MLT models are 1mm, 2mm, and 3mm truss diameter separately within a fixed 20mm opening width. In conclusion, the relative Young's modulus and relative yield strength of the TWR-MLT unit model is reasonably matched to the ideal expectations of the Gibson-Ashby's theory. In nearby future, TWR-MLT model can be verified by advanced technologies such as 3D printing skills.t.

As the culture of making things based on "do-it-yourself" (DIY) activity is increasingly promoted, the use of recent digital technologies and tools, including the 3D printer, have become widespread. However, the use of computerized numerical control (CNC) engraving machine is considered difficult because of the complicated procedures and specialized knowledge required for its operation. Therefore, this study aims to resolve the issue that limits the usability of the CNC engraving machine. This paper presents a novel CNC engraving machine system for non-experts based on human-centered design. First, the size and type of the workpiece and tool are reduced. Second, computer-aided process planning (CAPP) steps such as tool path generation, workpiece clamping, and corresponding coordinate system are automated by compromising productivity and efficiency. As a result, a CNC engraving machine system that can be easily used by non-experts was developed. This development has great significance in that it opens up the possibility of using the CNC engraving machine for a wider range of DIY activities.
The use of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) have been regarded as a promising technique in both military and civilian applications. Nevertheless, due to the lack of relevant and regulations and laws, the misuse of illegal drones poses a serious threat to social security. In this paper, aiming at deriving the three-dimension optimal surveillance trajectories for group monitoring drones, we develop a group trajectory planner based on the particle swarm optimization and updating mechanism. Together, to evaluate the trajectories generated by proposed trajectory planner, we propose a group-objectives fitness function in accordance with energy consumption, flight risk. The simulation results validate that the group trajectories generated by proposed trajectory planner can preferentially visit important areas while obtaining low energy consumption and minimum flying risk value in various practical situations.

The migration path of a multiple-generation technology that occurs during a technological substitution by a new technology is important to understanding the phenomenon of technological substitution, and can contribute to understanding the process of technological innovation. This research defines the concept of migration path and develops a model of the types of migration paths by multiple dimensions (actor, generation, and time) in a multiple-generation technology. Based on a literature review and tracking of migration paths according to multiple dimensions, the definitions and types of migration paths were provided, and the accuracy of the model was verified based on a case study of the semiconductor industry. The migration paths of suppliers are modeled with three types (switching, leapfrogging, and new entrance paths), and the migration paths of customers are modeled with four types (switching, leapfrogging, new entrance, and diffusion paths) in a multiple-generation technology. This research will be useful for understanding the migration paths in the phenomenon of technological substitution, and can be applied to other industries in addition to the semiconductor industry, including various actors. In addition, suppliers and customers can understand technological substitution and can establish a technology strategy against their competitors.

The aim is to urge the need of elaborate commissioning of 3D RTP system from the firsthand experience. A 3D RTP system requires so much data such as beam data and patient data. Most data of radiation beam are directly transferred from a 3D dose scanning system, and some other data are input by editing. In the process inputting parameters and/or data, no error should occur. For RTP system using algorithm-bas ed-on beam-modeling, careless beam-data processing could also cause the treatment error. Beam data of 3 different qualities of photon from two linear accelerators, patient data and calculated results were commissioned. For PDD, the doses by Clarkson, convolution, superposition and fast superposition methods at 10 cm for 10${\times}$10 cm field, 100 cm SSD were compared with the measured. An error in the SCD for one quality was input by the service engineer. Whole SCD defined by a physicist is SAD plus d$\sub$max/, the value was just SAD. That resulted in increase of MU by 100${\times}$((1_d$\sub$max//SAD)$^2$-1)%. For 10${\times}$10 cm open field, 1 m SSD and at 10 cm depth in uniform medium of relative electron density (RED) 1, PDDs for 4 algorithms of dose calculation, Clarkson, convolution, superposition and fast-superposition, were compared with the measured. The calculated PDD were similar to the measured. For 10${\times}$10 cm open field, 1 m SSD and at 10 cm depth with 5 cm thick inhomogeneity of RED 0.2 under 2 cm thick RED 1 medium, PDDs for 4 algorithms were compared. PDDs ranged from 72.2% to 77.0% for 4 MV X-ray and from 90.9% to 95.6% for 6 MV X-ray. PDDs were of maximum for convolution and of minimum for superposition. For 15${\times}$15 cm symmetric wedged field, wedge factor was not constant for calculation mode, even though same geometry. The reason is that their wedge factor is considering beam hardness and ray path. Their definition requires their users to change the concept of wedge factor. RTP user should elaborately review beam data and calculation algorithm in commissioning.

Domain mapping is a bijective transformation of one domain to another, usually from a complicated general domain to a chosen convex domain. This is directly useful in many application problems like shape modeling, morphing, texture mapping, shape matching, remeshing, path planning etc. A new approach considering the domain as made up of structural elements, like membranes or trusses, is developed and implemented using the nonlinear finite element formulation. The mapping is performed in two stages, boundary mapping and inside mapping. The boundary of the 3-D domain is mapped to the surface of a convex domain (in this case, a sphere) in the first stage and then the displacement/distortion of this boundary is used as boundary conditions for mapping the interior of the domain in the second stage. This is a general method and it develops a bijective mapping in all cases with judicious choice of material properties and finite element analysis. The consistent global parameterization produced by this method for an arbitrary genus zero closed surface is useful in shape modeling. Results are convincing to accept this finite element structural approach for domain mapping as a good method for many purposes.

Recently, there are lots of concerning on ubiquitous environment of robots and URC (Ubiquitous Robotic Companion). In this paper, a practical ubiquitous interface system far controlling mobile robots in indoor environments was proposed. The interface system was designed as a manager-agent model including a PC manager, a mobile manager, and robot agents for being able to be accessed by any network. In the system, the PC manager has a 3D virtual environment and shows real images for a human-friendly interface, and share the computation load of the robot such as path planning and managing geographical information. It also contains Hybrid Format Manager(HFM) working for transforming the image, position, and control data and interchanging them between the robots and the managers. Mobile manager working in the minimized computing condition of handsets has a mobile interface environment displaying the real images and the position of the robot and being able to control the robots by pressing keys. Experimental results showed the proposed system was able to control robots rising wired and wireless LAN and mobile Internet.
