Traditional three-dimensional (3-D) laser imaging systems are based on real aperture imaging technology, whose resolution decreases as the range increases. In this paper, we develop a novel 3-D imaging technique based on the synthetic aperture technology in which the imaging resolution is significantly improved and does not degrade with the increase of the range. We consider an imaging laser radar (ladar) system using the floodlight transmitting mode and multi-beam receiving mode. High 3-D imaging resolutions are achieved by matched filtering the linear frequency modulated (LFM) signals respectively in range, synthetic aperture along-track, and the real aperture across-track. In this paper, a novel 3-D imaging signal model is given first. Because of the motion during the transmission of a sweep, the Doppler shift induced by the continuous motion is taken into account. And then, a proper algorithm for the 3-D imaging geometry is given. Finally, simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed technique.

The KAERI Spent Fuel Remote Technology Development (SFRTD) Department is developing the remote maintenance and repair equipment, which is used in a hot cell in an intense radiation field, as part of a project to develop the Advanced spent fuel Conditioning Process (ACP). Although several mechanical master-slave manipulators (MSMs) is mounted on the hot cell wall, their reach will be limited and cannot access areas for all the ACP equipment maintenance. A Bridge Transported ServoManipulator (BTSM) has been designed to overcome the limitation of access areas that is a drawback of MSMs for the ACP equipment maintenance. The BTSM system consists of four components: a transporter with telescoping tubeset, a slave manipulator, a master manipulator, and a remote control system. The BTSM system has been designed by Solid Edge that is a 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software, except for the remote control system. The master manipulator and the slave manipulator are kinematically similar in design, except for the handle and the tong, respectively. The manipulators have 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) plus the jaws motion. The transporter has traveling, traverse, and hoisting motion to position the slave manipulator.
The purpose of this paper is to review the validation on the application of low frequency IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit) sensors by replacing high frequency motion analysis systems. Using an infrared-based 3D motion analysis system and IMU sensors (22 Hz) simultaneously, the gait cycle and knee flexion angle were measured. And the accuracy of each gait parameter was compared according to the statistical analysis method. The Bland-Altman plot analysis method was used to verify whether proper accuracy can be obtained when extracting gait parameters with low frequency sensors. As a result of the study, the use of the new gait assessment system was able to identify adequate accuracy in the measurement of cadence and stance phase. In addition, if the number of gait cycles is increased and the results of body anthropometric measurements are reflected in the gait analysis algorithm, is expected to improve accuracy in step length, walking speed, and range of motion measurements. The suggested gait assessment system is expected to make gait analysis more convenient. Furthermore, it will provide patients more accurate assessment and customized rehabilitation program through the quantitative data driven results.
Verification of internal organ motion during treatment and its feedback is essential to accurate dose delivery to the moving target. We developed an offline based internal organ motion verification system (IMVS) using cine EPID images and evaluated its accuracy and availability through phantom study. For verification of organ motion using live cine EPID images, a pattern matching algorithm using an internal surrogate, which is very distinguishable and represents organ motion in the treatment field, like diaphragm, was employed in the self-developed analysis software. For the system performance test, we developed a linear motion phantom, which consists of a human body shaped phantom with a fake tumor in the lung, linear motion cart, and control software. The phantom was operated with a motion of 2 cm at 4 sec per cycle and cine EPID images were obtained at a rate of 3.3 and 6.6 frames per sec (2 MU/frame) with $1,024{\times}768$ pixel counts in a linear accelerator (10 MVX). Organ motion of the target was tracked using self-developed analysis software. Results were compared with planned data of the motion phantom and data from the video image based tracking system (RPM, Varian, USA) using an external surrogate in order to evaluate its accuracy. For quantitative analysis, we analyzed correlation between two data sets in terms of average cycle (peak to peak), amplitude, and pattern (RMS, root mean square) of motion. Averages for the cycle of motion from IMVS and RPM system were $3.98{\pm}0.11$ (IMVS 3.3 fps), $4.005{\pm}0.001$ (IMVS 6.6 fps), and $3.95{\pm}0.02$ (RPM), respectively, and showed good agreement on real value (4 sec/cycle). Average of the amplitude of motion tracked by our system showed $1.85{\pm}0.02$ cm (3.3 fps) and $1.94{\pm}0.02$ cm (6.6 fps) as showed a slightly different value, 0.15 (7.5% error) and 0.06 (3% error) cm, respectively, compared with the actual value (2 cm), due to time resolution for image acquisition. In analysis of pattern of motion, the value of the RMS from the cine EPID image in 3.3 fps (0.1044) grew slightly compared with data from 6.6 fps (0.0480). The organ motion verification system using sequential cine EPID images with an internal surrogate showed good representation of its motion within 3% error in a preliminary phantom study. The system can be implemented for clinical purposes, which include organ motion verification during treatment, compared with 4D treatment planning data, and its feedback for accurate dose delivery to the moving target.
In this paper, we propose a method to analyze measured data from 3D Laser tracking system and to enhance precision performance of a Cartesian robot. Position data are obtained over the stroke of a Cartesian robot with variable speeds. The measured data is need to model errors with several different sources. In general, the error is a function of part accuracy, assembly accuracy, temperature, and control etc. After the sources of errors are identified, they are used to enhance precision performance. The proposed method is more complete than others because we use very accurate 3D Laser tracking system.

Human's vision is mostly confined to the area in the front and we, humans heavily depend on the sense of hearing to gather information in areas out of our sight. Thus, the virtual reality system consisting of the 3D sound effect gives the user a much better sense of reality than the system without the sound effect. Virtual 3D sound technology has mainly been researched with binaural system. The conventional binaural sound systems reproduce the desired sound at two arbitrary points using two channels in 3-D space. Head movement of listener might be change the nominal acoustic transfer function and deteriorate the performance of 3D sound system based on loudspeakers that needs a crosstalk canceller. In this paper, low kinds of sensitivity functions of sphere HRTF are derived to investigate the effect of head movement on HRTF in 3D sound system. Changes of HRTF caused by rotational and translational motion of head are obtained as we calculate the derivatives of HRTF with respect to angle and distance.
In this paper, we propose a practical method for displaying 2D/True3D mixed contents in real-time. Many companies released their 3D display recently, but the costs of producing True3D contents are still very expensive. Since there are already a lot of 2D contents in the world and it is more effective to mix True3D objects into the 2D contents than making True3D contents directly, people became interested in mixing 2D/True3D contents. Moreover, real-time 2D/True3D mixing is helpful for 3D displays because the scenario of the contents can be easily changed on playback-time by adjusting the 3D effects and the motion of the True3D object interactively. In our system, True3D objects are rendered into multiple view-point images, which are composed with 2D contents by using depth information, and then they are multiplexed with pre-generated view masks. All the processes are performed on a graphics processor. We were still able to play a 2D/True3D mixed contents with Full HD resolution in real-time using a normal graphics processor.

The aim of this study was to develop a new efficient strategy that uses the Vector form Intrinsic Finite-element (VFIFE) method to conduct the static and dynamic analyses of marine pipes. Nonlinear problems, such as large displacement, small strain, and contact and collision, can be analyzed using a unified calculation process in the VFIFE method according to the fundamental theories of point value description, path element, and reverse motion. This method enables analysis without the need to integrate the stiffness matrix of the structure, because only motion equations of particles established according to Newton's second law are required. These characteristics of the VFIFE facilitate the modeling and computation efficiencies in analyzing the nonlinear dynamic problem of flexible pipe with large deflections. In this study, a three-dimensional (3-D) dynamical model based on 3-D beam element was established according to the VFIFE method. The deep-sea flexible pipe was described by a set of spatial mass particles linked by 3-D beam element. The motion and configuration of the pipe are determined by these spatial particles. Based on this model, a simulation procedure to predict the 3-D dynamical behavior of flexible pipe was developed and verified. It was found that the spatial configuration and static internal force of the mining pipe can be obtained by calculating the stationary state of pipe motion. Using this simulation procedure, an analysis was conducted on the static and dynamic behaviors of the flexible mining pipe based on a 1000-m sea trial system. The results of the analysis proved that the VFIFE method can be efficiently applied to the static and dynamic analyses of marine pipes.
Computer-assisted motional analysis is a popular method in biomechanical studies. Validation of the specific system and its measurement are fundamental to its application in the areas. Because the accuracy and consistency of a particular system provide the researchers with critical information to assist in making judgements regarding the degree to which inferences can be drawn from measurement data. The purpose of this study was to assess the accuracy and consistency of the Kwon3D motion analysis system. Validation parameters were five lengths from eight landmarkers in combination with the DLT reconstruction error values, digitizing monitor resolutions, and numbers of control points. With the best setting, Kwon3D's estimations of 260cm, 200cm, 140cm, 100cm, and 20cm were $260.33{\pm}.688cm$, $199.98{\pm}.625cm$, $139.89{\pm}.537cm$, $99.75{\pm}.466cm$, $20.08{\pm}.114$, respectively. There was no significant DLT error value difference between two monitor resolutions, but 0.27cm significant difference in 260cm estimation. There were significant differences in 260cm and 200cm estimations between with 33-control-point DLT error and with 17-control-point DLT error, but no in 140cm, 100cm, and 20cm estimations. Test-retest results showed that Kwon3D measurements were highly consistent with reliability coefficients alpha of .9263 and above.

In recent year, desire and request fer micro automation are growing rapidly covering the whole range of the industry. This has been caused mainly by request of more accurate manufacturing process due to a higher density of integrated circuits in semiconductor industry. This paper presents a six d.o.f fine motion stage using magnetic levitation technique, which is one of actuating techniques that have the potential for achieving such a micro motion. There is no limit in motion resolution theoretically that the magnetically levitated part over a fixed stator can realize. In addition, it Is possible to manipulate the position and the force of the moving part at the same time. Then, the magnetic levitation technique is chosen into the actuating method. However, we discuss issues of design, kinematics, dynamics, and control of the proposed system. And a few experimental results fur step input are given.
