In game characters, the direction of character design varies depending on the expression or production method. It is necessary to perform game character personality design by reflecting the importance. This study derives the importance of the game character personality model using AHP for the efficient decision and presents game character personality design check tool. In design elements, the importance of external appearance was the highest in all of style. In personality factors, action in 3D realism, external appearance in 3D animation, and speech in 2D animation were the most important.

A 3D scanner scans and captures the shape of a real-world object. The captured shape can be used to construct three-dimensional model for CAD/CAM applications. In this study we have tried to design a cell phone cover by using the 3D scanner and reverse engineering. A 3D scanner is used to capture the shape of a cell phone. The 3D scanner generates a point cloud as the shape information. A three-dimensional CAD model for the cell phone is constructed from the point cloud. A cell phone cover is designed based on the CAD model of the cell phone. To check the integrity of this design process a prototype of the cover is made and assembled with the cell phone.

This paper presents a method to convert 3D CAD model to an appropriate analysis model using wrap-around, smooth-out and thinning operators that have been originally developed to realize the multi-resolution modeling. Wrap-around and smooth-out operators are used to simplify 3D model, and thinning operator is to reduce the dimension of a target object with simultaneously decomposing the simplified 3D model to 1D or 2D shapes. By using the simplification and dimension-reduction operations in an appropriate way, the user can generate an analysis model that matches specific applications. The advantage of this method is that the user can create optimized analysis models of various simplification levels by selecting appropriate number of detailed features and removing them.

This paper is to model a 3D-shape product applying mathematically the data acquired from a 3D scanner and using an Automatic Design Program. The research studied in the reverse engineering up to now has been developed continuously and surprisingly. However, forming 3D-shape solid models in CAE and CAM, based on the research, the study leaves much to be desired. Especially, analyses and studies reverse-designing automatically using measured data after manufacturing. Consequently, we are going to acquire geometric data using an 3D scanner in this study with which we will open a new field of reverse engineering by a program whic hcan design a 3D-shape solid model in a CAD-based program automatically.

In recent, the design of diaphragm which is representative disturbed region in PSC box girder bridge have been performed according to the empirical method or beam theory. But, these methods couldn't be described the behavior of the end diaphragm, and placed reinforcements accurately. As the compressive stress transferred by the web concentrated on the lower parts of diaphragm, it was demonstrated that the basic assumption of 2-D strut-and-tie model for the diaphragm that the compressive stress acts on the upper parts of the diaphragm is wrong. Meanwhile, in this research, after analyzing the variables of end diaphragm, the 2-D strut-and-tie models appropriate to each cases are proposed. And, the problems of 2-D strut-and-tie model were analyzed, so 3-D strut-and-tie model is proposed as well. There is no codes which include the demonstration of safety of 3-D strut-and-tie model. Hence, for nodes, the stresses at the elements which included the singular node in strut-and-tie model were investigated using the finite element analysis. And, the stress states of strut has one direction, so effective stresses were considered at the stage, dimensioning of the model. From the results, 3-D strut-and-tie model could predict the behavior of end diaphragm accurately, and design of reinforcement could be performed economically.

Because of the fast changing car design and increasing facilities, manufacturing process of cars is getting more complex now a days. Particularly, car manufacturing system that consist of automated devices, applies various simulation techniques to validate device motion and detect collision. To cope with this problem, traditional manufacturing system deployed test-run with the real devices. However, increased computing power in a contemporary manufacturing system changes it into realistic 3D simulation environment. Similarly, managed device data that was generated using 2D traditionally, can be converted to 3D realistic simulation. The existing problem with 3D simulation is disjoint data interaction between different work stations. Consequently, JIGs, fixing the car part accurately, are changed according to fixing position on the part or a part shape properties. In practice, the 3D JIG data has to be managed according to kinematic information, but not of its features. However, generating kinematic information to the 3D model repeatedly according to frequent change in part is not explained in current literatures. To fill this knowledge gap, this paper suggests an improving method of rendering 3D JIG kinematics information to simulation model. Thereafter, it shows the result of implementation.

In the nuclear industry, in order to keep pace with the 4th industrial revolution era, they are trying to improve the construction and maintenance ability by utilizing the technologies such as digital twin and VR/AR from the construction stage. However, the nuclear 3D CAD model, which is used as the base in the latest technology, is heavy due to a large number of facilities per unit space compared to other industrial companies, and it is difficult to directly incorporate the latest technology into the results of CAD programs for design purposes. In this study, in order to improve usability, we tried to lighten the 3D model. First, we analyze the existing nuclear power plant 3D model and draw out the problems and features. Secondly, we derived the factors to consider when we make the 3D CAD models lightweight.
This study utilizes a S-O-R model to investigate the effects of apparel product presentations using a 3D avatar model in Internet fashion malls for pleasure(emotional state) and approach behavior. We chose a 3D avatar model to present a fashion product in this study. The model walked for about one minute on stage; subsequently, respondents completed a questionnaire after they viewed it. The questionnaire consists of telepresence, pleasure and approach behavior. Respondents are limited to females 20s and 30s years old who have purchased fashion products in an Internet mall and are highly interested in fashion products. A total of 226 samples were used for the final analysis. Cronbach's alpha, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modeling were utilized in this study. The results are as follows. First, telepresence has a significant influence on pleasure; subsequently, pleasure influenced consumer approach behavior. Second, telepresence positively influenced the approach behavior (directly and indirectly). This verified the effectiveness of a 3D avatar model using S-O-R. A 3D avatar model can be a strategic alternative in the fiercely competitive Internet shopping sector.
Fashion industry has tried to adopt the virtual garment technology to reduce the time and effort spent on sample creation. For garment manufacturers to adopt the virtual garment technology as an alternative to sample creation, 3D avatars that meet the needs of each brand should be developed. Virtual garment softwares that are available in the market provide avatars with standardized body models and allow to modify the size by manually entering size specifications. This study proposed a methodology to develop size specifications for 3D avatars as well as brand-customized production sizes. For this, a man's fashion brand which is using virtual garment technology is selected. And the Size Korea database is used to develop size specification based on the customers' body shape. This study developed regression equations on body size specifications, which in turn proposed a regression model to proportionately change size specifications of 3D fitting-models. Based on the each body size calculated by the regression model, a standard model is created, and the skeleton-skin algorithm is applied to the regression model to obtain the results of size changes. Then, the 3D model sizes are tested for size changes as well as measured, which verifies that the regression model reflects body size changes.
Bridge piers typically have circular or rectangular shapes without decorative design. Prefabrication for accelerated construction has been widely adopted in bridge structures. Cost for steel formwork is a main restriction of creative irregular shapes. 3D modelling techniques allow creative design of columns and 3D printing provides possibility to minimize the fabrication cost. In this paper, 3D design process of bridge piers was suggested by converting 2D picture into 3D decorative shape. Formwork design using 3D printed panels was also proposed and mock-up tests were conducted. Precast columns need accurate geometry control from fabrication to assembly. Laser scanning and geometry control devices were adopted. Through the digitalized process of design, fabrication and assembly, creative design of structures can be realized in reasonable cost range.
