In order to get low cost and portability, semiconductor gas sensor need to have low operating temperature and high sensitivity. $Fe_2O_3$ based sensors which were doped with metal oxide catalysts($MoO_3$, $V_2O_5$, $TiO_2$, and CdO) were fabricated by screen printing method. To improve electrical stability of sensors, the $Fe_2O_3$ sensors were annealed in $N_2$ at $700^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The $V_2O_5$ doped $Fe_2O_3$ sensor showed about $80{\sim}90%$ sensitivity at alcohol 1,000 ppm and have good selectivity to hydrocarbon gas and tobacco odors. The fabricated sensor and PIC-chip were employed for portable alarm system.

Flexible tactile sensors, which are primarily used as grippers in robots, are mainly used to handle highly elastic or highly flexible objects. That is, flexible grippers are used when an object cannot be sufficiently controlled by applying a specific output force or taking a specific grabbing action. This is because a flexible tactile sensor needs to measure the pressure applied directly to held objects while deforming according to the shape of the object to be handled. CNT-based sensors used to be made from a highly flexible polymer to give flexibility and it is known that the sensors are greatly affected by the contact resistance of the terminal that connects the sensor to an electrical circuit; therefore, this paper clarifies the contact resistance of MWCNTs-based flexible tactile sensors and terminals. The effects of main and plating materials for terminals are investigated and the combinations of main and plating materials that exhibit contact resistance are measured in a typical industrial environment.

This paper is a study on the digitization of an analog 3D pen. The term digital implies features such as homeostasis, transformability, combinability, reproducibility, and convenience of storage. One device that produces a combination of these digital characteristics is a 3D printer, but its industrial use is limited due to low productivity and limitations with materials and physical characteristics. In particular, improvements are required to use 3D printers, such as better user accessibility owing to expertise and skills in modeling software and printers. Complementing this fact is the 3D pen, which is excellent in portability and ease of use, but has a limitation in that it cannot be digitized. Therefore, in order to secure a digitalization capability and ease of use, and to secure the safety of printing materials that pose controversial hazards during the printing process, research problems and alternatives have been derived by combining food, and digitization was demonstrated with a newly developed 3D pen. In order to digitize the 3D pen, a sensor in a structured device detects the motion of an analog 3D pen, and this motion is converted into 3D data (X-Y-Z coordinate values) through a spatial analysis algorithm. To prove this method, the similarity was confirmed by visualization using MeshLab version 1.3.4. It is expected that this food pen can be used in youth education and senior healthcare programs in the future.

In this study, we developed a deep learning and vision sensor-based assembly performance evaluation method isfor prefabricated steel structures. The assembly parts were segmented using a modified version of the receptive field block convolution module inspired by the eccentric function of the human visual system. The quality of the assembly was evaluated by detecting the bolt holes in the segmented assembly part and calculating the bolt hole positions. To validate the performance of the evaluation, models of standard and defective assembly parts were produced using a 3D printer. The assembly part segmentation network was trained based on the 3D model images captured from a vision sensor. The sbolt hole positions in the segmented assembly image were calculated using image processing techniques, and the assembly performance evaluation using the k-nearest neighbor algorithm was verified. The experimental results show that the assembly parts were segmented with high precision, and the assembly performance based on the positions of the bolt holes in the detected assembly part was evaluated with a classification error of less than 5%.

Patients with amputations of both hands need prosthetic hands that serve both cosmetic and functional purposes, and research on prosthetic hands using electromyography of remaining muscles is active, but there is still the problem of high cost. In this study, an artificial prosthetic hand was manufactured and its performance was evaluated using low-cost parts and software such as a surface electromyography sensor, machine learning software Edge Impulse, Arduino Nano 33 BLE, and 3D printing. Using signals acquired with surface electromyography sensors and subjected to digital signal processing through Edge Impulse, the flexing movement signals of each finger were transmitted to the fingers of the prosthetic hand model through training to determine the type of finger movement using machine learning. When the digital signal processing conditions were set to a notch filter of 60 Hz, a bandpass filter of 10-300 Hz, and a sampling frequency of 1,000 Hz, the accuracy of machine learning was the highest at 82.1%. The possibility of being confused between each finger flexion movement was highest for the ring finger, with a 44.7% chance of being confused with the movement of the index finger. More research is needed to successfully develop a low-cost prosthetic hand.

Flexible tactile sensors can provide valuable feedback to intelligent robots regarding the environment around them. This is especially important when robots such as, service robots share a workspace with humans. This paper presents a contact force measurement algorithm of a flexible tactile sensor. This sensor is manufactured by a direct-writing technique, which is one 3D printing method, using multi-walled carbon nano-tubes. An analog signal processing circuit has been designed and implemented to reduce noise contained in the sensor output. In addition, a digital version of the Butterworth filter was implemented by software running on a microcontroller. Through various experiments, characteristics of the sensor system have been identified. Based on three traits, an algorithm to detect the contact and measure the contact force has been developed. The entire system showed a promising prospect to detect the contact over a large and curved area.

Recent experimental observations support the hypothesis that mechanical stimuli play a role in regulating the specialized molecular expression of articular cartilage in vitro and in vivo. Other studies have demonstrated that the continuous passive motion(CPM)bioreactor for whole joints can provide a platform for possible future in vitro studies and applications, including possible interactions of bio-mechanical and biochemical signals. In this study, we have developed acustom-made bioreactor capable of bending and stretching with circular type motion, and a biomimetic knee joint model, using a 3D printer. This system could be used to investigate the effects of rehabilitative joint motion of dynamic culture.
The general flatbed printer system is composed of a PC and a dedicated S/W, which is inconvenient to use. In the end, there is a need for a technology that can easily and conveniently use various types of printing through simplification, smartization, etc. of a flatbed printer system configuration. That is, there is an increasing demand for multi-dimensional printer capable of printing on various types of materials with one printer and capable of printing various types of products. Therefore, in this paper, we developed a flatbed printer system capable of multi-dimensional printing using Head Encoder/Trigger control. To this end, we developed a flatbed printer that connects the internal module of the flatbed printer with an input type detection sensor and controls all operating states by the head encoder and head trigger signals of the printer through separate main controllers. Through this, the development and diffusion of IoT technology will expand the printer control of the smart environment to the developed form throughout the industry. It is expected to contribute to the development of the 3D printing industry in the future.
