3D Stereo Display of Spatial Data from Various Sensors (다양한 센서로부터 획득한 공간데이터의 3D 입체 디스플레이)

  • Visualization requires for effective analysis of the spatial data collected by various sensors. The best way to convey 3D digital spatial information which is modeling of the real world to the users, realistic 3D visualization and display technology. Since most of the display is based on 2D or 2.5D projection to the plane, there is limitation in representing real world in 3D space. In this paper, data from airborne LiDAR for topographic mapping, Flashi-LiDAR as emerging sensor with great potential to 3D data acquisition, and multibeam echo-sounder for underwater measurement, were stereoscopically visualized. 3D monitors are getting popular and could be information media and platform in geoinformatics. Therefore, study on creating 3D stereoscopic contents of spatial information is essential for new technology of stereo viewing systems.

  • 본 논문에서는 가속 센서의 데이터로부터 얻은 정보를 특정 알고리즘을 통해 3D 공간상에서 좌표를 매핑(Mapping)하는 3D 마우스를 제안한다. 손의 움직임에 따라 변화하는 가속도 값을 블루투스 통신을 사용하여 모바일 디바이스(Mobile Device)로 전송한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 3D 마우스는 손에 든 가속도 센서 데이터를 사용하여 손이 움직이기 전의 위치를 기준으로 가속도 데이터를 토대로 움직인 후의 위치를 추출하여 3D 공간 상에서의 마우스를 구현하였다. 10명의 사용자에게 마우스를 동일한 시작점에서 정해진 목표지점까지 움직이도록 실험해 본 결과 평균 2.23번 만에 성공하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 3D 파노라믹 가상 환경 생성을 위한 투영기반 메쉬 모델 생성 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 메쉬 모델 생성 기법은 멀티뷰 카메라를 이용해 다수의 시점에서 얻은 실내 환경의 3D 데이터로부터 메쉬 모델을 생성한다. 먼저 미리 보정된 카메라 파라미터를 이용해 입력된 임의의 3D점 데이터를 여러 개의 하위 점군으로 분할한다. 적응적 샘플링을 통해 각 하위 점군으로부터 중복되는 점 데이터를 없애고 새로운 점군을 생성한다. 각각의 하위 점군을 Delaunay삼각화 방법을 통해 메쉬 모델링하고, 인접한 하위 점군의 메쉬들을 통합하여 하나의 메쉬 모델을 생성한다. 제안된 메쉬 모델링 방법은 점군의 분할을 통해 각 부분의 메쉬 모델을 독립적으로 생성하므로 실내 환경과 같은 넓은 영역의 모델링에 알맞다. 또한, 적응적 샘플링을 통해 3D 데이터가 갖는 깊이 정보의 특징을 보존하면서 메쉬 데이터의 크기를 줄인다. 생성된 가상 환경 모델은 가상/증강현실 응용 어플리케이션 등에 적용이 가능하다.

Multiple Description Coding of 3-D Data (3차원 데이터의 다중 부호화 기법)

  • A multiple description coding (MDC) scheme for 3-D Data is presented. First, a plane-based 3-D data is split into two descriptions, each of which has identical contribution in 3-D surface reconstruction. In order to maximize the visual quality of reconstructed 3-D data, then, plane parameters are modified according to channel error condition. Finally, these descriptions are compressed and transmitted over distinct channels. In decoder, if two descriptions are available, we reconstruct a high quality 3-D data. If only one description is transmitted, however, 3-D surface recovery scheme reduces artifacts on erroneous 3-D surface, yielding a smooth 3-D surface. Therefore, the proposed algorithm guarantees acceptable quality reconstruction of 3-D data even though one channel is totally lost.

  • Most of 3D indoor spatial data recently constructed by many projects merely focus on the visualization rather than geospatial information applications. The 3D indoor data for visualization in 3DS or COLLADA format are based on triangular mesh representation. In order to implement meaningful applications, we need however more meaningful information in 3D indoor spatial data than visualization data in triangular meshes. For this reason, an OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) standard, called IndoorGML(Indoor Geographic Markup Language) was published to meet the requirements on 3D indoor spatial data for several geospatial applications for indoor space more than simple visualization. It means that it becomes a critical functional requirement to convert triangular mesh representation in 3DS or COLLADA to IndoorGML. In this paper we propose a framework of the conversion, which consists of geometric, topological, and semantic construction of data from triangular meshes. An experiment carried out to validate the proposed framework is also presented in the paper.

  • The process of generating basic modeling data in product design and production design is very important and it takes a lot of time to produce. To overcome these shortcomings, 3D scanning technology is emerging that can easily acquire modeling data. In this paper, we propose a technique to convert the image data from the image data to the modeling data after shooting the objects in the space, and generate the basic modeling data applicable to the product design. It also suggests ways to redirect and utilize the basic modeling data of the product.

  • 3D point data is utilized in various industry domains for its high accuracy to the surface information of an object. It is substantially utilized in geography for terrain scanning and analysis. Generally, 3D point data need to be changed by Gridding which produces a regularly spaced array of z values from irregularly spaced xyz data. But it requires long processing time and high resource cost to interpolate grid coordination. Kriging interpolation in Gridding has attracted because Kriging interpolation has more accuracy than other methods. However it haven't been used frequently since a processing is complex and slow. In this paper, we presented a parallel Gridding algorithm which contains Kriging and an application of grid data structure to fit MapReduce paradigm to this algorithm. Experiment was conducted for 1.6 and 4.3 billions of points from Airborne LiDAR files using our proposed MapReduce structure and the results show that the total execution time is decreased more than three times to the convention sequential program on three heterogenous clusters.

  • Today, technologies that can acquire modeling data by using image are emerging. That 3D modeling production method, which is frequently utilized in contents industries, creates modeling data by using creator's intuitive sense, with drawings sketched without accurate measurement tools is also true. Recently, technologies that can facilitate modification and amendment of existing design by producing and reorganizing three-dimensional data of a sculpture through combination of image information are developing. This thesis gives suggestion of how to utilize and study the way to produce accurate three-dimensional modeling data by utilizing multiple image data.

A Study on registration using homography for 3D modeling (호모그래피를 이용한 3D 모델링을 위한 데이터 정합에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the efficient method of 3D data registration. Three-dimensional data including the two-dimensional image acquisition apparatus and the position information are acquired at an arbitrary angle with each other. This paper proposes the more accurate and faster matching method by using this information. Four image points founded from 2D images match the volumetric size of the model and compute the homography of the axis for registration between two 3D data sets. The advantages of the proposed algorithm are the repeating process is unnecessary and the process time is faster than prvious method.

  • The range-based method is easy to get the 3D data in detail, but the image-based is not. In this paper, I suggests the new approach to get the 3D data in detail from the magnified stereo image. Main idea is using the magnifying lens. The magnifying lens not only magnifies the object but also increases the depth resolution. The relation between the amplification of the disparity and the increase of the depth resolution is verified mathematically and the method to improve the original 3D data is suggested.
