Borehole Data is geotechnical information provided so that workers can safely perform construction at the field. It creates 3D data and supports viewing as a 3D image. Currently, all Korean companies that develop programs using 3D visualization use the MVS program developed by C Tech Development Corporation. However, the MVS program is a commercial program, and it is difficult to use MVS in 3D related programs developed by Korean Companies. In this paper, we propose to develop a program that can replace MVS to generate a 3D stratum model from clustered borehole information using Python's Gempy open-source. The 3D stratum model program can creates point data for each stratum and can creates a surface for each stratum through interpolation. Then, the 3D stratum model program is completed by merging the surfaces of each stratum. It was confirmed that there was no difference when a 3D model was created and compared with the MVS program and the proposed program from the borehole data of a Goyang area.
In this paper we propose an extended billboarding method for rendering trees. It's difficult circumstance that PC renders forest by general polygon rendering in real-time, because tree object consists of tremendous leaves and limbs. Our method re-creates an appropriate texture image by 3D image warping equation each frame, and we use it for a billboarding method. For speed up, we use warping method with a image pyramid and image caching.
As yet the use of 3D scanning technology has been limited to documentation, preservation and monitoring in cultural and natural heritage domain. Appropriate visualization of precise geometric information in scan data can support scientific interpretation of the domain experts. We studied the rendering techniques which visualize the required features from scanned models, and proposed a 3D scan data visualization pipeline, rendering methods, and a classification scheme. As a case study, we analyzed the traditional method in the study of dinosaur tracks and performed the visualization of 3D scanned models. A user test based on the result confirmed an effectiveness of the proposed method. This research showed a practical method in which 3D scanned models can be used to effective interpretation of heritage.

This study presents an application of GIS technologies to construct the graphic user interface for 3-dimensional exhibition of the results obtained by ocean hydrodynamic model. In coastal management studies, GIS provide a receptacle for scattered data from diverse sources and an improvement of the 3D visualization of such data. Within the frame of a GIS a variety of analytical, statistical and modeling tools can be applied to transform data and make them suitable for a given application. A 3D hydrodynamic model was driven by time-dependent external forcing such as tide, wind velocity, temperature. salinity, river discharge, and solar radiation under the open boundary condition. The Jinhae bay was selected as a case study. Here, we have used GeoMania v2.5 GIS software and its 3D Analyst extension module to visualize hydrodynamic model result that were simulated around the Jinhae bay.

Meteorological data contains observation and numerical weather prediction model output data. The computerized analysis and visualization of meteorological data often requires very high computing capability due to the large size and complex structure of the data. Because the meteorological data is frequently formed in multi-variables, 3-dimensional and time-series form, it is very important to visualize and analyze the data in 3D spatial domain in order to get more understanding about the meteorological phenomena. In this research, we developed interactive 3-dimensional visualization techniques for visualizing meteorological data on a PC environment such as volume rendering, iso-surface rendering or stream line. The visualization techniques developed in this research are expected to be effectively used as basic technologies not only for deeper understanding and more exact prediction about meteorological environments but also for scientific and spatial data visualization research in any field from which three dimensional data comes out such as oceanography, earth science, and aeronautical engineering.
The recent 3D visualization such as volume rendering, iso-surface rendering or stream line visualization gives more understanding about structures or distribution of data in a space and, moreover, the real-time rendering of a scene enables the animation of time-series data. Because the meteorological data is frequently formed as multi-variables, 3-dimensional and time-series data, the spatial analysis, time-series analysis, vector display, and animation techniques can do important roles to get more understanding about data. In this research, our aim is to develop the 3-dimensional visualization techniques for meteorological data in the PC environment by using IDL. The visualization technology from :his research will be used as basic technology not only for the deeper understanding and the more exact prediction about meteorological environments but also for the scientific and spatial data visualization research in any field from which three-dimensional data comes out such as oceanography, earth science, or aeronautical engineering.

The needs for reusable 3D visualization tool has been being raised in various industries. Especially in the defense modeling and simulation (M&S) domain, there are abundant researches about reusable and interoperable visualization system, since it has a critical role to the efficient decision making by offering diverse validation and analyzing processes. To facilitate the effectiveness, states-of-the-arts M&S systems are applying VR (Virtual Reality) or AR (Augmented Reality) technologies. To reduce the work burden authors design a collaborative visualization environment based on a commercial game engine Unity3D. We define the requirements of the warfare simulation by analyzing pros and cons of existing tools and engines such as SIMDIS or Vega, and apply functionalities of the commercial game engine to satisfy the requirements. A prototype has been implemented as the collaborative visualization environment of iCAVE at KAIST, which is a facility for immersive virtual environment. The facility is intraoperative with smart devices.
Simulation visualization technology is an important constituent through which users directly interact with simulators. Simulator users have a needs for more fast, realistic and intuitive visualization. Though hardware-related performances such as computing power and visual equipment have been grown, the limits have existed in graphics rendering engines generally used in marine simulator up to now. This paper has focused on the review of graphic rendering engines available for simulation visualization. We had deduced system requirements for visualization of ship handling simulation, had surveyed graphic rendering engines as commercial and open source, and analyzed strengths and weakness of them. The feasibility study for simulation visualization of tug-barge transportation with an open source graphics rendering engine(OGRE3D) has been demonstrated.
