  • Coarse-grained reconfigurable architectures (CGRAs) present a potential of high compute throughput with energy efficiency. A CGRA consists of an array of functional units (FU), which communicate with each other through an interconnect network containing transmission nodes and register files. To achieve high performance from the software solutions mapped onto CGRAs, modulo scheduling of loops is generally employed. One of the key challenges in modulo scheduling for CGRAs is to explicitly handle routings of operands from a source to a destination operations through various routing resources. Existing modulo schedulers for CGRAs are slow because finding a valid routing is generally a searching problem over a large space, even with the guidance of well-defined cost metrics. Applications in traditional embedded multimedia domains are regarded relatively tolerant to a slow compile time in exchange of a high quality solution. However, many rapidly growing domains of applications, such as 3D graphics, require a fast compilation. Entrances of CGRAs to these domains have been blocked mainly due to its long compile time. We attack this problem by utilizing patternized routes, for which resources and time slots for a success can be estimated in advance when a source operation is placed. By conservatively reserving predefined resources at predefined time slots, future routings originated from the source operation are guaranteed. Experiments on a real-world 3D graphics benchmark suite show that our scheduler improves the compile time up to 6000 times while achieving average 70% throughputs of the state-of-art CGRA modulo scheduler, edge-centric modulo scheduler (EMS).

  • In this paper, we proposed an intra coding method with merging intra prediction mode to achieve intra coding gain. The proposed method uses signaling of prediction mode with merging prediction modes, which is different from the conventional method. If the number of blocks that has the same prediction mode compared to that to be predicted from neighboring blocks exceeds the predefined threshold, then the proposed method is used in order to reduce bits of intra prediction mode for coding efficiency. Otherwise the conventional method is used. Experimental results show the proposed method achieves the PSNR gain of about 0.05 dB in RD curve and reduces the bit rates about 1 % compared with H.264/AVC. In particular, the PSNR gain of about 0.1 dB in RD curve and reduces the bit rates about 1.7 % compared with H.264/AVC at low bit-rates. we can know that the proposed method is efficient tool at low bit-rates.

  • In this paper, a frequency split type broadband drive amplifier operating in the L, S and C bands was designed and fabricated. Transistor is difficult to efficiently use when the fractional bandwidth of the drive amplifier is more than 100%, In particular, the characteristics of the driving amplifier are important for operating the power amplifier in which the characteristics of the output power and the efficiency are sensitively changed according to the frequency band. A frequency split methods was applied to maximize the bandwidth of a drive amplifier and to divide the output of the drive amplifier into low band and high band so that the transistor of the power amplifier located at the rear of the drive amplifier can be efficiently used. The designed drive amplifier was fabricated in GaAs HBT technology and 9-layer SiP, and verified by the measurements. The fabricated drive amplifier shows a gain of more than 8 dB and an output power of more than 15 dBm in the operating frequency range.

  • Since the permanent shutdown of the Kori No. 1 reactor, research on nuclear power plant decommissioning has been actively conducted. The core facilities (reactor pressure vessel, steam generator, reactor coolant pump, and pressurizer) of a nuclear power plant have the highest radioactivity among the structures of a nuclear power plant, and the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) is the most radioactive object other than the nuclear fuel. In order to dismantle them, accurate preliminary information (2D, 3D models, etc.) and radiological characterization of the dismantling object are required, as well as feasibility studies of dismantling equipment and dismantling processes. However, it is impossible to review the dismantling process with only prior information and radiological characterization, and when using physical mock-ups, simulation and training in a virtual environment are necessary due to the difficulty of applying various dismantling equipment. In this paper, we developed a remote decommissioning training system that can improve the remote decommissioning technology of the nuclear power plant decommissioning process and the decommissioning skills of decommissioning workers by applying virtual reality and haptic technology.

  • System for three degrees of freedom plus (3DoF+) and 6DoF requires multi-view high resolution 360 video transmission to provide user viewport adaptive 360 video streaming. In this paper, we implement 3DoF+ 360 video compression system which removes the redundancy between multi-view videos and merges the residual into one video to provide high quality 360 video corresponding to an user's head movement efficiently. Implementations about 3D warping based redundancy removal method between 3DoF+ 360 videos and residual extraction and merger are explained in this paper. With the proposed system, 20.14% of BD-rate reduction in maximum is shown compared to traditional high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) based system.

  • Personal broadcasting utilizing Vtuber, a virtual creator made of 2D or 3D avatars, has recently appeared and is growing in popularity. Vtuber is a virtual person who broadcasts on the Internet using 2D or 3D avatars with real-time motion capture and computer graphics technologies. While the personal broadcasting industry utilizing Vtuber is proliferating, related studies have mainly concentrated on technical issues. Therefore, in this study, the antecedent factors that form the technical characteristics and virtual creator characteristics of Vtuber personal broadcasting are derived using the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) model. Then the effect of these factors on viewer pleasure and satisfaction, which lead to increased paid sponsorship is to be examined. Furthermore, we investigate how this influencing mechanism fluctuates based on the avatar type (2D vs. 3D). This study contributes to empirical examinations of viewers' paid sponsorship intention in Vtuber personal broadcasting through the S-O-R model. It also offers insights that technological or virtual creator characteristics could improve viewers' pleasure, satisfaction, and even paid sponsorship.

  • Due to the popularization of the Extended Reality, research is actively underway to implement human motion in real-time 3D animation. In particular, Microsoft developed Kinect cameras for 3D motion information can be obtained without the burden of facilities and with simple operation, real-time animation can be generated by combining with 3D formats such as FBX. Compared to the marker-based motion capture system, however, Kinect has low accuracy due to its lack of estimated performance of joint information. In this paper, two algorithms are proposed to correct joint estimation errors in order to realize natural human motion in motion capture animation system in Kinect camera-based FBX format. First, obtain the position information of a person with a Kinect and create a depth map to correct the wrong joint position value using the human body segment length constraint information, and estimate the new rotation value. Second, the pre-set joint motion range constraint is applied to the existing and estimated rotation value and implemented in FBX to eliminate abnormal behavior. From the experiment, we found improvements in human behavior and compared errors between algorithms to demonstrate the superiority of the system.

  • Recently, in various fields such as games, movies, and animation, content that uses motion capture to build body models and create characters to express in 3D space is increasing. Studies are underway to generate animations using RGB-D cameras to compensate for problems such as the cost of cinematography in how to place joints by attaching markers, but the problem of pose estimation accuracy or equipment cost still exists. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a system that inputs RGB images into a joint estimation network and converts the results into 3D data to create FBX format animations in order to reduce the equipment cost required for animation creation and increase joint estimation accuracy. First, the two-dimensional joint is estimated for the RGB image, and the three-dimensional coordinates of the joint are estimated using this value. The result is converted to a quaternion, rotated, and an animation in FBX format is created. To measure the accuracy of the proposed method, the system operation was verified by comparing the error between the animation generated based on the 3D position of the marker by attaching a marker to the body and the animation generated by the proposed system.

  • This study discussesresearch and development of large-sized 3D printers that can be applied to construction and civil engineering for various designs of protective casing on foam liner for concrete exteriors. The consistent use of concrete represents the current surroundings. However, concrete exteriors in Korea have not considered the regional characteristics, but the concrete has been poured solely for economical aspects for the last decade or two. There are many cases of poor installation and not enough design development projects to correct it. This study was conducted to apply various patterns, regional characteristics, and 3D printing for protective casing design for foam liner to create various designs for the concrete walls. Therefore, we started researching on a large 3D printer, and designed and developed this system. Considering the chronological process, the properties of concrete structures were identified, the application of designs for concrete in Korea and abroad and the 3D printing materials for the protective casing were surveyed and analyzed, and a stereotype was produced in the first year to study designs for the beauty of concrete surfaces. In the second year, images of regional characteristics were gathered, design ideas for regional promotion were derived, virtual images were produced along with design modeling to simulate the appearances, and verify the effect of application and promotion. Finally, in the third year, the 3D printer for concrete foam liner was constantly improved to analyze the 3D printing program and the various library elements to complete an actual large-sized 3D printer.
