  • The history repeatedly shows that designers have sought their creative inspiration from fine arts. was also influenced by contemporary art such as surrealism or installment works. This thesis aims to examine the inter-relationship between contemporary art and contemporary furniture design with examples of organic modernism and minimalism furniture design. Also, will be analyzed in light of such interdisciplinary relationship, explaining the significances of in scholastic perspective. The previous research analysis of finding out examples of how fine art and design sought mutual exchanges to develop will help to examine the significance of in the context of art history. This analysis could be used as an important academic material to understand the origin and characteristics of modern design furniture. The features of surrealism and minimalism will be discussed in light of their influences on and interactive relationship with organic modernism furniture design. This provides important basic material to further analyze . Furthermore, the artistic language and plastic features of contemporary sculptors and installment artists such as Jean Arp, Richard Serra and Anish Kapoor will be examined to show how integrated and combined main features of those artists. extracted cognitive and phenomenological aspects from Serra's works that overwhelm viewers with their massive scales. Somewhat abstract yet somewhat primitive and dynamic features of Arp's works was also referred to . are made of FRP, composed of three partitions and six stools. This work was analyzed in aspect of form, composition and function. They have organic and flexible formations with free composition availability which endow free disassemble and arrangement. Also, they have cognitive features as of small elements are freely dispersed upon spaces to bestow certain presences. Based on this, this thesis could develop scholastic researches that examine the mutual and interactive relationship between contemporary art and furniture design with much more detailed discussions and examples.

  • Representing a positive integer in terms of a sum of smaller numbers with certain conditions has been studied since MacMahon [5] pioneered perfect partitions. The complete partitions is in this category and studied by the second author[6]. In this paper, we study complete partitions with more specified completeness, which we call the double-complete partitions.

  • Recently, Gireesh, Shivashankar, and Naika [11] found some infinite classes of congruences for the 3- and the 9-regular cubic partitions modulo powers of 3. We extend their study to all the 3k-regular cubic partitions. We also find new families of congruences.

  • For a positive integer n, let μd(n) be the number of multiplicative d-dimensional partitions of ${\prod\limits_{i=1}^{n}}p_i$, where pi denotes the ith prime. The number of multiplicative partitions of a square free number with n prime factors is the Bell number μ1(n) = n. By the definition of the function μd(n), it can be seen that for all positive integers n, μ1(n) = Tn(1) = n, where Tn(x) is the nth Touchard (or exponential ) polynomial. We show that, for a positive n, μ2(n) = 2nTn(1/2). We also conjecture that for all m, μ3(m) ≤ 3mTm(1/3).

  • In 2018, Andrews introduced the partition functions ${\mathfrak{EO}}$(n) and ${\bar{\mathfrak{EO}}}$(n). The first of these denotes the number of partitions of n in which every even part is less than each odd part, and the second counts the number of partitions enumerated by the first in which only the largest even part appears an odd number of times. In 2021, Pore and Fathima introduced a new partition function ${\mathfrak{EO}}_e$(n) which counts the number of partitions of n which are enumerated by ${\bar{\mathfrak{EO}}}$(n) together with the partitions enumerated by ${\bar{\mathfrak{EO}}}$(n) where all parts are odd and the number of parts is even. They also proved some particular congruences for ${\bar{\mathfrak{EO}}}$(n) and ${\mathfrak{EO}}_e$(n). In this paper, we establish infinitely many families of congruences modulo 2, 4, 5 and 8 for ${\bar{\mathfrak{EO}}}$(n) and modulo 4 for ${\mathfrak{EO}}_e$(n). For example, if p ≥ 5 is a prime with Legendre symbol $({\frac{-3}{p}})=-1$, then for all integers n ≥ 0 and α ≥ 0, we have ${\bar{\mathfrak{EO}}}(8{\cdot}p^{2{\alpha}+1}(pn+j)+{\frac{19{\cdot}p^{2{\alpha}+2}-1}{3}}){\equiv}0$ (mod 8); 1 ≤ j ≤ (p - 1).

  • Effects of physical attributes of workstation enclosures on the performance of office workers with different difficult levels of office tasks and moods are presented. Performance scores in complex tasks were expected to increase with greater workstation enclosures while those in simple tasks would be the same. Mood ratings were expected to be higher in lower workstation enclosures. Performance of 102 college students on ambient office sounds (45 dBA) with office tasks were measured for 100 minutes under three different workplace enclosures: (1) four foot partitions on two sides; (2) six foot partitions on three sides; and (3) a fully enclosed workstation with eight foot partitions. The tasks were to memorize a paragraph with 130 words (complex task) and to search phone numbers (simple task). The complex task performance in the fully enclosed workstation was increased compared to that in the workstation with four foot partitions (p < 0.001) and to that in the workstation with six foot partitions (p < 0.05). However, occupants in the fully enclosed workstation with office sounds without speech generally gave higher mood ratings. It indicates that closed individual offices may offer important contributions to collaborative work as well as individual productivity. These findings would help design community revise open plan design to increase collaboration among office workers.

  • The natural convective flow in a two-dimensional square enclosure with horizontal partitions is investigated numerically. The enclosure was composed of the lower hot and the upper cold horizontal walls and the adiabatic vertical walls, and two identical partitions were positioned perpendicularly at the mid-height of the right and left walls, respectively. The governing equations are solved by using the finite element method with Galerkin method. Calculations are made for different partition lengths, partition conductivites, and Rayleigh numbers based on the temperature difference between two horizontal walls and the enclosure height with water(Pr=4.95). An oscillatory motion of the natural convective flow is affected significantly by the variation of the gap width and Rayleigh number. When the gap width is comparatively short, the heat transfer rate is raised with the increase of the thermal conductivity of partitions. However, for sufficiently large gap widths at higher Rayleigh numbers, the average Nusselt numbers of the conductive partitions are smaller than those of the adiabatic partitions.

  • Three-dimensional integrated circuits (3D ICs) implement heterogeneous systems in the same platform by stacking several planar chips vertically with through-silicon via (TSV) technology. 3D ICs have some advantages, including shorter interconnect lengths, higher integration density, and improved performance. Thermal-aware design would enhance the reliability and performance of the interconnects and devices. In this paper, we propose thermal-aware floorplanning with min-cut die partitioning for 3D ICs. The proposed min-cut die partition methodology minimizes the number of connections between partitions based on the min-cut theorem and minimizes the number of TSVs by considering a complementary set from the set of connections between two partitions when assigning the partitions to dies. Also, thermal-aware floorplanning methodology ensures a more even power distribution in the dies and reduces the peak temperature of the chip. The simulation results show that the proposed methodologies reduced the number of TSVs and the peak temperature effectively while also reducing the run-time.
