  • A concept network is an essential knowledge base for semantic search engines, personalized search systems, recommendation systems, and text mining. Recently, studies of extending concept representation using external ontology have been frequently conducted. We thus propose a new way of building 3-dimensional text model-based concept networks using the world knowledge-level Wikipedia ontology. In fact, it is desirable that 'concepts' derived from text documents are defined according to the theoretical framework of formal concept analysis, since relationships among concepts generally change over time. In this paper, concept networks hidden in a given document collection are extracted more reasonably by representing a concept as a term-by-document matrix.

  • The fault can be defined, in a geological context, as a rupture plane showing a significant displacement generated in the case that the local tectonic stress exceeds a threshold of rupture along a particular plane in a rock mass. The hydrogeological properties of this fault can be varied with the spatial distribution and the connectivity of void spaces in a fault. When the formation of fault includes the process of the creation and the destruction of void spaces, a complex relation between the displacement along the fault and the variation of void spaces. In this study, the variation of flow with the geometrical characteristics of the fault is simulated and analyzed by using the three-dimensional discrete fracture network model. Three different geometrical characteristics of the faults are considered in this study: 1) simple hydraulic conductive plane, 2) damaged zone, and 3) relay structure of faults.

  • In underwater signal processing, separating individual signals from mixed signals has long been a challenge due to low signal quality. The common method using Short-time Fourier transform for spectrogram analysis has faced criticism for its complex parameter optimization and loss of phase data. We propose a Triple-path Recurrent Neural Network, based on the Dual-path Recurrent Neural Network's success in long time series signal processing, to handle three-dimensional tensors from multi-channel sensor input signals. By dividing input signals into short chunks and creating a 3D tensor, the method accounts for relationships within and between chunks and channels, enabling local and global feature learning. The proposed technique demonstrates improved Root Mean Square Error and Scale Invariant Signal to Noise Ratio compared to the existing method.

  • An interconnection network can be represented as a graph where a vertex corresponds to a node and an edge corresponds to a link. The diameter of an interconnection network is the maximum length of the shortest paths between all pairs of vertices. The fault diameter of an interconnection network G is the maximum length of the shortest paths between all two fault-free vertices when there are $_k(G)-1$ or less faulty vertices, where $_k(G)$ is the connectivity of G. The fault diameter of an R-regular graph G with diameter of 3 or more and connectivity ${\tau}$ is at least diam(G)+1 where diam(G) is the diameter of G. We show that the fault diameter of a 2-dimensional $m{\times}n$ torus with $m,n{\geq}3$ is max(m,n) if m=3 or n=3; otherwise, the fault diameter is equal to its diameter plus 1. We also show that in $d({\geq}3)$-dimensional $k_1{\times}k_2{\times}{\cdots}{\times}k_d$ torus with each $k_i{\geq}3$, there are 2d mutually disjoint paths joining any two vertices such that the lengths of all these paths are at most diameter+1. The paths joining two vertices u and v are called to be mutually disjoint if the common vertices on these paths are u and v. Using these mutually disjoint paths, we show that the fault diameter of $d({\geq}3)$-dimensional $k_1{\times}k_2{\times}{\cdots}{\times}k_d$ totus with each $k_i{\geq}3$ is equal to its diameter plus 1.

  • Silica wet gels were prepared ken water glass ($29\;wt%\;SiO_{2}$) by using Amberlite as a ion exchange resin. After washing in distilled water, the wet gels were further aged in a solution of TEOS/EtOH to strengthen of 3-dimensional network structure. As increase TEOS content in aging solution, BET surface area and porosity of the ambient dried silica aerogels were significantly decreased, and average pore diameter was also decreased 30 nm to -10 nm. Also, higher density and compressive strength were obtained in case of higher TEOS content. This is due to precipitation of $SiO_{2}$ nano particles by TEOS. Hence, TEOS addition plays an important role of both strengthening and stiffness of silica wet gel network. By adding over 30 vol% TEOS, a crack-free monolithic silica aerogel tiles were obtained and its density, compressive strength, and thermal conductivity were shown $0.232g/cm^{3}$, 7.3 MPa, and 0.029 W/mk, respectivly.

  • In this paper, we present the experimentation and demonstration results of Korea-Japan high-speed satellite ATM network using Ka-band Koreasat-3. This experimentation consists of two items - TCP/IP and MPEG-2 video/audio transmission over 155Mbps ATM based satellite network. The goals of this experimentation are to measure TCP performance when the only standard mechanisms approved by IETF in order to improve TCP performance in LFN(long fat network) are used and to derive the effects of quality for the high definition video stream when MPEG-2 TS is transmitted through 155Mbps satellite ATM link. With on the results of the experiments, we demonstrated the applications suitable to the high-speed satellite ATM network. The first TCP/IP and MPEG-2 transmission experiments were done at the rate of 155Mbps using Ka-band KOREASAT-3 between Korea and Japan, and its results will be demonstrated with the ATM-based 3D-HDV(3 dimensional High definition video) and HDTV during 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup Soccer Game.

  • In analyzing whole surface of non-topographic objects, the design of multi-station photogrammetric network must involve a number of questions such as geometric configuration of exposure stations, imaging geometry, control point configuration or weight allowance of adjustments. Above all, the surveying of the interior of narrow longitudinal structures needs the design of special photogrammetric network. The main objective of this paper is to suggest the schemes for solving difficult problems attendant upon whole inside-surface analysis of structure and to improve the accuracy and reliability of final measurements. For it, the multi-station exposure network suitable to shape and size of the inside of the structure was designed. Then three dimensional data were acquired by bundle adjustments derived from multi-station photos and the effects of network design factors on accuracy of measurements were contemplated. Also, the algorithm for detection of blunders was developed here is expected to lead to improvement of the reliability of photogrammetric solutions.

  • Recently, reinforcement learning has been used to improve the communication performance of flying ad-hoc networks (FANETs) and to design mobility models. Mobility model is a key factor for predicting and controlling the movement of unmmaned aerial vehicle (UAVs). In this paper, we designed and analyzed the performance of Q-learning with fourier basis function approximation and Deep-Q Network (DQN) models for optimal path finding in a three-dimensional virtual environment where UAVs operate. The experimental results show that the DQN model is more suitable for optimal path finding than the Q-learning model in a three-dimensional virtual environment.

  • In this paper, shape optimization based on three-dimensional flow analysis has been performed for impeller design of centrifugal compressor. To evaluate the objective function of an isentropic efficiency, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved with SST (Shear Stress Transport) turbulence model. The governing equations are discretized by finite volume approximations. The optimization techniques based on the radial basis neural network method are used for the optimization. Latin hypercube sampling as design of experiments is used to generate thirty design points within design space. Sequential quadratic programming is used to search the optimal point based on the radial basis neural network model. Four geometrical variables concerning impeller shape are selected as design variables. The results show that the isentropic efficiency is enhanced effectively from the shape optimization by the radial basis neural network method.
