  • Fen(分°) is the proportional dimension unit of the standard timber section on Yingzaofashi(營造法式), and there is a phrase that not only structural members but the whole structural design of a building also use Fen as the dimension unit on the book. But in fact only the section dimensions of structural members are recorded by Fen, but the design dimensions are recorded by Chi(尺) on the book. Other historical records also described the building size by Chi. So there has been long-standing debate on the phase in Chinese architectural history society, including the recent confrontation on the analysis of survey figures of the east great hall of Foguangsi temple(佛光寺 東大殿). This paper analyzes all the records about the size of structural members and section planning on the book to make various calculation and evaluation. And it makes a survey of Cai(材) as the dimension and design unit between Chi and Fen through geometric analysis. Cai might be a rough unit of measurement in terms of structural and proportional scheming on Yingzaofashi, and the full size Cai(足材) had been a building scheming module before the Song dynasty.

  • The irregular shape of the disturbances is a fundamental issue for mining engineers at the Sidi Chennane phosphate deposit in Morocco. A precise classification of disturbed areas is therefore necessary to understand their part in the overall volume of phosphate. In this paper, we investigate the theoretical and practical aspects of studying and measuring multifractal spectrums as a defining and representative parameter for distinguishing between the phosphate deposit of a low rate of disturbances and the deposit of a high rate. An empirical multifractal approach was used by analyzing the disturbed areas through the geoelectric images of an area located in the Sidi Chennane phosphate deposit. The Generalized fractal dimension, D(q), the Singularities of strength, α(q), the local dimension, f(α) and their conjugate parameter the mass exponent, τ(q) as well as f(α)-α spectrum were the common multifractal parameters used. The results reported show wide variations of the analyzed images, indicating that the multifractal analysis is an indicator for evaluate and characterize the disturbed areas within the phosphates deposits through the studied geoelectric images. This could be the starting point for future work aimed at improving phosphate exploration planning.

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the aggregate fragmentation in wet-sieving and to evaluate the relationship between the aggregate fragmentation fractal dimension and macro-porosity of upland soils, using three different textural types of soils including Gopyeng series (Fine, Typic Hapludalfs), Gyuam series (Fine silty over coarse silty, Fluvaquentic Eutrudepts), and Jungdong series (Coarse loamy, Typic Udifluvents) located in Gyeonggi province. Undisturbed soil samples with five replicates were seasonally sampled and used for measuring water stable aggregate, macropores, and physico-chemical properties of soils. The aggregate stability in wet-sieving was digitalized as three types of fragmentation fractal dimension ($D_f$), geometric mean diameter (GMD), and mean weight diameter (MWD). $D_f$ had higher correlation with GMD than with MWD. Seasonal aggregate stability showed the highest values in summer, and decreased in the order of spring and autumn. The macroporosity had higher in topsoil, in autumn, and in ridge, than in plow pan layer, in summer, and in row, respectively. The relationship between $D_f$ and macroporosity, especially more than 99 m, showed high correlation only in soils with $D_f$ less than 3.1, which means more aggregated soils compared to soils with $D_f$ more than 3.1. Besides, in the soils with the fractal dimension less than 3.1, the power function relation between saturated hydraulic conductivity and macroporosity more than 99 m had relatively high determinant coefficient, and vice versa. Therefore, it could be thought that fragmentation fractal dimension is available for confirming macroporosity induced from aggregation.

  • This research aims to investigate the representative affective words and the structure among them to scrutinize user's affect revealed in the ride film based on three dimension stereoscopic image. Previous studies related to the affect were reviewed and the affect words well-suited for three dimension stereoscopic image were collected. Suitability test for two hundred six basic affect words gathered as the result was done from sixty two typical users and four experts. Seventy seven candidate affect words have been selected and by the exclusion of similarity among them, finally twenty six words were extracted from the reduction process. Consequently fifteen representative words and the structure as the network between each word were revealed by using free association test based on twenty six affect words. We propose the affect research including sensors, emotions, and affects related to moving image rather than still mage during doing research affects in most of the previous studies. The future work includes the affect space and the affect effect for ride film based on three dimension stereoscopic image. This study can be adopted practically in the production of ride films and provided with a basic design guideline.

  • The objective grading system for the facial palsy is needed. In this study, the facial palsy grading system was developed with combination of three dimensional image processing and Nottingham scale. The developed system is composed of 4 parts; measurement part, image processing part, computational part, facial palsy evaluation & display part. Two web cam were used to get images. The 8 marker on face were recognized at image processing part. The absolute three dimensional positions of markers were calculated at computational part. Finally, Nottingham scale was calculated and displayed at facial palsy evaluation & display part. The effects of measurement method and position of subject on Nottingham scale were tested. The markers were measured with 2-dimension and 3-dimension. The subject was look at the camera with $0^{\circ}$ and $11^{\circ}$ rotation. The change of Scale was large in the case of $11^{\circ}$ rotation with 2-dimension measurement. So, the developed system with 3-dimension measurement is robust to the orientation change of subject. The developed system showed the robustness of grading error originated from subject posture.

  • We extend a generalized partially linear single-index model and newly define a generalized partially double-index model (GPDIM). The philosophy of sufficient dimension reduction is adopted in GPDIM to estimate unknown coefficient vectors in the model. Subsequently, various combinations of popular sufficient dimension reduction methods are constructed with the best combination among many candidates determined through a bootstrapping procedure that measures distances between subspaces. Distinguishing values are newly defined to match the estimates to the corresponding population coefficient vectors. One of the strengths of the proposed model is that it can investigate the appropriateness of GPDIM over a single-index model. Various numerical studies confirm the proposed approach, and real data application are presented for illustration purposes.

  • The aim of this study was to develop a portable electronic nose system for freshness measurement of meats, which could be an alterative of subjective measurements of human nose and time-consuming measurements of conventional gas chromatograph methods. The portable electronic system was o optimized by comparing the measurement sensitivity and hardware efficiency, such as power consumption and dimension reduction throughout two stages of the prototypes. The electronic nose systems were constructed using an array of four different metal oxide semiconductor sensors. Two different configurations of sensor array with dimension were designed and compared the performance respectively. The final prototype of the system showed much improved performance on saving power consumption and dimension reduction without decrease of measurement sensitivity of pork freshness. The results show the potential of constructing a portable electronic system for the measurement of meat quality with high sensitivity and energy efficiency.

  • A series of numerical experiments are performed to examine the generation of inter-annual variations by an inertial current in an idealized semi-enclosed basin with dimension comparable to that of the East Sea. Model results indicate that the inter-annual variations dominate the kinetic energy spectrum with a peak around the time scales of 2-3 years. These variations are mostly due to the westward propagating meanders and large eddies induced by the instability of current, indicating their dependency on the eddy-resolving capacity of the model. They are generated in the interior of the basin but their energy is largely confined near the western boundary such that the east-west dimension of the basin cannot be considered as a critical factor as long as the basin covers enough western boundary region. Overall, this study suggests that the inter-annual variation observed in the East Sea is due to the meandering and large eddies induced by the instability of the current.

  • Previous studies have demonstrated that the three dimensions of Triple Bottom Line (TBL : economic, social, and environmental responsibility) indirectly affect product/corporate evaluation through reciprocity perception and trust (expertize-based trust and benevolence-based trust). Different from the past studies, this study investigates on the indirect effects as well as the direct effects of the three dimensions on product/corporate evaluation. The empirical results can be summarized as follows. First, reciprocity perception affects benevolence-based trust but it does not expertize-based trust. Second, the effect of economic dimension on product/corporate evaluation is not affected by reciprocity perception and benevolence-based trust, however, the effects of social dimension and environmental dimension on product/corporate evaluation are affected by reciprocity perception and benevolence-based trust.
