As the frequency of torrential rains and typhoons increases due to climate change, the frequency of occurrence of debris flow is also increasing. In particular, in the case of Kangwon-do, the occurrence of damage caused by mountain disasters is increasing as it has a topographical characteristic where the mountains and the coast are in contact. In order to analyze the flow characteristics in the sedimentary part of the debris flow, input data were constructed through numerical maps and field data, and a two-dimensional model, FLO-2D, was simulated. The damaged area was divided into the inflow part of the debris flow, the village center, and the vicinity of the port, and the flow center and flow velocity of the debris flow were simulated and compared with field survey data. As a result, the maximum flow depth was found to be 2.4 m at the debris flow inlet, 2.7 m at the center of the village, and 1.4 m at the port adjacent to the port so the results were similar when compared to the field survey. And in the case of the maximum flow velocity, it was calculated as 3.6 m/s at the debris flow inlet, 4.9 m/s in the center of the village and 1.2 m/s in the vicinity of the port, so It was confirmed that the maximum flow center occurred in the section where the maximum flow rate appeared.
This paper presents a longitudinal control algorithm for ensuring takeover time of autonomous vehicle using V2V communication. In the autonomous driving of more than level 3, autonomous systems should control the vehicles by itself partially. However if the driver's intervention is required for functional safety, the driver should take over the control reasonably. Autonomous driving system has to be designed so that drivers can take over the control from autonomous vehicle reasonably for driving safety. In this study, control algorithm considering takeover time has been developed based on computation method of takeover time. Takeover time is analysed by conditions of longitudinal velocity of preceding vehicle in time-velocity plane. In addition, desired clearance is derived based on takeover time. The performance evaluation of the proposed algorithm in this study was conducted using 3D vehicle model with actual driving data in Matlab/Simulink environment. The results of the performance evaluation show that the longitudinal control algorithm can control while securing takeover time reasonably.
The research presented in this paper deals with dynamic stability analysis of the graphene nanoplatelets (GPLs) reinforced composite spinning disk. The presented small-scaled structure is simulated as a disk covered by viscoelastic substrate which is two-parametric. The centrifugal and Coriolis impacts due to the spinning are taken into account. The stresses and strains would be obtained using the first-order-shear-deformable-theory (FSDT). For Poisson ratio, as well as various amounts of mass densities, the mixture rule is employed, while a modified Halpin-Tsai model is inserted for achieving the elasticity module. The structure's boundary conditions (BCs) are obtained employing GPLs reinforced composite (GPLRC) spinning disk's governing equations applying principle of Hamilton which is based on minimum energy and ultimately have been solved employing numerical approach called generalized-differential quadrature-method (GDQM). Spinning disk's dynamic properties with different boundary conditions (BCs) are explained due to the curves drawn by Matlab software. Also, the simply-supported boundary conditions is applied to edges 𝜃=𝜋/2, and 𝜃=3𝜋/2, while, cantilever, respectively, is analyzed in R=Ri, and R0. The final results reveal that the GPLs' weight fraction, viscoelastic substrate, various GPLs' pattern, and rotational velocity have a dramatic influence on the amplitude, and vibration behavior of a GPLRC rotating cantilevered disk. As an applicable result in related industries, the spinning velocity impact on the frequency is more effective in the higher radius ratio's amounts.
The current article deals with the dynamic stability, and structural improvement of vibrating electrically curved screen on the viscoelastic substrate. By considering optimum value for radius curvature of the electrically curved screen, the structure improvement of the system occurs. For modeling the electrically system, the Maxwell's' equation is developed. Hertz contact model in employed to obtain contact forces between impactor and structure. Moreover, variational methods and nonlinear von Kármán model are used to derive boundary conditions (BCs) and nonlinear governing equations of the vibrating electrically curved screen. Galerkin and Multiple scales solution approach are coupled to solve the nonlinear set of governing equations of the vibrating electrically curved screen. Along with the analytical solution, 3D finite element simulation via ABAQUS package is provided with the aid of a FE package for simulating the current system's response. The results are categorized in 3 different sections. First, effects of geometrical and material parameters on the vibrational performance and stability of the curves panel. Second, physical properties of the impactor are taken in to account and their effect on the absorbed energy and velocity profile of the impactor are presented. Finally, effect of the radius and initial velocity on the mode shapes of the current structure is demonstrated.
The present study is to evaluate the performances of flow velocity and wall shear stress in the stenosed coronary artery using human in vivo hemodynamic Parameters and computer simulation. Initial and follow-up coronary angiographics in the patients with angulated coronary stenosis are performed. Follow-up coronary angiogram demonstrated significant difference in the percent of diameter in the stenosed coronary between two groups ($Group\;1:\;40.3{\%},\;Group\;2:\;25.5{\%}$). Flow-velocity wave obtained from in vivo intracoronary Doppler ultrasound data is used for the boundary condition for the computer simulation. Spatial and temporal variations of flow velocity vector and recirculation area are drawn throughout the selected segment of coronary models. The WSS of pre- and post-intracoronary stenting are calculated from three-dimensional computer simulation. Then negative shear stresses area on 3D simulation we noted on the inner wall of the post-stenotic area before stenting. The negative WSS is disappeared after stenting. High spatial and temporal WSS before stenting fell into within physiologic WSS after stenting. This finding was prominent in Model 2. The present study suggest that hemodynamic forces exerted by pulsatile coronary circulation termed WSS might affect on the evolution of atherosclerosis within the angulated vascular curvature. The local recirculation area which has low or negative WSS, might lead to progression of atherosclerosis.
The mud deposit located to the south of Cheju Island, the East China Sea, is characterized by an upwelling system or, on occasions, a combined upwelling-downwelling system. The water mass here is associated with relatively high suspended matter concentrations. In the present study, a vertical I-D model is used to undertake numerical experiments for evaluating the upwelling and downwelling effects on the suspended particulate matter distribution patterns within the water column. The results show that: (1) because the upwelling or downwelling velocity tends to be of the same order of magnitude as the settling velocity of suspended particles, a number of different patterns of suspended matter concentration distribution are possible, depending on the relative importance of the velocities; (2) the presence of upwelling can enhance the suspended particulate matter concentration; and (3) in an upwelling-downwelling system, maximum concentrations may or may not lie in the middle of the water column, depending on, once again, the interrelationships between the opwelling/downwelling velocities and the settling velocity. Hence, the physical processes associated with upwelling/downwelling appear to be relevant to the suspended material distribution over shelf mud areas.

Wind tunnel tests of a 1/2200-scale mountainous terrain model have been carried out to investigate local wind characteristics at a bridge location in southeast Tibet, China. Flows at five key locations on the bridge at deck level were measured for 26 directions. It was observed that wind characteristics (including mean wind velocity and overall turbulence intensity) vary significantly depending on the approaching wind direction and measurement position. The wind inclination angle measured in the study fluctuated between $-18^{\circ}$ and $+16^{\circ}$ and the ratio of mean wind velocity to reference wind velocity was small when the wind inclination angles were large, especially for positive wind inclination angles. The design standard wind speed and the minimum critical wind speed for flutter rely on the wind inclination angle and should be determined from the results of such tests. The variation of wind speed with wind inclination angles should be of the asymmetry step type. The turbulence characteristics of the wind were found to be similar to real atmospheric flows.
Due to the long tectonic history and the very complex geologic formations in Korea, the anisotropic characteristics of subsurface material may often change very greatly and locally. The algorithms commonly used, however, may not give sufficiently precise computational results of traveltime data particularly for the complex and strong anisotropic model, since they are based on the two-dimensional (2D) earth and/or weak anisotropy assumptions. This study is intended to develope a three-dimensional (3D) modeling algorithm to precisely calculate the first arrival time in the complex anisotropic media. Considering the complex geology of Korea, we assume 3D TTI (tilted transversely isotropy) medium having the arbitrary symmetry axis. The algorithm includes the 2D non-linear interpolation scheme to calculate the traveltimes inside the grid and the 3D traveltime mapping to fill the 3D model with first arrival times. The weak anisotropy assumption, moreover, can be overcome through devising a numerical approach of the steepest descent method in the calculation of minimum traveltime, instead of using approximate solution. The performance of the algorithm developed in this study is demonstrated by the comparison of the analytic and numerical solutions for the homogeneous anisotropic earth as well as through the numerical experiment for the two layer model whose anisotropic properties are greatly different each other. We expect that the developed modeling algorithm can be used in the development of processing and inversion schemes of seismic data acquired in strongly anisotropic environment, such as migration, velocity analysis, cross-well tomography and so on.
Drying characteristic data for peeled ginseng were obtained to determine dominant drying factors and fitted with five selected drying models and an empirical model. Among air temperature, relative humidity and diameter of ginseng root, drying air temperature was found to be the most influencing factor on drying rate. Drying velocity appeared faster as the drying temperature increased but its effect was less at high temperature than at low temperature. Quality change during the drying process did not occur except when relative humidity was 75fb. At high relative humidity, skin color of ginseng was turned to light brown. Approximate-Diffusion and the Empirical model for drying were in a good agreement with experimental data. The models are as follows; $.$ Approximate-Diffusion model MR = A$.$exe(-k$.$1) A = 1.72 + 0.407 In(D) - 0.0000963T3 - 0.358 In(RH) + 0.0000945 RH2 B= 1.01 + 0.0195RH - 0.O0518D2 + 0.0708 In(T) - 0.492 In(RHI-D.0000933RH2$.$Empirical model MR= Cl + Cs$.$In(t) Cl= 1.14+0.382 In(D)-0.00008477a-0.139 In(RH)+0.0000664RH2 Cs=0.440-0.0224 In(D)-0.193 In(T)+0.0000464T2-0.00000771RH2
In present 3D CFD study, the method for determining leakage and rotordynamic coefficients of a plain-gas seal is suggested by using the relative coordinate system for steady-state simulation. In order to find the effect of pre-swirl speed at seal inlet, pre-swirl velocity is included as a parameter. Present analysis is verified by comparison with results acquired from Bulk-flow analysis code and published experimental results. The results of 3D CFD rotordynamic coefficients of direct stiffness(K) and cross-coupled stiffness(k) show improvements in prediction. As pre-swirl speed at seal inlet increases, k also increases to destabilize system. However, pre-swirl speed at seal inlet does not show sensitivity to the leakage and rotordynamic coefficients of K and damping(C).
