A CFD Analysis of Flow Velocity at Inlet of a Diesel Particulate Filter according to the Curved Duct Connection Conditions (곡관 연결 조건에 따른 디젤엔진 매연여과장치 입구 유속 분포의 CFD 해석)

  • The now velocity distribution at inlet of diesel Particulate filter (DPF) which is connected to each curved duct was simulated using $STAR-CD^{(R)}$. Three kinds of models which describe the shapes of the curved duct ware used for the CFD simulation. The simulation results were compared with the experimental data of velocity distribution which was obtained using a Pitot tube and 2-D positioning machine. At the $90^{\circ}$ curved connecting condition, the CFD simulation results of flow velocity distribution at inlet of the DPF showed a horse hoop shape shifted from the axial center line of the DPF. The CFD simulation results agree reasonably with those of the experiments.

  • The effort identifying positioning information of the moving object in real time has been a issue not only in sport biomechanics but also other academic areas. In order to solve this issue, this study tried to track the movement of a pitched ball that might provide an easier prediction because of a clear focus and simple movement of the object. Machine learning has been leading the research of extracting information from continuous images such as object tracking. Though the rule-based methods in artificial intelligence prevailed for decades, it has evolved into the methods of statistical approach that finds the maximum a posterior location in the image. The development of machine learning, accompanied by the development of recording technology and computational power of computer, made it possible to extract the trajectory of pitched baseball from recorded images. We present a method of baseball tracking, based on object tracking methods in machine learning. We introduce three state-of-the-art researches regarding the object tracking and show how we can combine these researches to yield a novel engine that finds trajectory from continuous pitching images. The first research is about mean shift method which finds the mode of a supposed continuous distribution from a set of data. The second research is about the research that explains how we can find the mode and object region effectively when we are given the previous image's location of object and the region. The third is about the research of representing data into features that we can deal with. From those features, we can establish a distribution to generate a set of data for mean shift. In this paper, we combine three works to track baseball's location in the continuous image frames. From the information of locations from two sets of images, we can reconstruct the real 3-D trajectory of pitched ball. We show how this works in real pitching images.

Ultrasonically Assisted Grinding for Mirror Surface Finishing of Dies with Electroplated Diamond Tools

  • This paper describes ultrasonically assisted grinding used to obtain a glossy surface quickly and precisely. High-quality surfaces are required for plastic injection molding dies used in the production of plastic parts such as dials for cellular phones. Traditionally, in order to finish the dies, manual polishing by a skilled worker has been required after the machining processes, such as electro discharge machining (EDM), which leaves an affected layer, and milling, which leaves tooling marks. However, manual polishing causes detrimental geometrical deviations of the die and consumes several days to finish a die surface. Therefore, a machining process for finishing dies without manual polishing to improve the surface roughness and form accuracy would be extremely valuable. In this study, a 3D positioning machine equipped with an ultrasonic spindle was used to conduct grinding experiments. An electroplated diamond tool was used for these experiments. Generally, diamond tools cannot grind steel because of excessive wear as a result of carbon atoms diffusing into bulk steel and chips. However, ultrasonically assisted grinding can achieve a fine surface (roughness Rz of $0.4{\mu}m$) on die steel without severe tool wear. The final aim of this study is to realize mirror surface grinding for injection molding dies without manual polishing. To do this, it is necessary to fabricate an electroplated diamond tool with high form accuracy and low run-out. This paper describes a tool-making method for high precision grinding and the grinding performance of a self-electroplated tool. The ground surface textures, tool performance and tool life were investigated A ground surface roughness Rz of 0.14 um was achieved Our results show that the spindle speed, feed rate and cross feed affected the surface texture. One tool could finish $5000mm^2$ of die steel surface without any deterioration of the ground surface roughness.

Accuracy Comparison of Spatiotemporal Gait Variables Measured by the Microsoft Kinect 2 Sensor Directed Toward and Oblique to the Movement Direction (정면과 측면에 위치시킨 마이크로 소프트 키넥트 2로 측정한 보행 시공간 변인 정확성 비교)

  • Background: The Microsoft Kinect which is a low-cost gaming device has been studied as a promise clinical gait analysis tool having satisfactory reliability and validity. However, its accuracy is only guaranteed when it is properly positioned in front of a subject. Objects: The purpose of this study was to identify the error when the Kinect was positioned at a $45^{\circ}$ angle to the longitudinal walking plane compare with those when the Kinect was positioned in front of a subject. Methods: Sixteen healthy adults performed two testing sessions consisting of walking toward and $45^{\circ}$ obliquely the Kinect. Spatiotemporal outcome measures related to stride length, stride time, step length, step time and walking speed were examined. To assess the error between Kinect and 3D motion analysis systems, mean absolute errors (MAE) were determined and compared. Results: MAE of stride length, stride time, step time and walking speed when the Kinect set in front of subjects were investigated as .36, .04, .20 and .32 respectively. MAE of those when the Kinect placed obliquely were investigated as .67, .09, .37, and .58 respectively. There were significant differences in spatiotemporal outcomes between the two conditions. Conclusion: Based on our study experience, positioning the Kinect directly in front of the person walking towards it provides the optimal spatiotemporal data. Therefore, we concluded that the Kinect should be placed carefully and adequately in clinical settings.

One of the reasons is that this industry compasses every aspects of the value chain - from raw materials to design and development, manufacturing, sales and services, and even disposal. Thus, the industry needs significant upfront capital investment and requires years of R&D and market development. As a result, this industry is dominated by a handful of global players and it is not easy for a new entrant to enter this industry. Furthermore, success is even more difficult to achieve. How did Hyundai Motor make it in this tough marketplace? Can it continue against all odds? The CAGR for last 5 years is 12% and it stands at 6th in the world. Compared to other global brands, Hyundai has geographically well-balanced sales portfolio. The quality improvement is outstanding. The brand performance follows these quality and sales improvements. In order to manage brand performance, Hyundai's marketing platformalso includes marketing performance management, brand performance management, and market driven organization. From this diagnosis, Hyundai Motor is well posed to build a strong brand. Nevertheless, there are still challenges ahead from consumer, technology, competitor, and macro-environment perspectives. To overcome these threats, the bases of competition for all successful automotive brands are various differentiation factors, including technology, performance, value proposition, or heritage. Hyundai Motor is well prepared so far. However, it is not tested against time yet whether Hyundai can overcome these unforeseeable major threats. Influence of the length and location of implants on distal extension removable partial dentures: finite element analysis (후방연장 가철성 국소의치에서 임플란트의 길이와 위치가 응력분산에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the effects of implant location and length on stress distribution and displacement in osseointegrated-implants that were associated with mandibular distal extension removable partial dentures (DERPD). Materials and Methods: A sagittally cut model with the #33, #34 teeth and a removable partial denture of the left mandible was used. Seven models were designed with NX 9.0. Models A, B, C had implants with lengths of 11, 6, 4 mm, respectively, under the denture base of the #37 artificial tooth. Models D, E, F had implants with lengths of 11, 6, 4 mm, respectively, under the denture base of the #36 artificial tooth. Model G did not have any implants. Axial force (250 N) was loaded on #36 central fossa. The finite element analysis was performed with MSC Nastran. Von Mises stress maps were plotted to visualize the results. Results: The models of #37 implant placement showed much lower stress concentration on the surrounding bone of the implant compared with #36. The #36 implant position tended to reduce displacement more than #37. Conclusion: When an IARPD is designed, the distal positioning of implant placement has more advantages in the edentulous bone of DERPD on the prognosis of short implants and the stress distribution of edentulous alveolar bone. Using implants with longer lengths are important for stress distribution. However, Additional studies are necessary of the effects of length on implant survival.

A simple technique for repositioning of the mandible by a surgical guide prepared using a three-dimensional model after segmental mandibulectomy

  • Background: Mandibular reconstruction is performed after segmental mandibulectomy, and precise repositioning of the condylar head in the temporomandibular fossa is essential for maintaining preoperative occlusion. Methods: In cases without involvement of soft tissue around the mandibular bone, the autopolymer resin in a soft state is pressed against the lower border of the mandible and buccal and lingual sides of the 3D model on the excised side. After hardening, it is shaved with a carbide bar to make the proximal and distal parts parallel to the resected surface in order to determine the direction of mandibular resection. On the other hand, in cases that require resection of soft tissue around the mandible such as cases of a malignant tumor, right and left mandibular rami of the 3D model are connected with the autopolymer resin to keep the preoperative position between proximal and distal segments before surgical simulation. The device is made to fit the lower border of the anterior mandible and the posterior border of the mandibular ramus. The device has a U-shaped handle so that adaptation of the device will not interfere with the soft tissue to be removed and has holes to be fixed on the mandible with screws. Results: We successfully performed the planned accurate segmental mandibulectomy and the precise repositioning of the condylar head by the device. Conclusions: The present technique and device that we developed proved to be simple and useful for restoring the preoperative condylar head positioning in the temporomandibular fossa and the precise resection of the mandible.

  • The evaluation regarding a transportation policy by an evaluation volition viewpoint there is a difference. Consequently the insurgent analysis which is simple compared to against the evaluation object it was accurate, the analysis which leads the order anger probably is necessary. The research which it sees for the evaluation regarding the transportation policy of the metropolis divided in road being understood, public transportation, parking and pedestrian environment, wide area transportation and transportation information and transportation field whole. And against these field it tried the ALSCAL method and MDPREF method which is a Multidimensional Scale method and it analyzed. The regression analysis result for a dimensional analysis ALSCAL method the case of the transportation policy star improvement degree which it follows in introduction presence of intelligence transportation system and MDPREF method it confronted to the transportation policy star improvement degree which it follows in expansion to construction of specific function appeared with the fact that it is the tendency probably. And the evaluation object and evaluation in the object which will cut the positioning one result was each divided in 4 group. And two methods all it was visible a similar tendency. The ALSCAL method currently transportation system construction degree condition in base and, the MDPREF method currently improvement degree of the transportation policy which it follows in traffic system construction appeared with the fact that it is desirable to establish a hereafter traffic policy in base.

Evaluation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging using Image Co-registration in Stereotactic Radiosurgery (정위방사선수술시 영상공동등록을 이용한 자기공명영상 유용성 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm the safety of the clinical application of image co - registration in steteotactic radiosurgery by evaluating the 3D positioning of magnetic resonance imaging using image co-registration. We performed a retrospective study using three-dimensional coordinate measurement of 32 patients who underwent stereotactic radiosurgery and performed magnetic resonance imaging follow-up using image co-registration. The 3 dimensional coordinate errors were $1.0443{\pm}0.5724mm$ (0.10 ~ 1.89) in anterior commissure and $1.0348{\pm}0.5473mm$ (0.36 ~ 2.24) in posterior commissure. The mean error of MR1 (3.0 T) was lower than that of MR2 (1.5 T). It is necessary to minimize the error of magnetic resonance imaging in the treatment planning using the image co - registration technique and to confirm it.

Analysis of the GPS Error Effect through Simulation (시뮬레이션을 통한 GPS 오차의 영향 분석)

  • The position accuracy is primarily dependent on the satellite position and signal delay caused by several elements. To know the effect of the delay on the estimated positions, we simulated GPS raw data (RINEX) with GPS errors using Bernese ver5.0. GPS errors used in this paper are Ionospheric delay, Cycle slip, Troposphere, DOP and Random error. If the baseline is short, the position error according to TEC is not large, since the ionospheric delay effect can be removed by ion-free combination. However, if the baseline is long, 3 dimensional position error up to 10cm is occurred. The 3D position error of coordinates with cycle slip is hardly ever changed up to 60% of cycle slip. Because the simulated cycle slips are equally distributed on satellites, the positioning was not seriously affected by the cycle slip. Also, if percentage of cycle slip is 60%, three dimensional error is sharply increased over 1m. The position error is calculated by using the observation data (2 hours) which was selected by DOP less than 3. And its accuracy is more improved about $3{\sim}4cm$.
