Most of agricultural structures are consisted of complex components and exposed to various boundary conditions. There have been no ways to express those structures exactly for model experiment. As an alternative, 3D printer can produce any type of solid model. However, there are limited informations related to structural experiments using 3D printer. The object of this study gives the basic informations to structural engineers who try to use 3D printer for model experiment. When PLA was used as a supplier for 3D printer, the outcomes showed less heat deformation to compare with ABS. To test the material properties, two kinds of experiments (three-point flexibility test and compression test) were executed using universal testing machine. In three-point flexibility test, plastic hinge and its deformation were developed as observed in material such as steel. The behavior was in a linear elastic state, and elastic bending modulus and yield force were evaluated. In the compression test using unbraced columns with hinge-hinge boundary condition, the constant yield forces were observed regardless of different lengths in all columns with same section size, whereas the compressive elastic modulus was increased as the length of column was increased. The suggested results can be used for model experiments of various agricultural structures consisted of single material.
Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), a self-polymerizing resin for removable orthodontic devices, has been used as a dental orthodontic device for many years because of its advantages such as color stability, volume stability, and tissue compatibility. However, such a removable orthodontic device has a disadvantage that the longer the use in the oral cavity due to the low strength of the PMMA fracture of the orthodontic device resin in use. In this study, zinc nanoparticles (ZNP) were mixed with orthodontic PMMA to introduce strength effect. Rectangular samples ($1.4{\times}3.0{\times}19.0mm$) of orthodontic PMMA (0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0%) containing ZNP were prepared. The finished specimen was tested for three-point bending strength at a speed of 1 mm / min, and the Vickers hardness was measured three times using a hardness tester. The surface roughness was measured with a surface roughness. As a result, the 3-point bending strength did not change significantly (p>0.05). Surface energy increased significantly. As a result, we successfully synthesized ZNP in this study and prepared the dispersed resin specimen for calibration. It will be possible to develop high-density dental orthodontic resins.
This study investigated the effect of filler particle size and weight% on mechanical properties of dental core porcelain. In alumina, variation in particle size and weight% and in zirconia, variation in weight%, all specimens were tested three-point bending strength, transmittance, thermal expansion coefficient, porosity and shrinkage and observed with SEM and analysed with X-ray diffractometer. In order to develop shrink-free porcelain, after firing alumina only, glass wasinfiltrated. And aluminum was added to alumina with the expanding character of aluminum oxidize into alumina, and was followed by second firing of glass infiltration procedure. Then mechanical properties were observed. The results of this study were obtained as follows. 1. The bending strength of zirconia was higher than that of alumina, and $5{\mu}m$ alumina had highest strength in variation of particle size of alumina. Except for $5{\mu}m$ alumina, increased with weight%, bending strength increased up to 80% and decreased at 90%. In case of glass infiltration, bending strength was slight higher than 80% and 90% of $5{\mu}m$ alumina. 2. Transmittance increased with increase of shrinkage, decrease of porosity, and with increase of filler size and had no direct correlation with weight%. 3. Thermal expansion coefficient of alumina group was $7.42\sim8.64\times10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$ and that of zirconia group was $9.83\sim12.11\times10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$ and the latter was higher than the former. 4. In x-ray diffraction analysis, alumina group and zirconia group increased $Al_2O_3$ peak and $t-ZrO_2$ peak with increase of weight%. The second phase(cristobalite peak) was observed in zirconia 40% group. 5. Porosity of zirconia was lower than that of alumina and $5{\mu}m$ alumina group had many pores with SEM. In case of low filler content, fracture occurred in glass and high filler content, in glass and filler. In case of aluminum addition to alumina, small oxidised aluminum was observed. 6. Zirconia group had high shrinkage than alumina group, and mixed group of alumina group had high shrinkage. In case of glass infiltration, shrinkage decreased and aluminum addition to alumina group was almost shrink-free.
Fracture energy is one of the key parameters reveal cracking resistance and fracture toughness of concrete. The main purpose of this study is to determine fracture behavior, mechanical properties and microstructural analysis of high strength basalt fiber reinforced concrete (HSFRC). For this purpose, three-point bending tests were performed on notched beams produced using HSFRCs with 12 mm and 24mm fiber length and 1, 2 and $3kg/m^3$ fiber content in order to determine the value of fracture energy. Fracture energies of the notched beam specimens were calculated by analyzing load versus crack mouth opining displacement curves by the help of RILEM proposal. The results show that the effects of basalt fiber content and fiber length on fracture energy are very significant. The splitting tensile and flexural strength of HSFRC increased with increasing fiber content whereas a slight drop in flexural strength was observed for the mixture with 24mm fiber length and $3kg/m^3$ fiber content. On the other hand, there was no significant effect of fiber addition on the compressive strength and modulus of elasticity of the mixtures. In addition, microstructural analysis of the three components; cement paste, aggregate and basalt fiber were performed based on the Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy examinations.

The densification of $Al_2$O$_3$/15v/o ZrO$_2$ (Zirconia Toughened Alumina: ZTA) to the 99% of theoretical density was attempted by controlling the processing parameters affecting the each processing step i.e., milling, spray-drying, forming and pressureless sintering. The ZTA processed under the identical conditions showed a large variation in the green and sintered densities, and the mechanical properties. The deviation of 4-point bending strength was more than 100MPa for the ZTA with ~99% of theoretical density. Moreover, the relative green and sintered densities were deviated greatly from the average value. This low reproducibility could be caused by the variation of spray-dried granule properties. Thus, the effect of yield strength and morphology of spray-dried ZTA granule on the green and sintered densities and the mechanical properties needs to be studied in detail. The objective of this work is to fine out the optimum condition of compaction pressure and compaction method depending on the properties of spray-dried granules.
A sintering aid, $B_{2}O_{3}$ have been included into a $LiAlO_{2}$ electrolyte support by a tape casting method in order to reinforce mechanical strength of the support for molten carbonate fuel cells [MCFCs). Starting idea originates from the low melting point of $B_{2}O_{3}$ ($450^{\circ}C$), which can provide the low temperature consolidation of ceramic materials. The mechanical properties and the microstructure changes of the $B_{2}O_{3}$-included electrolyte support were examined by scanning electron microscope, mercury porosimetry, X-ray powder diffraction [XRD], high temperature differential scanning calorimeter and three-point bending strength measurement. The mechanical strength was clearly improved by addition of $B_{2}O_{3}$. The increase of mechanical strength results from the neck growth of a new $LiAlO_{2}$ phase between $LiAlO_{2}$ particles by the liquid phase sintering. Average pore size and porosity of the electrolyte support reinforced by addition of the sintering aid, $B_{2}O_{3}$, was $0.24{\mu}m$ and 59%, respectively which were suitable microstructure of a matrix for an application of MCFCs.
The industrial manufacturing of YSZ products can be summarized as a three step process: a) hydrolysis of zirconyl chloride and mixing of other solutions, b) precipitation, and c) calcination. The addition of ammonia or OH- is essential in the precipitation process. However, a strong agglomeration was observed in the results of an ammonia or OH- addition. Thus, it is necessary to disperse the powders smoothly in order to improve the mechanical strength of YSZ. In this study, YSZ was synthesized using the urea stabilizer and hydrothermal method. YSZ powders were synthesized using a hydrothermal method with Teflon Vessels at $180^{\circ}C$ for 24 h. The mole ratio of urea to Zr was 0, 0.5, 1, and 2. The crystal phase, particle size, and morphologies were analyzed. Rectangular specimens ($33\;mm{\times}8\;mm{\times}1{\pm}0.5\;mm$) for three-point bend tests were used in the mechanical properties evaluation. The crystalline of YSZ powders observed a tetragonal phase in the sample with a ratio of Zr:urea = 1:2 addition and a hydrothermal reaction time of 24 h. The average primary particle size of YSZ was measured to be 9 nm to 11 nm. The agglomerated particle size was measured from 15 nm to 30 nm. The three-point bending strength of the YSZ samples was 142.47 MPa, which is the highest value obtained for the Zr:urea = 1:2 ratio addition YSZ sample.
In order to establish fundamental data for the betterment of Polyester microfiber fabric handle, a study by using fixed warp of ITY yarn samples with P/F, DTY, and ITY weft yarns was performed. For this purpose the samples of total 27 kinds were prepared. That is, each sample yarn was twisted in three ways and for each twisted yarn the fabric structures were modified in three ways, plain, twill, and satin. The examination was done by focusing on the point of the change of handles and the characteristics of the mechanical properties of the samples with the change of yarn and the fabric structure. The handles and the mechanical properties were examined with the KES-F system suggested by Kawabata. The results were as follows : 1. WT and MIU increased with increasing the twist. By comparing WT and MIU by yarn, DTY was higher than P/F. It appeared that twill and satin were higher than plain. 2. The bending rigidity change in DTY with increasing the twist was not significant, however in P/F it appeared apparently decreased with increasing the tlvist. Also, it appeared that when using P/F as weft the bending rigidity was higher than when using DTY and the twill structure appeared higher than the satin structure. 3. In shear force the increasing rates of plain and the twill were higher than satin. When DTY and P/F were used as weft, the shear force was higher in ITY and DTY than in P/F case. 4. Koshi appeared higher in the order of plain, twill and satin. When DTY and P/F were used as the weft Koshi increased with increasing the twist in plain, however in twill and satin it appeared to decrease. In hand value ITY(=7.5) appea.ed to be highe. than DTY and P/F(=6.5). 5. In all cases Shinayakasa decreased with increasing the twist. The hand values observed that satin was =4, twill was =3, and plain was =1.5. 6. Fukurami showed no significant change with increasing the twist in DTY, however in P/F and ITY it decreased.

This study considers how the fatigue behavior and probabilistic properties of SAE1055 steel are related to its hardness level. SAE1055 steel was heat-treated using induction hardening. Five types of specimens were prepared (A: base material, B: through hardened material with HV390, C: through hardened material with HV510, D: through hardened material with HV700, and E: surface hardened material with HV700). Fatigue tests were performed under a stress ratio of R = -1 using a 4-point rotary bending fatigue tester. The fatigue behaviors were greatly influenced by the hardness, but the fatigue limit did not increase over a hardness of HV510. In addition, the effect of the hardness level on the failure mechanism was evaluated using a scanning electron microscope. The probabilistic properties of the fatigue life were investigated using a probabilistic S-N approach, and the effect of the hardness level on these properties was evaluated using a residue analysis.
To produce a strengthened glass, single ion exchange properties such as three-point bend strength and residual stress were investigated in soda-lime-silicate substrate glass for display use. The present work showed that the maximum value of strength was 62.5${\times}$10$\sub$6/ kg/㎡ after, the two-step single ion exchange process at 470$^{\circ}C$ for 1 h and 450$^{\circ}C$ for 24 h. As the result of the fracture analysis after bending test, the residual stress on the fractured surface of the strengthened glass increased the flexibility by means of absorbing the elastic deformation energy in the glass. Also, the effects of absorbing the elastic deformation energy were analysed by curvature change, number of multiple crack branches and brittleness.
