Recently, the fashion industry has been integrating with The IT industry in order to develop in various ways. This study looks into ways to utilize the 3D CAD system, which would reduce time and cost while producing samples, and strengthen the communication between the brand and its cooperators by deploying knit designs using Knit CAD system's 3D virtual clothing program. The research method was reference, Internet resources 3D fashion CAD system and 3D Knit CAD system. Based on the data, simulation of the complete design of 4 deployed knit designs was done by using 3D virtual clothing program of the Knit CAD system utilizing knit design elements. One of each design element among the virtual clothing designs was chosen to produce real clothing, and the experts did verification on the appearance assessment of 3D virtual clothing knit designs of the Knit CAD system. As a result, 3D virtual clothing knit design of the Knit CAD system proved itself as an efficient system in terms of time and cost.

When a plant owner requests plant 3D CAD models in the format that a shipbuilding company does not use, the shipyard manually re-models plant 3D CAD models according to the owner's requirement. Therefore, it is important to develop a technology to compare the re-modeled plant 3D CAD models with original ones and to quantitatively evaluate similarity between two models. In the previous study, we developed a graphic user interface (GUI)-based comparison system where a user evaluates similarity between original and re-modeled plant 3D CAD models for piping design at the level of unit. However, an offshore plant consists of thousands of units and thus a system which compares several plant 3D CAD models at unit-level without human intervention is necessary. For this, we developed a new batch model comparison system which automatically evaluates similarity of several unit-level plant 3D CAD models using an extensible markup language (XML) file storing file location and name data about a set of plant 3D CAD models. This paper suggests system configuration of a batch-mode-based comparison system and discusses its core functions. For the verification of the developed system, comparison experiments for offshore plant 3D piping CAD models using the system were performed. From the experiments, we confirmed that similarities for several plant 3D CAD models at unit-level were evaluated without human intervention.

It is necessary to construct an equipment catalog in plant design. A different level of detail may be needed for the three-dimensional (3D) computer aided design (CAD) data for equipment, depending on the purpose. Equipment suppliers provide CAD data with high complexity, whereas plant designers need CAD data with low complexity. Therefore, it is necessary to simplify the 3D CAD assembly data. To resolve this issue, a system for automatically simplifying the 3D CAD assembly data of equipment was developed. This paper presents the architecture of the system, the detailed functions of the system, and a neutral data format used for uploading simplified 3D CAD assembly data to a plant 3D CAD system. In addition, experiment results using the prototype system are explained.

As promotion of the 3D printer supply policy, need for 3D printer education is emphasized. But it is few that study of 3D printing educational program teachers can utilize at school. Especially study of CAD SW is very urgent because most of the CAD SW for 3D modeling is difficult and expensive. So in this study, we examine the CAD SW for educational purposes and propose educational programs that can be used at primary school. The instructional model is called "MDIAP" which consists of five stages : Motivation, Demonstration, Imitation, Application, Presentation. Instructional process is consisted of performing tasks and projects. We expect to enhance the function of 3D modeling and creative thinking which is essential to the Fourth Industrial Revolution society.
CAD system is a very important technology in designing many products which we are using today. This CAD technology have enlarging its area into 3D CAD systems with the development of computer graphics technologies. In particular, such advances have also been realized in special area such as the CAD system for designing shoes. 3D CAD systems for shoes design must provide compatibility between 3D and 2D data because shoes are made using 2D parts of pieces of leather or cloth. Many designers get high performances using 2D shoe CAD systems because they have had long practices with the 2D systems. Therefore, to get the mapping between 2D modeling and 3D modeling is one of very important components in 3D CAD system. In this paper, we proposed a flattening method that convert 3D shoes data to 2D data.

This paper represents the application of the 3D CAD Model data for 4D simulation and quantity estimation. These support the effective and practical use of 4D CAD model. By using and manipulating the 3D CAD model information, scheduling and quantity estimation could be developed more quickly and effectively. So the 3D CAD model information is made use of not only drawing a blueprint but also playing an important part of data integration platform. The scheduling module sets up the schedule generation logic that consists of period, priority of element arrangement, and time lag of floor placement. It sorts the working items as a priority of working process. And the quantity estimation module queries the material quantity of the structural elements according to the scheduling conditions. These two modules are developed using the 3D CAD model information and assist the function of 4D CAD model.

A 3D CAD system that can be used on a smart device is proposed. Smart devices are now a part of everyday life and also are widely being used in various industry domains. The proposed 3D CAD system would allow modeling in a rapid and intuitive manner on a smart device when an engineer makes a 3D model of a product while moving in an engineering site. There are several obstacles to develop a 3D CAD system on a smart device such as low computing power and the small screen of smart devices, imprecise touch inputs, and transfer problems of created 3D models between PCs and smart devices. The author discusses the system design of a 3D CAD system on a smart device. The selection of the modeling operations, the assignment of touch gestures to these operations, and the construction of a geometric kernel for creating both meshes and a procedural CAD model are introduced. The proposed CAD system has been implemented for validation by user tests and to demonstrate case studies using test examples. Using the proposed system, it is possible to produce a 3D editable model swiftly and simply in a smart device environment to reduce design time of engineers.

Recently, 3D printing has received increasing attention due to its boundless potentials. Because 3D printing starts from 3D geometry information, computer-aided design (CAD) is an essential technology to build 3D geometry data. These days, education of 3D CAD for engineering students has been changed from the theoretical lecture to practical design training using commercial CAD software. As a result, open-ended design projects have replaced the traditional theoretical examinations to evaluate students' outcomes. However, such design projects are not enough to evaluate students' outcomes because their results are expressed in two-dimensional ways. In this paper, applications of 3D printing in engineering design education are discussed by describing the procedure and outcomes of design projects. It was found that the use of 3D printing could improve students' outcomes by fabricating real physical models out of their designs.

As the increasing needs in the industrial filed, many studies for the 3D CAD system are carried out. There are two types of 3D CAD system. One is manifold modeler, the other is non-manifold modeler. In the manifold modeler only 3D objects can be modeled. In the non-manifold modeler 3D, 2D, 1D, and 0D objects can be modeled in a unified data structure. Recently there are many studies on the non-manifold modeler. Most of them are focused on finding unknown topological entities and representing all kinds of topological entities found. In this paper, efficient data structure is selected. The boundary information on a face and an edge is included in this data structure. The boundary information on a vertex is excluded considering the frequency of usage. Because the disk cycle information is not required in most case of modeling. It is compact. It stores essential non-manifold information such as loop cycle and radial cycle. A suitable Euler-Poincare equation is studied and selected. Using the efficient data structure and the selected Euler-Poincare equation, 18 basic Euler operators are implemented. Several 3D models are created using the implemented modeler. A non-manifold modeling can be carried out using the implemented 3D CAD system. The results of this paper could be used in the further studies such as an implementation of Boolean operators, and a translation of 2D CAD drawings to 3D models.
