Reliability Analysis of a Quay Wall Constructed on the Deep-Cement-Mixed Ground(Part I: External Stability of the Improved Soil System) (심층혼합처리지반에 설치된 안벽의 신뢰성해석(Part I: 개량지반의 외부안정))

  • This is the first of the two papers dealing with reliability analyses for external and internal stability of a quay wall constructed on a special foundation. A new practical reliability analysis method is proposed in this paper to evaluate the quantitative risk associated with external stability of a quay wall constructed on the deep cement mixed ground. The method can consider uncertainties in various design variables. For the risk estimation to external stability of the improved soil-quay wall, three corresponding limit state functions of sliding, overturning and bearing capacity are fully defined by introducing concept of the secondary random variable. Three representative reliability methods, MVFOSM, FORM and MCS are then applied to evaluate the failure probabilities of the three limit state functions explicitly expressed in terms of the basic and secondary random variables. From the reliability analysis results, the failure probabilities obtained from the three approaches are very close to each other, and the sliding failure mode appears to be the most critical when the earthquake loading is under consideration.

  • The performance analysis of a fuel pump for a liquid rocket engine has been performed numerically on its design condition. A commercial three-dimensional Navier-Stokes flow solver has been used for the computation. All of the fuel pump components - inducer, impeller, volute and secondary flow passages - are included in computation for the accurate estimation of the leakage flow rate which affects the performance and axial thrust. A pitchwise-averaged mixing plane method was used on the boundaries among the fuel pump components to save computational time. The predicted overall performance satisfied the design requirement. However, the axial thrust exceeded a permissible limit. In order to reduce the axial thrust, the secondary flow passage design has been changed. With this change, the axial thrust level has been reduced to 30% as compared with the original value.

Reliability Analysis of Seismically Induced Slope Deformations (신뢰성 기법을 이용한 지진으로 인한 사면 변위해석)

  • The paper presents a reliability-based method that can capture the impact of uncertainty of seismic loadings. The proposed method incorporates probabilistic concepts into the classical limit equilibrium and the Newmark-type deformation techniques. The risk of damage is then computed by Monte Carlo simulation. Random process and RMS hazard method are introduced to produce seismic motions and also to use them in the seismic slope analyses. The geotechnical variability and sampling errors are also considered. The results of reliability analyses indicate that in a highly seismically active region, characterization of earthquake hazard is the more critical factor, and characterization of soil properties has a relatively small effect on the computed risk of slope failure and excessive slope deformations. The results can be applicable to both circular and non-circular slip surface failure modes.

  • In this study, a complex eigenvalue analysis is implemented to verify the unstable mode of a brake system using ABAQUS software. The component participation factors and component modal participation factors are used to analyze the total contributions from each component and each component mode to a particular unstable system mode. This study shows that the 1.4-kHz unstable system mode comes from mode coupling between the 2nd nodal diametric mode and 3rd lateral axial mode (LAM) in the baseline model. A sensitivity analysis with a linking index is performed to prevent the mode coupling of the component modes. This linking index analysis shows the optimum mass loading position to move away the natural frequency of the 3rd LAM, which contributes to the unstable mode. Finally, a complex eigenvalue analysis is implemented with mass loading in the tie bar position, and no unstable system mode is generated in the low-frequency range (below 2 kHz).

  • Mist-CVD is known to have advantages of low cost and high productivity compared to ALD and PECVD methods. It is capable of reacting to the substrate by misting an aqueous solution using ultrasonic waves under vacuum-free conditions of atmospheric pressure. In particular, Ga2O3 is regarded as advanced power semiconductor material because of its high quality of transmittance, and excellent electrical conductivity through N-type doping. In this study, Computational Fluid Dynamics were used to predict the uniformity of the thin film on a large-area substrate. And also the deposition pattern and uniformity were analyzed using the flow velocity and particle tracking method. The uniformity was confirmed by quantifying the deposition cross section with an FIB-SEM, and the consistency of the uniformity prediction was secured through the analysis of the CFD distribution. With the analysis and experimental results, the match rate of deposition area was 80.14% and the match rate of deposition thickness was 55.32%. As the experimental and analysis results were consistent, it was confirmed that it is possible to predict the deposition thickness uniformity of Mist-CVD.

Anisotropic Analysis of Tunnel in Transversely Isotropic Rock (횡등방성 암반 내 터널의 이방성 해석)

  • In this study, stress difference between isotropic and transversely isotropic rock mass, and planar principal stresses at the periphery of the tunnel in the rock with various ratio of anisotropy were determined theoretically. Stress differences between isotropic and anisotropic calculations at crown. side walls and floor of a tunnel with assumed stress states were analyzed and compare each other by $FLAC^{2D}$, a finite differential element method. As a result, magnitude and direction of principal stresses in the case of ignoring anisotropy were different from those of anisotropic cases, whatever the stress state was. Stress difference increased as the ratio of anisotropy increased. Direction or anisotropy affected stress difference, especially in the cases of anisotropic directions of $45^{\circ}\;and\;135^{\circ}$ of counterclockwise from x direction.

  • We derived analytic formulae for the correction of spherical aberration, coma, and axial color of a two-components lens system consisted of a cemented doublet and a singlet by using the thin lens approximation. The correction formulae were applied to design a telephoto lens system. We examined two kinds of glass combinations in the design, one was crown-flint-crown combination and the other was flint-crown-flint combination. We found two kinds of achromatic aplanat solutions in the crown-flint-crown combination. For the case of flint-crown-flint combination, there were also two kinds of solutions, but their configurations are not useful in practice.

  • In this study, seismic capacity of R/C school buildings are investigated on the basis of the 2nd and 3rd level procedures of the Japanese Standard for Evaluation of Seismic Capacity of Existing R/C Buildings, push-over analysis and nonlinear dynamic analysis, respectively. In order to verify the applicability of the new method proposed in this study, relationships between evaluation results of the proposed methods shown in Part-2 and detailed evaluation methods mentioned above are compared.

  • 계통 연계 인버터 제어 시 계통 전압과 동상인 계통 전류를 공급해주기 위해, 계통 전압의 위상 값을 알아내야 한다. 계통 전압에 고조파가 존재하지 않을 시에 이 위상값은 정확하지만, 고조파 존재 시에 위상 값은 오차가 생긴다. 이 오차는 동기 좌표계 PI 제어기의 지령치에 기본파 외의 고조파를 함유하게 만든다. 그 결과, 계통에 공급하는 계통 전류에 고조파를 함유하게 만든다. 본 논문은 3차 필터를 이용하여 고조파가 존재하는 3상 계통 전압에도 불구하고 기본파의 위상 값만을 추출해내는 PLL을 설계한다. 주파수 응답 이론에 근거하여 해석적으로 필터 변수를 정하며, 이를 검증하기 위하여 모의 실험을 수행한다.

무부하운전시의 철극동기기의 3상단락

  • 본 논문에서 취급한 제동권선이 없는 철극선의 3상단락현상을 해명하는데 있어 우선 임의력율의 전류를 횡축분과 직축분으로 분리해서 취급하는 소위 Blonde의 2반작용법(two reaction method)를 썼고, 각종 Reactance를 표시하는데는 편리한 단위법(perunit notation)을 사용했으며, 전기자의 1상저항은 각종 Reactance ( $X_{x}$, $X_{q}$ )의 어느것 보담도 극소치임으로 실제계산에는 무시했으나 과도전류의 변화를 좌우하는 감쇠정수[decrement factor)에는 큰 영향을 준다는 것이 규명되었다. 해석결과로서 3상단락전류의 초기치는 특수치보다 훨씬 큰 이유로서 단락전류가 계자자속을 약하게 만들어 그 반동으로 계자회로에 일정자속을 유지하기 위하여 부문적으로 개자전류가 증대함을 알게되었고, 단락전류의 직축분과 횡축분의 구성분이 규명검토되었고, 발전기의 돌발단락저류는 일반적으로 직류분, 기본파교류분 및 제2조파등을 포함하나 그 전부가 시정수의 역수인 감쇠정수에 지배되어서 지수함수곡선에 따라 감쇠되어 결국에는 지속단락전류에 귀착한다는 사실과 3상단락은 평형단락사고임으로 영상전류는 영이며 각상과도전류의 위상차가 120.deg.라는 것엔 변함이 없다는 것과 끝으로 철극기를 정격속도로 운전해 놓고 이것을 여자해서 무부하전압을 수기시켜 그의 3상전단자를 돌연 단락해서 그의 과도전류의 파형을 Oscillograph로 촬영하면 본론에서 해석한 결과식의 그것과 일치하게 됨을 알 수 있을 것이다.것이다.
