  • Image-based rendering is an approach to generate realistic images in real-time without modeling explicit 3D geometry. Especially, owing to its simplicity, TIP(Tour Into the Picture) is preferred to constructing a 3D background scene. Because existing TIP methods have a limitation in that they lack geometrical information, we can not expect a accurate scene if the viewpoint is far from the origin of the TIP. In this paper, we propose the method of constructing a virtual environment of a wide area by blending multiple TIP images. Firstly, we construct multiple TIP models of the virtual environment. Then we interpolate foreground and background objects respectively, to generate a smooth navigation image. The method proposed here can be applied to various industry applications, such as computer game, 3D car navigation, and so on.

  • Many internet portals provide maps with spatial information services. Recently, various images including aerial, satellite, street view, and photo-realistic 3D city models are provided as well as maps. This study suggested a method for geometric correction of the panoramic aerial images in the internet portal and 3D building modeling using information which is available in the internet. The key of this study is to obtain all necessary data easily from internet without restrictions. Practically, the ground control coordinates could be available from geo-referenced internet maps, and stereo pairs of the aerial images and close-range photographs for photo-realistic object modeling are provided by the internet service. However, the ground control points are not suitable for accurate mapping. RMSE of the plotting was about 9 meters and reduced upto 4 meters after coordinate transformation. The proposed methods would be applicable to various applications of photo-realistic object modeling which do not require high accuracy.

  • There exist a variety of VR(Virtual Reality) contents that have been developed by the use of the latest VR technologies. Unlike the rapid advances in the recent VR devices however, the development of VR based game contents that fully utilize such cutting-edge devices has been lackluster. Using more accessible form of smartphone-based HMDs(Head-Mounted Displays), we compare two popular VR presentation methods(a realistic 3D VR karaoke room and a 360 degree video karaoke room) and analyze their users' immersion and realistic perception. We expect that our study can be utilized as a supporting guideline for future smartphone-based VR content developments.

  • In this paper, 3D objects is created from the real scene that is used by an active sensor, which gets depth and RGB information. To get the depth information, this paper uses the $Zcam^{TM}$ camera which has built-in an active sensor module. <중략> Thirdly, calibrate the detailed parameters and create 3D mesh model from the depth information, then connect the neighborhood points for the perfect 3D mesh model. Finally, the value of color image data is applied to the mesh model, then carries out mapping processing to create 3D object. Experimentally, it has shown that creating 3D objects using the data from the camera with active sensors is possible. Also, this method is easier and more useful than the using 3D range scanner.

  • 3D city model, which consisted of the 3D building models and their geospatial position and orientation, is becoming a valuable resource in virtual reality, navigation systems, civil engineering, etc. The purpose of this research is to propose the new framework to generate the 3D city model that satisfies visual and physical requirements in ground oriented simulation system. At the same time, the framework should meet the demand of the automatic creation and cost-effectiveness, which facilitates the usability of the proposed approach. To do that, I suggest the framework that leverages the mobile mapping system which automatically gathers high resolution images and supplement sensor information like position and direction of the image. And to resolve the problem from the sensor noise and a large number of the occlusions, the fusion of digital map data will be used. This paper describes the overall framework with major process and the recommended or demanded techniques for each processing step.

  • Augmented Reality is a growing area in virtual reality research, The world environment around us provides a wealth of information that is difficult to duplicate in a computer. This evidenced by the worlds used in virtual environments. An augmented reality system generates a composite view for the user. It is a combination of the real scene viewed by the user and a virtual scene generated by the computer that augments the scene with addition information. The registration method represent to the user enhances that person's performance in and perception of the world. It decide the direction and location between real world and 3D graphic objects. The registration method devide two method, Model based tracking and Move-Matching. This paper researched at to generate a commerce correlation using a tracking object method, using at a color distribution and information, in the sequence scene.

  • A computational color palette extraction model is introduced to describe paint brush objectively and efficiently. In this model, a color palette is defined as a minimum set of colors in which a painting can be displayed within error allowance and extracted by the two step processing of color grouping and major color extraction. The color grouping controls the resolution of colors adaptively and produces a basic color set of given painting images. The final palette is obtained from the basic color set by applying weighted k-means clustering algorithm. The extracted palettes from several famous painters are displayed in a 3-D color space to show the distinctive palette styles using RGB and CIE LAB color models individually. And the two experiments of painter classification and color transform of photographic image has been done to check the performance of the proposed method. The results shows the possibility that the proposed palette model can be a computational color analysis metric to describe the paint brush, and can be a color transform tool for computer graphics.
