  • GaN 전력반도체는 와이드 밴드갭(Eg=3.4eV)과 높은 이동도 및 낮은 온-저항 특성으로 인하여 차세대 고속/저손실 고효율 전력반도체 소자로서 각광을 받고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 글로벌 GaN 전력반도체 기술개발과 상용화는 초기단계로 선진업체 캐치업과 추월이 가능한 분야이다. GaN 반도체의 재료적 장점과 현재 상용화된 200V 이하급과 650V급 GaN 전력반도체 소자의 글로벌 시장동향으로 볼 때 고속 스위칭과 전력모듈 소형화 및 시스템의 고효율화를 요구하는 제품응용에 특화해야할 것으로 판단된다. 특히 기존 Si 전력반도체 대비 고성능 GaN 제품의 저가격화뿐만 아니라 선진기업과의 경쟁력 확보를 위하여 6인치 기반 Au-free CMOS 호환 공정 개발을 통한 GaN 전력반도체 기술의 국산화와 신시장 선점을 위한 조기 상용화의 중요성을 강조하고자 한다.

  • The 5th generation mobile communication (5G) is being commercialized by major domestic and foreign mobile telecommunication businesses and is spreading to general customers mainly on smart devices such as smartphones, wearables, and IoT. If 4G networks and 5G access equipment were utilized by introducing NSA(None-Stand Alone) technology when 5G was first introduced, recently, 5G convergence services are being realized by gradually expanding evolution to 5G standalone networks through SA (Stand Alone) technology. The purpose of this study is to study a design plan for implementing necessary service-oriented functions from the perspective of communication network users on the configuration of 5G SA equipment based on SBA(Service-based Architecture) mentioned in the 3GPP technical specification document. Through this research, it is expected that companies that need to enter the 5G market can easily access the 5G SA network to develop and supplement specialized 5G convergence services to improve product performance and quality.

Performance Comparison and Analysis of SC-FDMA Systems employing IB-DFE (IB-DFE를 적용한 SC-FDMA 시스템의 성능 비교 분석)

  • SC-FDMA is employed in the 3GPP-LTE standard as the uplink transmission scheme. SC-FDMA has advantages that the signal has a low PAPR property and a simple equalizer such as FD-LE can be implemented. But FD-LE has inferior performance to Hybrid-DFE composed of frequency-domain feedforward filter and time-domain feedback filter. Recently, several IB-DFE algorithms have been proposed to overcome the disadvantages of implementation and processing complexity of Hybrid-DFE and to obtain superior performance to FD-LE. In this paper, we apply several IB-DFE algorithms to 3GPP-LTE uplink system and compare their performance by calculating BER. We investigate the effects of channel estimation errors and Doppler shift on performance. Finally, by analyzing computational complexity of IB-DFEs, we present some criteria to choose appropriate algorithm and to decide the number of iterative processes.

  • The third generation cellular system requires the seamless macro/micro mobility support. Mobile IP provides a simple and scalable macro mobility solution but lacks the support for fast handoff control in micro-domain. However, A lot of micro-mobility protocols have been proposed to complement the Mobile IP capability by providing the fast, seamless, and local handoff control. Cellular If also provides the seamless mobility support in limited geographical area. But semi-soft handoff mechanism of Cellular IP produces the packet loss and the duplication problem due to the difference of propagation delay between the new path and the old path. In this paper, we present an efficient handoff mechanism in micro-domain. The proposed handoff mechanism uses the SCD (Suitable Cross Delay) in order to minimize the packet loss and the duplication problem during the handoff. Also, the proposed mechanism is verified by the performance evaluation through the NS-2 Simulation.

Indoor Position Estimation Using Stereo Image Sensor and LEDs (스테레오 이미지 센서와 LED 조명을 이용한 실내 측위)

  • In recent year, along with the rapid development of LED technology, many applications using LEDs with Visible Light Communication(VLC) have been researched. Since it is easy to provide LOS communication environment along with cheap deployment cost, the indoor positioning system based on VLC has been actively studied. In this paper, we propose an accurate indoor positioning algorithm using a stereo image sensor and white-light LEDs with the visible light communication. Indoor white-light LEDs are located at the ceiling of a room and broadcast their position information by VLC technology. Mobile receiver with stereo image sensor receives LED position information by VLC and estimates its position and angle information. Simulation results are given to show the efficiency of proposed indoor positioning algorithm.

  • Telematics is a wireless data communication system that provides various information services for driver's the safety or entertainment, and it makes drivers possible to use those services in the moving space, as if he/she is at home or at office. As telecommunication technology develops and Telematics market grows larger, standard platform for the intelligent telematics is required. This paper describes the structure and module control design of the intelligent telematics that recognizes driver's needs and pushes customized services to the driver at real-time.

  • New technologies such as multi-antenna and small cell were proposed as key technology for the next generation mobile system to cope with the explosively increasing mobile data traffic. In particular, heterogeneous mobile communication network which can improve spatial reuse factor by exploiting macro and small cells simultaneously is attracting attention. However, the heterogeneous network has a problem that the utilization of small cells becomes low because the transmit power of macro base stations is much higher than that of small base stations and then the probability that mobile stations are attached to the macro base stations becomes high. This problem is dominant in uplink. The concept of cell range expansion bias to mitigate the problem was proposed by 3GPP and the corresponding standardization is in progress. In this paper, we analyze the downlink performance of the heterogeneous mobile communication network based on a system level simulator with the cell range expansion bias in terms of average cell spectral efficiency.

  • Recently, mobile communication systems have supported various services including internet from voice centric service as they evolve toward 3G. To accommodate the increasing number of users, an AAL2 multiplexing scheme is introduced in the UTRAN tub interface for link efficiency. However, limited radio resources and different requirements of various services make it difficult to guarantee the QoS requirements at radio access networks. The conventional AAL2/ATM multiplexing systems focused on the multiplexing efficiency of voice anddata services and QoS issues of real time and non real time services. In this paper, we classfy various services according to QoS requirements and propose AAL2/ATM multiplexing schemes using statistical multiplexing and scheduling with a rather simple structure to guarantee the given requirements. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes perform better than the conventional schemes to guarantee QoS requirements of various services.

A Study on Receiving Performance Improvement of LTE Using Hybrid OFDMA/SC-FDMA (Hybrid OFDMA/SC-FDMA를 이용한 LTE 수신성능 개선에 관한 연구)

  • In the paper, the researcher has proposed to install a relay between Base Station (BS) and Mobile Station (MS) to improve receiving performance of the downlink transmission method of Long Term Evolution (LTE) system whose standards now being established by 3GPP. By setting the distance between the location of BS and the relay installed as by 500m, 1000m, and selecting OFDMA and SC-FDMA as transmission method, the researcher conducted a study to improve the receiving performance of LTE. The results from study revealed that when the location of Relay Station (RS) was closer to BS, it was better to use OFDMA at BS, and SC-FDMA at RS. On the contrary, when the distance between BS and RS was farther, it was better to use SC-FDMA at BS, and OFDMA at RS. In addition, around the center zone between the location of BS and of MS, the researcher was able to improve the receiving performance of the system by utilizing the transmission method suitable for the situation in that area.

  • 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project) 주도의 유럽형 3세대 이동통신인 UMTS 시스템에서 제공하는 멀티미디어 방송 서비스(Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service)는 무선 네트워크상에서 동일한 정보를 하나의 링크를 통해 다수의 사용자에게 제공하는 point-to-multipoint 서비스이다. 콘텐츠가 무료로 제공되면 임의의 사용자들이 콘텐츠가 제공되는 채널에 액세스할 수 있다. 그러나 채널 액세스가 가입(subscription)기반이면, 가입하지 않은 사용자들은 콘텐츠를 이용할 수 없어야 한다. 이를 위해 사용자를 인증하고 안전한 방법으로 콘텐츠를 전송할 수 있는 보안 서비스가 필요하다. 본 논문은 MBMS의 전반적인 개요를 설명하여 앞으로 논의될 내용인 MBMS 보안구조에 대한 배경지식을 제공한다. 또한 브로드캐스트와 멀티캐스트 모드 각각에 대한 MBMS 구조를 설명하고, 멀티캐스트 모드에서의 보안 기능과 키관리 기법, 콘텐츠 보호 기술에 대해 상세히 분석한다.
