A new visual tracking scheme is proposed for a mobile robot that tracks a moving object in 3D space in real time. Visual tracking is to control a mobile robot to keep a moving target at the center of input image at all time. We made it possible by simplifying the relationship between the 2D image frame captured by a single camera and the 3D workspace frame. To precisely calculate the input vector (orientation and distance) of the mobile robot, the speed vector of the target is determined by eliminating the speed component caused by the camera motion from the speed vector appeared in the input image. The problem of temporary disappearance of the target form the input image is solved by selecting the searching area based on the linear prediction of target motion. The experimental results have shown that the proposed scheme can make a mobile robot successfully follow a moving target in real time.

In this paper, an estimation of person height and 3D location of a moving person by using the pan/tilt-embedded stereo tracking system is suggested and implemented. In the proposed system, face coordinates of a target person is detected from the sequential input stereo image pairs by using the YCbCr color model and phase-type correlation methods and then, using this data as well as the geometric information of the stereo tracking system, distance to the target from the stereo camera and 3-dimensional location information of a target person are extracted. Basing on these extracted data the pan/tilt system embedded in the stereo camera is controlled to adaptively track a moving person and as a result, moving trajectory of a target person can be obtained. From some experiments using 780 frames of the sequential stereo image pairs, it is analyzed that standard deviation of the position displacement of the target in the horizontal and vertical directions after tracking is kept to be very low value of 1.5, 0.42 for 780 frames on average, and error ratio between the measured and computed 3D coordinate values of the target is also kept to be very low value of 0.5% on average. These good experimental results suggest a possibility of implementation of a new stereo target tracking system having a high degree of accuracy and a very fast response time with this proposed algorithm.

In this paper, we proposed realtime visual tracking system of moving object for 2D target using extended Kalman Filter Algorithm. A targeting marker are recongnized in each image frame and positions of targer object in each frame from a CCD camera while te targeting marker is attached to the tip of the SCARA robot hand. After the detection of a target coming into any position of the field-of-view, the target is tracked and always made to be located at the center of target window. Then, we can track the moving object which moved in inter-frames. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the Kalman filter algorithm for realtime tracking and estimated state value of filter, predicting the position of moving object to minimize an image processing area, and by reducing the effect by quantization noise of image
A two-dimensional moving target is necessarily captured by a 5 dot robot system using a robot vision technique. Here, a robot vision system with a visual skill so that it can take information for a moving target or object, specially two dimensionally moving, is introduced and its algorithm and control strategy are presented associated with it. The tracking algorithm is proposed and its performance is verified by experiment. The camera first captures the object, then it captures again after certain second. The position difference generates the horizontal and vertical velocities of the moving target, hence the final destination is estimated at gripping line. At the same time, the robot s...

GMTI (Ground Moving Target Indicator) is a kind of airborne radar function that is used widely in military applications to detect the moving targets on the ground. In this paper, GMTI signal processing technique was presented and its performance was verified using sum and difference channels raw data obtained by the captive flight test.

In this study, we investigated the effect of threshold on a delivered dose in organ with internal motion by respiration. With mathematic model for 3D dose calculation reported by Lujan et al., we had calculated the position of organ as a function of time in previous study. This result presented that the variation of organ is within 2 mm from initial exhale position to the organ position during operating 1 s. Gating threshold, in this study, is determined to the moving region of target during 1s at a primary position of exhale. This period of gating threshold is 50% of the duty cycle in a half breathing cycle which is period from the top position of exhalation to the bottom position of inhalation. Radiation fields were then delivered under three conditions; 1) existent of moving target in the region of threshold(1sec, 1.5sec), 2) existent of moving target out of the region of threshold, 3) non-moving target. The non-moving target delivery represents a dose different induced due to internal organ motion.
Perceiving a 3D moving target is important for automated machines including robots in a factory. Although stereovision or ultrasonic ranging is often employed for the purpose, the former requires high-cost systems, and the latter suffers from low-resolution. In this paper, we propose a PSD sensor array to acquire the 3D profile of an object conveyed by a belt. Rectangular parallelepiped target objects at random positions and orientations are assumed. Nine PSD sensors are configured in a $3{\times}3$ array above the belt, and fired in a sequence so that cross-talk can be avoided. Time gaps among sensor readings are compensated to get a result that is obtainable when sensors' measurements are made simultaneously along a sensing line. The system designed is tested with various objects in experiments.

This paper describes new moving target detection technique combining two algorithms to detect targets and reject clutters in video frame images for surveillance system: One obtains the region of moving target using phase correlation method using $N{\times}M$ sub-block images in frequency domain. The other uses adaptive threshold using learning weight for extracting target candidates in subtracted image. The block region with moving target can be obtained using the characteristics that the highest value of phase correlation depends on the movement of largest image in block. This technique can be used in camera motion environment calculating and compensating camera movement using FFT phase correlation between input video frame images. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm accurately detects target(s) with a low false alarm rate in variety environment using the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve.

In general, a Doppler radar can measure only the velocity of a moving target. To measure the distance of a moving target, it is necessary to use a frequency-modulated continuous wave or pulse radar. However, the latter are very complex in terms of both hardware as well as signal processing. Moreover, the requirement of wide bandwidth necessitates the use of millimeter-wave frequency bands of 24 GHz and 77 GHz. Recently, a new kind of Doppler radar using multitone frequency has been studied to sense the distance of moving targets in addition to their speed. In this study, we show that distance sensing of moving targets is possible by adjusting only the frequency of a 2.4 GHz Doppler radar with low cost phase lock loop. In particular, we show that distance can be sensed using only alternating current information without direct current offset information. The proposed technology satisfies the Korean local standard for low power radio equipment for moving target identification in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, and enables multiple long-range sensing and radio-frequency identification applications.
In this paper, a new target extraction algorithm is proposed, in which the coordinates of target are obtained adaptively by using the difference image information and the optical BPEJTC(binary phase extraction joint transform correlator) with which the target object can be segmented from the input image and background noises are removed in the stereo vision system. First, the proposed algorithm extracts the target object by removing the background noises through the difference image information of the sequential left images and then controlls the pan/tilt and convergence angle of the stereo camera by using the coordinates of the target position obtained from the optical BPEJTC between the extracted target image and the input image. From some experimental results, it is found that the proposed algorithm can extract the target object from the input image with background noises and then, effectively track the target object in real time. Finally, a possibility of implementation of the adaptive stereo object tracking system by using the proposed algorithm is also suggested.
