  • This paper proposes the blind watermarking algorithm for digital video based on magnitude modulus subband in wavelet transform domain. After transforming each of frames into wavelet domain, the proposed algorithm divides LH, HL, and HH subbands of 2-level into $3{\times}3$ blocks and calculates average magnitude modulus of all blocks. Then the watermark bit is embedded into a target magnitude modulus comparing with an average magnitude modulus within a block. Experimental results were confirmed that the proposed algorithm has the good robustness against MPEG and frame attacks than the conventional algorithm.

  • In this paper, we proposed realtime visual tracking system of moving object for 2D target using extended Kalman Filter Algorithm. A targeting marker are recongnized in each image frame and positions of targer object in each frame from a CCD camera while te targeting marker is attached to the tip of the SCARA robot hand. After the detection of a target coming into any position of the field-of-view, the target is tracked and always made to be located at the center of target window. Then, we can track the moving object which moved in inter-frames. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the Kalman filter algorithm for realtime tracking and estimated state value of filter, predicting the position of moving object to minimize an image processing area, and by reducing the effect by quantization noise of image

  • This paper, presents an efficient hardware architecture of high performance SVC(Scalable Video Coding). This platform uses dedicated hardware architecture to improve its performance. The architecture was prototyped in Verilog HDL and synthesized using the Synopsys Design Compiler with a 65nm standard cell library. At a clock frequency of 266MHz, This platform contains 2,500,000 logic gates and 750,000 memory gates. The performance of the platform is indicated by 30 frames/s of the SVC encoder Full HD($1920{\times}1080$), HD($1280{\times}720$), and D1($720{\times}480$) at 266MHz.

  • This paper discusses a searching method for special markers attached with persons in a surveillance video stream. The marker is a small plate with infrared LEDs, which is called a spatiotemporal marker because it shows a 2-D sequential pattern synchronized with video frames. The search is based on the motion vectors which is the same as one in video compression. The experiments using prototype markers show that the proposed method is practical. Though the method is applicable to a video stream independently, it can decrease total computation cost if motion vector analyses of a video compression and the proposed method is unified.

  • The ubiquitous smart home is the home of future that takes advantage of context information from user and home environment and provides automatic home services for the user. User's location and motion are the most important contexts in the ubiquitous smart home. This paper presents a method positioning user's location using four cameras and some home context parameter together with user preferences provided. Some geometry math problems would be raised to figure out approximately which area is monitored by cameras. The moving object is detected within the image frames and then simulated in a 2D window to present visually where user is located and show his moving. The moving ways are statistically recorded and used for predicting user's future moving.

  • Propagation speeds of turbulent premixed flames have been measured in a pulsed-flame flow reactor which generates flames propagating in nearly isotropic turbulent flow field with U'/$S_L$ ranging from 1.2 to 5.3. The measurement involved a high-speed digital imaging at 1000 frames/second to capture the flame propagation motion. In addition to the flame speed measurements, flame perimeter ratio was measured for comparison. The observed flame propagation speed is high ranging from 5 to 20 times the laminar flame speed for the range of U'/$S_L$. The flames observed at extreme equivalence ratios exhibit intermittent propagation in that only a small fraction of ignited flame kernel resulted in full propagation of the flame. Also, at low equivalence ratios the flame speed decreased substantially even at high turbulence intensities.

  • The reliability/redundancy of structural system has become a serious concern among engineers and researchers after structural failures in Northridge and Kobe earthquakes. The reliability/redundancy factor, ρ, in current codes considers only member force and floor area and has received much criticism from dissatisfied engineers. Within a reliability framework. the redundancy is investigated for dual systems of primary shear walls and secondary moment frames and steel moment frame systems. Probabilistic performance analyses are carried out baled on nonlinear responses under SAC ground motion. The effects of structural configuration, ductilily capacity, 3-D motion, and uncertainty of demand verses capacity are investigated. Important redundancy-contributing factors are identified and a uniform-risk redundancy factor is developed for design. The result are compared with the p factor and its inconsistency is pointed out.

  • This study describes the development of innovative connections between steel beams and concrete-filled tube columns that utilize a combination of low-carbon steel and super-elastic shape memory alloy components. The intent is to combine the recentering behavior provided by the shape memory alloys to reduce building damage and residual drift after a major earthquake with the excellent energy dissipation of the low-carbon steel. The analysis and design of structures requires that simple yet accurate models for the connection behavior be developed. The development of a simplified 2D spring connection model for cyclic loads from advanced 3D FE monotonic studies is described. The implementation of those models into non-linear frame analyses indicates hat the recentering systems will provide substantial benefits for smaller earthquakes and superior performance to all-welded moment frames for large earthquakes.
