Fast Matching Pursuit Method Using Property of Symmetry and Classification for Scalable Video Coding

  • Matching pursuit algorithm is a signal expansion technique whose efficiency for motion compensated residual image has already been demonstrated in the MPEG-4 framework. However, one of the practical concerns related to applying matching pursuit algorithm to real-time scalable video coding is its massive computation required for finding dictionary elements. In this respective, this paper proposes a fast algorithm, which is composed of three sub-methods. The first method utilizes the property of symmetry in 1-D dictionary element and the second uses mathematical elimination of inner product calculation in advance, and the last one uses frequency property of 2-D dictionary. Experimental results show that our algorithm needs about 30% computational load compared to the conventional fast algorithm using separable property of 2-D gabor dictionary with negligible quality degradation.

  • In this work, a highly linear video-speed CMOS current-mode digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is proposed. A newswitching scheme for the current cell matrix of the DAC simultaneously reduces graded and symmetrical errors to improve integral nonlinearities (INL). The proposed DAC is designed to operate at any supply voltage between 3V and 5V, and minimizes the glitch energy of analog outputs with degliching circuits developed in this work. The prototype dAC was implemented in a LG 0.8um n-well single-poly double-metal CMOS technology. Experimental results show that the differential and integral nonlinearities are less than .+-. LSB and .+-.0.8LSB respectively. The DAC dissipates 75mW at a 3V single power supply and occupies a chip area of 2.4 mm * 2.9mm.

  • 비디오 컨퍼런스는 시간적, 공간적으로 분산된 그룹의 의사소통 및 공동작업에 매우 유용하게 활용되고 있다. 이는 이동에 소요되는 시간 및 경제성에서 특히 강점을 가진다. 본 논문에서는 SVTE(Shared Virtual Table Environment)를 기반으로 하여, 3D 비디오와 Virtual Reality 기술을 결합한 차세데 비디오 컨퍼런스 시스템을 제안한다. 또한 서로 공유된 공간내에서, 평면상의 2D 화면보다 더욱 사실감 있는 3D 영상을 제공하는 비디오 컨퍼런스 시스템의 구조를 보이고, 제안된 시스템에서 고려되어야 할 영상처리 기법을 설명한다.

A Simple Eye Gaze Correction Scheme Using 3D Affine Transformation and Image In-painting Technique

  • Owing to high speed internet technologies, video conferencing systems are exploited in our home as well as work places using a laptop or a webcam. Although eye contact in the video conferencing system is significant, most systems do not support good eye contact due to improper locations of cameras. Several ideas have been proposed to solve the eye contact problem; however, some of them require complicated hardware configurations and expensive customized hardwares. In this paper, we propose a simple eye gaze correction method using the three-dimensional (3D) affine transformation. We also apply an image in-painting method to fill empty holes that are caused by round-off errors from the coordinate transformation. From experiments, we obtained visually improved results.

  • Recently, in the field of video surveillance, deep learning based learning method is applied to intelligent video surveillance system, and various events such as crime, fire, and abnormal phenomenon can be robustly detected. However, since occlusion occurs due to the loss of 3d information generated by projecting the 3d real-world in 2d image, it is need to consider the occlusion problem in order to accurately detect the object and to estimate the pose. Therefore, in this paper, we detect moving objects by solving the occlusion problem of object detection process by adding depth information to existing RGB information. Then, using the convolution neural network in the detected region, the positions of the 14 keypoints of the human joint region can be predicted. Finally, in order to solve the self-occlusion problem occurring in the pose estimation process, the method for 3d human pose estimation is described by extending the range of estimation to the 3d space using the predicted result of 2d keypoint and the deep neural network. In the future, the result of 2d and 3d pose estimation of this research can be used as easy data for future human behavior recognition and contribute to the development of industrial technology.

Web-based Real-time 3D Video Communication System for Reality Teleconferencing

  • In this paper, a new multi-view 3D video communication system for real-time Reality teleconferencing application is proposed by usin gthe IEEE 1394 digital cameras, Intel Xeon server computer system and Microsoft's DirectShow programming library and its performance is analyzed in terms of image-grabbing frame rate and number of views. The captured two-view image data is compressed by extraction of disparity data between them and transmitted to another client system through the communication network, in which multi-view could be synthesized with this received 2-view data using the intermediate view reconstruction technique and displayed on the multi-view 3D display system. From some experimental results, it is found that the proposed system can display 16-view 3D images with a gray of 8bits and a frame rate of 15fps.

  • Watermarking is one of the methods that insist on a copyright as it append digital signals in digital informations.(image, video, ets) In this paper, we proposed a digital watermarking algorithm which improved Gradient of DCT Coefficient. This method targets MPEG-2 TM5 system and watermarking process is to be performed during Quantization DCT. Watermark was inserted on Y components of each frames. The PSNR difference between the compressed images with and without watermarking was only 0..23dB. In each case that the resulting image was reusable the normalized correlation between the extracted watermark and the original one was above 0.99.

Trend Analysis of Men's Gymnastics on Floor Exercise in the 2018 Asian Games through Digital Video Materials (디지털 영상자료를 통한 2018 아시안게임 기계체조 마루운동에 대한 연기내용 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the trend of men's gymnastics on floor exercise final(8 gymnasts) in the 2018 Asian Games through digital video materials. Video recordings of floor exercise final were collected from the 2018 Asian Games. The cross-check with three international gymnastics judges on floor exercise final was analyzed. To fulfil the D-score, 8 gymnasts were the most performed backward saltos elements group(36 elements), forward salto with 1/1 turn(8 gymnasts), backward salto with 5/2 turn(8 gymnasts) and backward salto with 3/1 turn(8 gymnasts). The scores showd average the D score 6.0, E score 7.9, and connection values 0.25. To get a good results on floor exercise, gymnasts need to get a average the D score over 6.0, E score over 8.5, and connection values over 0.3.

Design of the Encryption/Decryption System in the Embedded Environment for Video Contents Protection (비디오 콘텐츠 보호를 위한 임베디드 환경에서의 실시간 암/복호화 시스템 설계)

  • According to rapid development of communication and video compression technology, the video contents are easily disseminated into various areas. In order to prevent illegal distribution of video contents, the necessity of video contents protection technology is increased. In this paper, we propose the video encryption and decryption algorithm based on logistic map and design the prototype system in real-time embedded environment. The sender system with encryption capability is implemented on DM642 EVM target board and the receiver system with decryption capability is implemented in satellite D-STB. Experimental results show that the time change ratio of encoding process on target board are less than 0.97% and the time change ratio of the decoding process on D-STB is less than 1.75%. So, we verify that the proposed encryption/decryption system can be used in real time application.

  • A watermarking for copyright protection of digital contents for broadcasting have to be made for a real-time system. In this paper, we propose a real-time video watermarking chip and system which is hardware based watermark embedding system of SD/HD video. Our chip is implemented by FPGA which is STRATIX device from ALTERA, and our system is implemented by GS1560A and GS1532 devices from GENNUM for HD/SD video signal processing. There was little visual artifact due to watermarking in subjective quality evaluation between the original video and the watermarked one. Embedded watermark was all extracted after a robustness test called natural video attacks such as A/D conversion and MPEG compression. Our implemented watermarking hardware system can be useful in movie production and broadcasting companies that requires real-time based copyright protection system.
