Monolithic Integrated Amplifier for Millimeter Wave Band (밀리미터파 대역 단일 집적 증폭기)

  • In this paper, 3 stage amplifier MMIC was designed and fabricated with U-band optimized epitaxal pHEMT that produced by large signal characterization and modeling for 60 GHz band. The pHEMT used in this paper, the gate $0.12\;{\mu}m$ length and total gate width of $100\;{\mu}m$, $200\;{\mu}m$ has been modeled using the large signal designed with negative feedback and MCLF instead of MIM capacitor for improving stability. Fabricated MMIC $2.5{\times}1.5mm^2$ size, current about 40 mA, operating frequency 59.5~60.5 GHz, gain 19.9~18.6 dB, input matching characteristics -14.6~-14.7 dB, output matching characteristics -11.9~-16.3 dB and output -5 dBm characteristics were obtained.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to stabilize the 3D pose estimation result of a 3D volumetric data sequence by matching the pose estimation results from multi-view. Draw a circle centered on the volumetric model and project the model from the viewpoint at regular intervals. After performing Openpose 2D pose estimation on the projected 2D image, the 2D joint is matched to localize the 3D joint position. The tremor of 3D joints sequence according to the angular spacing was quantified and expressed in graphs, and the minimum conditions for stable results are suggested.

  • We propose a novel method for the registration of 3D CT scans to 2D endoscopic images during the image-guided medialization laryngoplasty. This study aims to allow the surgeon to find the precise configuration of the implant and place it into the desired location by employing accurate registration methods of the 3D CT data to intra-operative patient and interactive visualization tools for the registered images. In this study, the proposed registration methods enable the surgeon to compare the outcome of the procedure to the pre-planned shape by matching the vocal folds in the CT rendered images to the endoscopic images. The 3D image fusion provides an interactive and intuitive guidance for surgeon by visualizing a combined and correlated relationship of the multiple imaging modalities. The 3D Magic Lens helps to effectively visualize laryngeal anatomical structures by applying different transparencies and transfer functions to the region of interest. The preliminary results of the study demonstrated that the proposed method can be readily extended for image-guided surgery of real patients.

  • In this paper, we propose a printed monopole antenna called the saw tooth monopole antenna(STMA) with a very wide band. And impedance matching of the antenna for the wideband is achieved using a special matching structure to vary ground size of back plate. The proposed antenna is smaller than general $\lambda$/4 monopole antenna in size but provides a 2:1 VSWR bandwidth of about $89.6\%$. The radiation pattern is omni-directional at 0.8 GHz$\~$2.0 GHz with gain of about -0.02 dBi$\~$2.54 dBi.

  • In this paper, the multi-band antenna with CPWG(Coplanar Waveguide with Ground) feed for telematics mobile devices is designed and fabricated. The proposed antenna improves the return loss characteristic by using open-circuited stub matching and rectangular slot in the radiation patch. In addition, CPWG structure makes up for the drawback of the CPW which is variation of impedance matching according to the gap variation of the feed line and the ground. The fabricated antenna has 1.4GHz ($1.43GHz{\sim}2.83GHz$, 65%) band width on -10dB (VSWR<2) and the maximum gains are 0.8dBi, 1.34dBi, 2.41dBi, 2.53dBi, 2.6dBi and 1.51dBi on each resonant frequency that are GPS $(1.564GHz{\sim}1.585GHz)$, PCS/DCS $(1.710GHz{\sim}1.984GHz)$, WCDMA $(2.170GHz{\sim}2300GHz)$, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/WLAN $(2.4GHz{\sim}2.483GHz)$, WiBro $(2.3GHz{\sim}2.4GHz)$, SDMB $(2.605GHz{\sim}2.655GHz)$. It also has an omni-directional radiation pattern of H-Plane.

  • 1962년 Armstrong 등에 의해 second harmonic generation(SHG) 의 이론이 완성된 후 SHG 효율을 높이기 위한 방법으로 비선형성이 큰 물질의 개발과 더불어 위상정합(phase matching)을 만족시키는 여러가지 방법이 연구 되었다. 특히 위상정합의 경우 지금까지는 복굴절을 이용하는 방법이 널리 사용되었으나 이 경우 입사광의 파장이 제한적이고, 많은 무기물 결정에서 비선형광학계수의 가장 큰 텐서 성분인 $d_{zzz}$를 사용할 수 없다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 반면 유사위상정합(Quasi-phase matching:QPM) 은 비선형광학계수( $d_{zzz}$)의 방향을 결맞음 길이(coherence length)마다 분극반전 시켜주어 2차 조화파의 진폭을 길이방향으로 계속 증가시키는 방법으로 구역반전된 길이를 조절하면 거의 모든 파장에 대해 비임계 위상정합( $d_{zzz}$ 사용)이 가능하고, 2차 조화파가 기본파의 전파경로에서 벗어나는 walk-off 현상이 없어 SHG 전환효율을 극대화할 수 있다.   • Recently, image matching becomes important in Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) due to the huge amount of medical images. Specially, texture feature is useful in medical image matching. However, texture features such as co-occurrence matrices can't describe well the spatial distribution of gray levels of the neighborhood pixels. In this paper we propose a frequency domain-based texture feature extractor that describes the local spatial distribution for medical image retrieval. This method is based on 2D Local Discrete Fourier transform of local images. The features are extracted from local Fourier histograms that generated by four Fourier images. Experimental results using 40 classes Brodatz textures and 1 class of Emphysema CT images show that the average accuracy of retrieval is about 93%.

3D Building Reconstructions for Urban Modeling using Line Junction Features

  • This paper propose a building reconstruction method of urban area for a 3D GIS with stereo images. The 3D reconstruction is performed by the grouping 3D line segments extracted from the stereo matching of salient edges which are derived from multiple images. The grouping is achieved by conditions of degrees and distances between lines. Building objects are determined by the junction combinations of the grouped line segments. The proposed algorithm demonstrates effective results of 3D reconstruction of buildings with 2D aerial images.

  • Face recognition is a big challenge in surveillance system since different rotation angles of the face make the difficulty to recognize the face of the same person. This paper proposes a novel method to recognize face with different head poses by using 3D information of the face. Firstly, head pose estimation (estimation of different head pose angles) is accomplished by the POSIT algorithm. Then, 3D face image data is constructed by using head pose estimation. After that, 2D image and the constructed 3D face matching is performed. Face verification is accomplished by using commercial face recognition SDK. Performance evaluation of the proposed method indicates that the error range of head pose estimation is below 10 degree and the matching rate is about 95%.

Autonomous Calibration of a 2D Laser Displacement Sensor by Matching a Single Point on a Flat Structure (평면 구조물의 단일점 일치를 이용한 2차원 레이저 거리감지센서의 자동 캘리브레이션)

  • In this paper, we introduce an autonomous calibration method for a 2D laser displacement sensor (e.g. laser vision sensor and laser range finder) by matching a single point on a flat structure. Many arc welding robots install a 2D laser displacement sensor to expand their application by recognizing their environment (e.g. base metal and seam). In such systems, sensing data should be transformed to the robot's coordinates, and the geometric relation (i.e. rotation and translation) between the robot's coordinates and sensor coordinates should be known for the transformation. Calibration means the inference process of geometric relation between the sensor and robot. Generally, the matching of more than 3 points is required to infer the geometric relation. However, we introduce a novel method to calibrate using only 1 point matching and use a specific flat structure (i.e. circular hole) which enables us to find the geometric relation with a single point matching. We make the rotation component of the calibration results as a constant to use only a single point by moving a robot to a specific pose. The flat structure can be installed easily in a manufacturing site, because the structure does not have a volume (i.e. almost 2D structure). The calibration process is fully autonomous and does not need any manual operation. A robot which installed the sensor moves to the specific pose by sensing features of the circular hole such as length of chord and center position of the chord. We show the precision of the proposed method by performing repetitive experiments in various situations. Furthermore, we applied the result of the proposed method to sensor based seam tracking with a robot, and report the difference of the robot's TCP (Tool Center Point) trajectory. This experiment shows that the proposed method ensures precision.
