For the purpose of making a new type of functional drinkable yoghurt, skim milk containing $0.5\~2.0\%$(w/v) green tea powder was fermented by the mixed stains of Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus acidophilus. Quality characteristics of the drinkable yoghurts were evaluated in terms of quality-keeping properties(number of viable cells, pH, titratable acidity) and sensory properties. When the drinkable yoghurts added with $0.5\~2.0\%$ green tea powder were kept at $4^{\circ}C\;and\;20^{\circ}C$ for 20 days, the number of viable cell counts of the lactic acid bacteria($2.1\times10^8\~6.2\times10^8$ CFU/mL). pH($4.16\~4.22$) and titratable acidity($0.792\~0.881\%$) were not significantly changed for all drinkable yoghurts during the storage at $4^{\circ}C\;and\;20^{\circ}C$ days, but the number of viable cell counts($4.2\times10^3\~1.8\times10^5$ CFU/mL), pH($3.82\~3.92$) and titratable acidity($1.057\~1.174\%$) were markedly changed f3r the storage at $20^{\circ}C$ for 20 days. Therefore the keeping quality of the drinkable yoghurts with addition of green tea powder was relatively good at $4^{\circ}C$ for 20 days. The results of sensory evaluation of the drinkable yoghurts containing peen tea powder indicated that flavor, sweet taste, mouthfeel and aftertaste of the drinkable yoghurt with $0.5\%$ green tea powder showed higher preference than others. And the drinkable yoghurt containing $0.5\% green tea powder added $20\%$(v/v) oligosaccharide had the higher sensory scores in sweet taste, aftertaste and overall acceptability among the treatments.
Endocrine disrupting chemiclas (EDCs) such as bisphenol A (BPA) and nonylphenol (NP) have estrogenic activity and can alter reproduction in fish. In the present study, the effects of BPA and NP on in vitro steroid production from oocytes of maturation stage (oocyte diameter$\fallingdotseq$1.88 mm) from the greenling (Hexagrammos agrammus) were evaluated. Oocytes were incubated with different concentrations of BPA and NP (0.1, 1, 10, 100 and 1,000 ng/$m{\ell}$) in the presence or absence of 50 IU human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) for 48 hours. After incubation, levels of $17{\alpha},\;20{\beta}$-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one ($17{\alpha}20{\beta}OHP$), estradiol-$17{\beta}(E_2)$ and testosterone (T) from incubated media were quantified by radioimmunoassay (RIA). In BPA treatment, 100 ng/$m{\ell}$ of BPA stimulated $E_2$ production regardless HCG supplement. Every concentration of BPA inhibited T production without HCG although 0.1 ng/$m{\ell}$ of BPA stimulated T production with HCG. In NP treatment, 10 ng/$m{\ell}$ of NP stimulated $17{\alpha}20{\beta}OHP$ and T production without HCG. 1 ng/$m{\ell}$ of NP inhibited $E_2$ production. Taken toghther, these results suggest that BPA might have weak estrogen-agonistic effect and NP has estrogenantagonistic effect at final oocyte maturation stage of H. agrammus.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect on chlorophyll fluorescence, stem sap flux relative rate (SFRR) and leaf temperature of cucumber when irrigation is controlled using a soil moisture tensiometer. Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) 'Chungchun' was irrigated of 10-10-20 kPa and 20-10-10 kPa by soil starting point of irrigation at each growth stage. At the 66 days after treatment (DAT) of 736 to 854 W·m-2 and above 32℃, chlorophyll fluorescence variables (Fo, Fm, Fv/Fm) values showed significantly different between treatments. The Fo and Fv/Fm value in the daytime (10:30 am to 6:00 pm) at 66 DAT was higher in 20-10-10 kPa treatment than in 10-10-20 kPa treatment. The Fv/Fm value decreased when the leaf temperature was increased. There was no difference in leaf growth (length, width and area) at 28 and 66 DAT, but the chlorophyll content (SPAD value) was significantly higher in 20-10-10kPa treatment. SFRR and leaf temperature increased with light intensity and temperature increased. In both treatments, the SFRR started to increase sharply between 8 am and 9 am when the solar radiation is 170 W·m-2 or higher. The soil temperature of the treatments decreased after irrigation, that showed 31.0℃ at 10-10-20kPa and 28.5℃ at 20-10-10kPa on July 5 (820W·m-2 at 1 pm). However, there was no difference in SFRR, leaf temperature, temperature difference (leaf temperature - air temperature) and VPD between treatments. SFRR was significantly positive correlate with the leaf temperature (p < 0.01, r = 0.770). The SFRR and leaf temperature showed positive significant correlation with solar radiation, temperature, soil temperature, soil moisture content and VPD. There was a negative significant correlation with relative humidity and temperature difference.

The for this study, turning circle tests and maneuvering indices were conducted to study and evaluate the maneuverabilities of the fishery training ship M.S. A-RA(G/T : 990tons). The results obtained were summarized as follows : 1. The advances of the starboard and port of the turning circle were measured based on the dumb card test method were 198m, 192m, the size of tactical diameters of them were 194m, 188m, respectively. 2. The advances at the starboard and port of the turning circles were measured according to the DGPS positioning obtained 196m, 194m, the size of tactical diameters of them were 194m, 190m, respectively. 3. The results were compared which came from the sizes of turning circle measured up with the dumb card test method during the trial test and from the size of turning circle measured according to the DGPS positioning. The advance of the turning circle measured at the time of the starboard turning according to the DGPS positioning was 1m longer than that of the trial test. And it was 21m shorter at the time of the port turning. 4. The rudder was steered at $35^{\circ}$ of rudder angle each starboard and port while the ship M.S. A-RA was advancing at full speed of 13 k't. The velocity of the ship was reduced to 7.8 k't at $180^{\circ}$ of turning angle and 6.0 k't at $360^{\circ}$ of turning angle and mean values of turning angular velocity of the port and starboard were $2.4^{\circ}$/sec and $2.3^{\circ}$/sec, respectively. 5. The Z test at each $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, and $30^{\circ}$ of rudder angle was carried out to have the maneuvering indices K and T measured. K for the each rudder angle were 1.24, 1.45, and 1.65 while T for the each rudder angle were 0.33, 0.20, and 0.14. That is, K at the Z test at $30^{\circ}$ was greater than at the Z test of $10^{\circ}$ and $20^{\circ}$ while T at the $30^{\circ}$ Z test was less than at the Z test of $10^{\circ}$ and 20.
This study focused on the association of prostaglandins and a progestin, $17{\alpha}$, $20{\beta}P$-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one ($17{\alpha}20{\beta}P$) during the ovulation process in longchin goby, Chasmichthys dolichognathus. We performed several in vitro experiments using $850-920{\mu}m$ diameter oocytes which were at the migratory nucleus stage. With the $890-920{\mu}m$ diameter oocytes, no significant difference in ovulation was observed in any of the prostaglandins (PGE1, PGE2, and $PGF2{\alpha}$) treated groups although PGE2 and $PGF2{\alpha}$ at concentrations of 50 ng/mL increased ovulation slightly compared with controls; however, $17{\alpha}20{\beta}P$ production was stimulated with PGE1 alone at low concentrations (5 ng/mL). In $850{\mu}m$ diameter oocytes, $PGF2{\alpha}$ at concentrations of 50 and 500 ng/mL resulted in a significant increase in ovulation. $17{\alpha}20{\beta}P$ (50 ng/mL) alone had no observable effect on ovulation, but in the combined of $PGF2{\alpha}$ 50 or 500 ng/mL it caused the greatest effect on ovulation. The sensitivity of oocytes to the induction of ovulation varies between 850 and $890-920{\mu}m$, it appeared to vary depending on the migration status of nucleus. These results suggest that $PGF2{\alpha}$ (or combined of $17{\alpha}20{\beta}P$) was more potent in inducing ovulation of the longchin goby.
The main purpose of this study was to provide information on attenuation effects in forest tree belt of pine stand and oak stand. The relationships between DBH, tree height, clear length, crown area and number of trees and also between distance from noise origin, landslope etc. were analysed by correlation and multiple regression. The results obtained were as follows : 1. There was no difference between pine stand and oak stand in effecting noise attenuation. 2. The noise pressure was highly correlated with all of seven elements tested and both DBH and distance from noise origin have higher r-values than the others. For the pine stand, it was 0.9133 in DBH and 0.9630 in the distance and for the oak stand, 0.9296 in DBH and 0.9565 in the distance. 3. The optimum regression equation for pine stand and oak stand were made by combination of two variables (DBH and distance). The table of noise attenuation was made by optimum regression equation. In the case of pine stand, the attenuation ratio was 29% at 5m, 31.6~32.6% at 10m, 38.3~39.8% at 20m and 45.2~46.6% at 30m. And case of oak stand, the attenuation ratio was 29% at 5m, 31.6~34.2% at 10m, 38.6~41.4% at 20m and 45~47.2% at 30m. 4. As the noise pressure limit at the Urban housing area according to environmental laws is under 55dB, it is suggested by the table of noise attenuation that the distance, and DBH for the pine and oak stand are over 20m, 400cm and 30-35 trees, respectively.
Leaf spot diseases were found on safflower (Carthamus thinctorius) leaf in several fields located in Euisong-Gun, Gyengbuk province in Korea. The infected leaf rate of the diseases in surveyed area were different each years from 2001 to 2003 such as about 5%, 10%, and 30%, repectively. The typicla symptoms of diseases appeared first as small, light brown spots on leaves. And then spot turn dark brown and magnified. And yellow decoloration zone appeared surrounding dark brown spots. Mycological characteristics of Alternaria carthami, isolated from safflower mature leaf spot were dark gray colonies, conidiophores simple erect, septated, 40~80 ${\mu}m$ length; conidia solitary, straight, body size fo without beak length 40~100${\mu}m$, 10~15${\mu}m$ thick, Number of transverse septa 4~10 and longitudinal septa 4~7 ; beak with 2~4 septa, 30~65${\mu}m$ length. And A. alternata, isolated from old leaf were gray~dark gray colonies, conidiophores simple or branched, 20~110 ${\mu}m$ length; conidia long chaines, short conical or cylindrical beak, 2~6 transverse septa and several longitudinal septa, body size of without beak length 30~60 ${\mu}m$, 10~20 ${\mu}m$ thick ; beak length 5~35 ${\mu}m$. These are the first report on the leaf spot of safflower caused by Alternaria carthami, A alternata in Korea.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of donor cell passage, size and type on the development of nuclear transfer embryos. Porcine cumulus cells, fetal fibroblasts and oviductal epithelial cells from 1-2, 3-6 and 7-10 passages were used for the nuclear transfer. In the oocytes with the cumulus donor cells, fusion and cleavage rates of oocytes and cell numbers per blastocyst among the three different passage groups did not show any differences, but the rates of blastocyst formation from 1-2 and 3-6 passage groups were higher than those from 7-10 passage group. The rates of fusion, cleavage and blastocyst formation, and the cell numbers per blastocyst were higher in the embryos with the sizes of <20 and 20 ${\mu}m$ cumulus donor cells compared to the >20 ${\mu}m$ cumulus donor cell. In the oocytes with the fetal fibroblast donor cells, the rate of blastocyst formation from the 3-6 passage group was higher than from 1-2 and 7-10 passage groups. The embryos with the size of 20 $\mu{m}$ fetal fibroblast donor cell showed higher rate of blastocyst formation compared to those with <20 and >20 ${\mu}m$ donor cells. In the oocytes with the oviductal epithelial cells, the rates of blastocyst formation from 1-2 and 3-6 passage groups were higher compared to those from 7-10 passage group. The embryos with the sizes of <20 and 20 ${\mu}m$ oviductal epithelial donor cells had a higher rate of blastocyst formation compared to those with >20 ${\mu}m$ donor cell. Fusion and cleavage rates of oocytes, and cell numbers per blastocyst among the three different donor cell types from the 3-6 passage did not show any differences. However, the rate of blastocyst formation of somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) embryos with the fetal fibroblast donor cell was higher than that of blastocyst formation of SCNT embryos with the cumulus and oviductal epithelial donor cells.
This study was designed to examine the mechanism of penile erection in adult bull by analyzing the responses of bovine proximal retractor penile muscle strips(BRP) to electtical field stimulation(EFS), exogenous nitric oxide(NO), NO synthesis precursor(L-arginine), NO synthase inhibitors(L-NAME, L-NMMA), guanylate cyclase inhibitor(methylene blue) and nonspecific potassium channel blocker(tetraethylammonium, TEA) treatments. Isometric tension of BRP was measured using physiograph. Results were summarized as follows: 1. EFS of nonadrenergic noncholinrgic(NANC) nerve in BRP produced frequency-dependent inhibitory responses to the contraction induced by co-treatment of epinephrine, guanethidine and atropine. The inhibitory responses to EFS were blocked by tetrodotoxin(TTX, $1{\mu}M$). 2. Treatment of L-NAME ($10,\;20{\mu}M$) inhibited the relaxation to EFS whereas L-NMMA ($100{\mu}M$) had no effect. 3. Treatment of NO($20,\;40{\mu}M$; as an acidified solution of $NaNO_2$) induced concentration-dependent relaxation whereas preincubation of TTX($1{\mu}M$) and L-NAME($20{\mu}M$) had no effect on the relaxation response. 4. L-arginine treatment(10mM) blocked the inhibitory effect of L-NAME($20{\mu}M$). 5. Pretreatment of methylene blue($40{\mu}M$) reduced the NANC-induced relaxation of BRP. 6. Tetraethylammonium(TEA, 80mM) reduced NANC relaxation. These results suggest that NO may act as a NANC neurotransmitter in BRP and the effects might be mediated by cGMP and potassium channel.

Human milk is normally contaminated with various microorganisms, which seem to produce no ill effects. A contamination of hand-expressed and pump-expressed human milk is a major concern in the collection of storage milk. In this study we compared milks collected by two methods, hand expression and suction breast pump, to quantify differences in the degree of bacterial contamination. Thirty-one samples had been manually expressed. The mean of total bacterial counts was 10,600 CFU/mL (range: 360 ∼59,200 CFU/mL) and coliform counts was 43 CFU/mL (range: 20 ∼ 1,060 CFU/mL) in these samples. Whereas in the 118 breast pump-expressed samples, the mean of total bacterial counts was 20,200 CFU/mL (range: 240 ∼ 492,000 CFU/mL) and coliform counts was 158 CFU/mL (range: 4∼10,600 CFU/mL). There was no bacterial growth when the samples were incubated for 10 days at 4$\^{C}$. We also compared total bacterial growth in colostrum and in matured human milk for 24 hr at 20$\^{C}$ and 30$\^{C}$. Although bacterial growth had not shown for 24 hr at 20$\^{C}$, but shown slight growth in colostrum and rapidly increase in matured human milk for 24 hr at 30$\^{C}$. The coliform bacteria in all samples, particulary in formula milk, had grown at 20$\^{C}$ and 30$\^{C}$.
