In this paper, a DC-DC converter is designed for logic process MTP (multi-time programmable) memory IPs using dual program voltage, which are used for analog trimming or storing chip IDs in sensor applications. The DC-DC converter supplies VPP (=5.25V), VNN (=-5.25V), and VNNL ($=2{\cdot}VNN/5$). It uses MOS capacitors and designed with only 3,3V devices. VPP and VNN are configured in two and five stages, respectively. And their pumping currents are $9.17{\mu}A$ and $9.7{\mu}A$, respectively.
Background : To compare the efficacies and side effects of etoposide, cisplatin/cyclophosphamide, adriamycin, vincristine(VPP/CAV) with those of carboplatin etoposide(CE) in extensive stage small cell lung cancer patients. Method : Patients with extensive stage small lung cancer who has measurable disease were eligible. VPP/CAV group(n=22) was treated with cisplatin(60mg/$m^2$ iv. D1) etoposide(100mg/$m^2$ iv. D1-3), and 3 weeks later cyclophosphamide(1000mg/$m^2$ iv. D1), adriamycin( 40mg/$m^2$ iv. D1), and vincristine(1.4mg/$m^2$ iv. D1), were administered alternatively. CE group(n=22) was treated with carboplatin(325mg/$m^2$ iv. D1) and etoposide (100mg/$m^2$ iv. D1-3) ; repeated treatment was performed every 3 weeks. Result : Forty four patients were eligible for the study. The overall response rate was 61.4% (complete remission rate 0%, partial response rate 61.4%, stable disease rate 25%, progressive disease rate 13.6%), and median survival was 10.8 months. In VPP/CAV group, response rate was 54.5% (complete remission rate 0%, partial response rate 54.4%, stable disease rate 27.3%, progressive disease rate 18.2%), and, in carboplatin/etoposide group, the response rate was 68.2%(complete remission rate 0%, partial response rate 68.2%, stable disease rate 22.7%, progressive disease rate 9.1%). The median survival time was 9.5 months in the VPP/CAV group and 11 months in CE group. The toxicity of both group was moderate, and anemia was more frequent in the CE group. Conclusion : VPP/CAV regimen and CE regimen produced similar response rates and survival times in extensive stage small cell lung cancer patients. CE regimen may be effective as part of the initial therapy for extensive stage small cell lung cancer.

In this paper, we design a 512Kb eFlash IP using 110nm eFlash cells. We proposed eFlash core circuit such as row driver circuit (CG/SL driver circuit), write BL driver circuit (write BL switch circuit and PBL switch select circuit), read BL switch circuit, and read BL S/A circuit which satisfy eFlash cell program, erase and read operation. In addition, instead of using a cross-coupled NMOS transistor as a conventional unit charge pump circuit, we propose a circuit boosting the gate of the 12V NMOS precharging transistor whose body is GND, so that the precharging node of the VPP unit charge pump is normally precharged to the voltage of VIN and thus the pumping current is increased in the VPP (boosted voltage) voltage generator circuit supplying the VPP voltage of 9.5V in the program mode and that of 11.5V in the erase mode. A 12V native NMOS pumping capacitor with a bigger pumping current and a smaller layout area than a PMOS pumping capacitor was used as the pumping capacitor. On the other hand, the layout area of the 512Kb eFlash memory IP designed based on the 110nm eFlash process is $933.22{\mu}m{\times}925{\mu}m(=0.8632mm^2)$.

MCU used in applications such as wireless chargers and USB type-C require MTP memory with a small cell size and a small additional process mask. Conventional double poly EEPROM cells are small in size, but additional processing masks of about 3 to 5 sheets are required, and FN tunneling type single poly EEPROM cells have a large cell size. In this paper, a 110nm MTP cell using a vertical PIP capacitor is proposed. The erase operation of the proposed MTP cell uses FN tunneling between FG and EG, and the program operation uses CHEI injection method, which reduces the MTP cell size to 1.09㎛2 by sharing the PW of the MTP cell array. Meanwhile, MTP memory IP required for applications such as USB type-C needs to operate over a wide voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V. However, the pumping current of the VPP charge pump is the lowest when the VCC voltage is the minimum 2.5V, while the ripple voltage is large when the VCC voltage is 5.5V. Therefore, in this paper, the VPP ripple voltage is reduced to within 0.19V through SPICE simulation because the pumping current is suppressed to 474.6㎂ even when VCC is increased by controlling the number of charge pumps turned on by using the VCC detector circuit.

A novel bacteriophage, designated as VPP97, that infects the strains of Vibiro parahaemolyticus (hallophilic, Gram-negative bacterium) isolated most commonly from marine environments, has been discovered, and several of its properties have been determined. The plaques were clear and sized $0.6{\sim}1.0\;mm$ in diameter. The virion forms a single band on 70% sucrose gradient and ${\rho}1.50$ CsCl gradient by sucrose gradient centrifugation and CsCl gradient centrifugation respectively. It has a hexagonal head and a relatively long tail, as shown by electron microscopy. Vibrio alginolyticus, Vibrio fluvialis and Vibrio furnissii were also sensitive to this phage. It was almost totally inactivated at $70^{\circ}C$ and at pH below 5 or over 10. The nucleic acid of VPP97 is composed of DNA. The VPP97 had 9 specific structural proteins sized between 21.5 kDa and 97.4 kDa on SDS-PAGE. When V. parahaemolyticus cultures were treated with either phage VPP97 or one of the several antibiotics for 2 hours, the viable number of V. parahaemolyticus treated with the phage VPP97 is lower than that treated with chloramphenicol, erythromycin or penicillin, but not lower than that treated with tetracycline. Mice that have responded to the phage treatment revealed the lower numbers of V. parahaemolyticus in small intestine and less damage on small intestine compared to the untreated mice. Therefore, we suggest that the phage treatment appears effective to the infection by V. parahaemolyticus.
Background: The benefits of combination chemotherapy in unresectable non-small cell lung cancer remain uncertain. But, according to the recent reports, the response rates of cisplatin-based polychemotherapy regimens are higher than those of single agent. Also, the response rates of high-dose cisplatin group are higher than those of low-dose cisplatin group. In attemp to answer the question whether treatments, combination chemotherapy (high VPP) and combination chemotherapy with radiation therapy, improve survival in advanced non-small cell lung cancer, we begin to study. Method: Thirty-five patients above stage III, diagnosed histologically as non-small cell lung cancer, were enrolled. Among them, nineteen received a combination chemotherapy consisting of VP-16 & high-dose cisplatin (100 $mg/m^2$) and/or radiation therapy. The other group (16 subjects) received no therapy. To investigate the differences of survival and response rates between two groups and the side effects related to therapy, we reviewed patients' records. Results: 1) The overall objective response rate was 47%(9/19) with one complete remission. 2) In patients who received polychemotherapy and radiation therapy, the response rate was 60%(6/10) with one complete remission and survival rates of 3 months, 6 months and 12 months were 100%, 70% and 40%. 3) In patients who received polychemotherapy, the response rate was 33% (3/9) with no complete remission and survival rates of 3 months, 6 months and 12 months were 78%, 67% and 33%. 4) Overall, treated patients survived significantly longer (p<0.05) than non-treated patients (median survival 307 days versus 95 days). 5) Analysis of the various prognostic factors disclosed that good performance status, stage III and squamous cell type showed the good response rates. 6) The toxicities were nausea and/or vomiting (100%), alopecia (90%), anemia (79%), leukopenia (69%), thrombocytopenia (2%), increased creatinine (16%) and neurotoxicity (5%). Conclusion: According to above results, there are relatively good results that high VPP combination chemotherapy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer improves survival in the treated group than in the non-treated group. Thus, it is considerd that we select the patients with proper indications and treat them with effective chemotherpy and radiation therapy. But, because improvement related to high VPP ploychemotherapy is not marked in this study, it is necessary that we should investigate follow-up studies in many cases.

In this paper, a 512b MTP memory IP is designed by using MTP memory cells which are written by the FN (Fowler-Nordheim) tunneling method with only MV (medium voltage) devices of 5V which uses the back-gate bias, that is VNN (negative voltage). The used MTP cell consists of a CG (control gate) capacitor, a TG (tunnel gate) transistor, and a select transistor. To reduce the size of the MTP memory cell, just two PWs (P-wells) are used: one for the TG and the select transistors; and the other for the CG capacitor. In addition, just one DNW (deep N-well) is used for the entire 512b memory cell array. VPP and VNN generators supplying pumping voltages of ${\pm}8V$ which are insensitive to PVT variations since VPP and VNN level detectors are designed by a regulated voltage, V1V (=1V), provided by a BGR voltage generator.
Next future, The bio technology will be a rapidly developing. This paper is the scattering beam measurement of the red blood cell (RBC) and the fabrication of the micro cell biochip using the bio micro electro mechanical system (Bio-MEMS) process technology. The Major process method of Bio-MEMS technology was used the buffered oxide etchant (BOE), electro chemical discharge (ECD) and ultraviolet sensitive adhesives (UVSA). All experiments were the 10 times according to the process conditions. The experiment and research are required the ultraviolet expose, the micro fluid current, the cell control and the measurement of the output voltage Vpp (peak to peak) waveform by scattering angles. The transmitting and receiving of the laser beam was used the single mode optical fiber. The principles of the optical properties are as follows. The red blood cells were injected into the micro channel. The single mode optical fiber was inserting in the guide channel. The He-Ne laser beam was focusing in the single mode optical fiber. The transmission He-Ne laser beam is irradiating to the red blood cells. The manufactured guide channel consists of the four inputs and the four outputs. The red blood cell was allowed with the cylinder pump. The output voltage Vpp waveform of the scattering beam was measured with a photo detector. The receiving angle of the output optical fiber is $0^{\circ}$, $5^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$. The magnitude of the output voltage Vpp waveform was measured in the decrease according to increase of the reception angles. The difference of the output voltage Vpp waveform is due differences of the light transmittance of the red blood cells.
High-speed IC for time-division multiplexing (TDM) optical transmission systems have been designed and fabricated by using InP heterojunction-bipolar-transistor (HBT) technology. The driver IC was developed for driving external modulators, featuring differential outputs and the operation speed up to 10 Gbps with an output voltage swing of 1.3 Vpp at each output which was the limit of the measurement. Because -3 dB frequency was 20GHz, this circuit will be operated up to 20Gbps. 1.3Vpp differential output was achieved by switching 50 mA into a 50 $\Omega$ load. The power dissipation of the driver IC was 1W using a single supply voltage of -3.5Y. Input md output return loss of the IC were better than 10 dB and 15 dB, respectively, from DC to 20GHz. The chip size of fabricated IC was $1.7{\Box}1.2 mm^{2}$.

This paper presents a low voltage operating IF QPSK receiver block which is consisted of programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and analog to digital converter. This PGA has 6 bit control and 250MHz bandwidth, $0{\sim}20\;dB$ gain range. Using the proposed PGA architecture (low distortion gain control switch block), we can process the continuous fully differential $0.2{\sim}2.5Vpp$ input/output range and 44MHz carrier with 2 MHz bandwidth signal at 1.8V supply voltage. Using the sub-sampling technique (input freq. is $44{\sim}46MHz$, sampling freq. is 25MHz), we can process the IF QPSK signal ($44{\sim}46MHz$) which is the output of the 6 bit PGA. We can get the SNDR 35dB, which is the result of PGA and ADC at full gain mode. We fabricated the PGA and ADC and the digital signal processing block of the IF QPSK with the 0.18um CMOS MIM process 1.8V Supply.
