The understanding spectral characterization of possible earth-like extra solar planets has generated wide interested in astronomy and space science. The technical central issue in observation of exoplanet is deconvolution of the temporally and disk-averaged spectra of the exoplanets. The earth model based on atmospheric radiative transfer method has been studied in recent years for solutions of characterization of earthlike exoplanet. In this study, we report on the current progress of the new method of 3D earth model as a habitable exoplanet. The computational model has 3 components 1) the sun model, 2) an integrated earth BRDF (Bi-directional Reflectance Distribution Function) model (Atmosphere, Land and Ocean) and 3) instrument model combined in ray tracing computation. The ray characteristics such as radiative power and direction are altered as they experience reflection, refraction, transmission, absorption and scattering from encountering with each all of optical surfaces. The Land BRDF characteristics are defined by the semi-empirical "parametric-kernel-method" from POLDER missions from CNES. The ocean BRDF is defined for sea-ice cap structure and for the sea water optical model, considering sun-glint scattering. The input cloud-free atmosphere model consists of 1 layers with vertical profiles of absorption and aerosol scattering combined Rayleigh scattering and its input characteristics using the NEWS product in NASA data and spectral SMARTS from NREL and 6SV from Vermote E. The trial simulation runs result in phase dependent disk-averaged spectra and light-curves of a virtual exoplanet using 3D earth model.
Concrete is a heterogeneous material exhibiting quasi-brittle behaviour. While homogenization of concrete is commonly accepted in general engineering applications, a detailed description of the material heterogeneity using a mesoscale model becomes desirable and even necessary for problems where drastic spatial and time variation of the stress and strain is involved, for example in the analysis of local damages under impact, shock or blast load. A mesoscale model can also assist in an investigation into the underlying mechanisms affecting the bulk material behaviour under various stress conditions. Extending from existing mesoscale model studies, where use is often made of specialized codes with limited capability in the material description and numerical solutions, this paper presents a mesoscale computational model developed under a general-purpose finite element environment. The aim is to facilitate the utilization of sophisticated material descriptions (e.g., pressure and rate dependency) and advanced numerical solvers to suit a broad range of applications, including high impulsive dynamic analysis. The whole procedure encompasses a module for the generation of concrete mesoscale structure; a process for the generation of the FE mesh, considering two alternative schemes for the interface transition zone (ITZ); and the nonlinear analysis of the mesoscale FE model with an explicit time integration approach. The development of the model and various associated computational considerations are discussed in this paper (Part 1). Further numerical studies using the mesoscale model for both quasi-static and dynamic loadings will be presented in the companion paper (Part 2).
Purpose: This study was conducted to define the concept of stress in siblings of childhood cancer patients. Methods: The hybrid model was used to perform the concept analysis of stress in childhood cancer patients' siblings. Through reviews of 16 studies in the theoretical phase and interviews with 20 siblings in the field phase, the derived results were brought together in the integration phase. Results: The concept of stress in siblings of patients with childhood cancer was found to have 6 attributes and 28 indicators in 3 domains. Personal factors included 2 attributes (fear about childhood cancer and immature coping skills), and family factors had 2 attributes (changes in relationships with family and changes in family environment), social factors had 2 attributes (changes in relationships with friends and in the school experience, and insufficient social support). Conclusion: The stress of siblings of childhood cancer patients was defined as a state of tension associated with personal, family, social factors that can be related to their siblings' childhood cancer. The findings in this study provide the base for the development of a tool for measuring siblings' stress and/or the development of nursing programs for these siblings.

This study is focused on the comparison of a 3 dimensional numerical and hydraulic model experiment for the flow phenomenon when a lock gate is opened. The lock gate is designed to discharge the flood flow rate at $218m^3/s$ of Solicheon at the Kun Jang national industry complex. The three dimensional ${\kappa}-{\epsilon}$ turbulent model of ANSYS CFX-10 of the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) program was used. The characteristics of CFX-10 are able to be simulated effectively for turbulent flow, especially the flow separation of the boundary layer of the two phase interface of air and water. The velocity and the flow pattern of the numerical model was showed to be similar to the results of the hydraulic model experiment.

Flash memories are one of best media to support portable computer's storages in mobile computing environment. The features of non-volatility, low power consumption, and fast access time for read operations are sufficient grounds to support flash memory as major database storage components of portable computers. However, we need to improve traditional transaction management scheme due to the relatively slow characteristics of flash operation as compared to RAM memory. in order to achieve this goal, we devise a new scheme called Flash Two Phase Locking (F2PL) scheme for efficient transaction processing. F2Pl improves transaction performance by allowing multi version reads and efficiently handling slow flash write/erase operation in lock management process. We also propose a simulation model to show the performance of F2PL. Based on the results of the performance evaluation, we conclude that F2PL scheme outperforms the traditional scheme.

Gas-Liquid multiphase flow simulation has been carried out using the Lattice boltzmann method. For the interface treatment, pseudo-potential model (Shan-Chen) was used with the Carnahan-Starling equation of state. Exact Difference Method also applied for the treatment of the force term. Through the developed code, we simulated coexsitence structure of high and low density, phase separation, surface tension effect, characteristics of moving interface, homogeneous and heterogeneous cavitation and bubble collaps.

Purpose : Under the assumption of change to the amplitude based sorting, the study will use four dimensional computed tomography imaging (4DCT) arrayed using the phase based sorting to analyze the respiratory phase difference. Materials and Methods : The study analyzed the 4DCT (4-dimensional computed tomography) images of 10 liver cancer patients that were treated with respiratory gated radiotherapy from 2015 February to March. Using RPM respiratory gating (RPM 1.7.5, Varian, USA) equipment, imaging according to respiratory cycle of phase based sorting was acquired and using a treatment planning system (Pinnacle 9.2, Philips, USA) the acquired imaging according to respiratory cycle was used to measure the abdominal movement value by respiratory cycle. The measuring point was the point where the center point of the Marker Block and the body surface met in the 50% phase image and here the coordinate values Lateral, Vertical, Longitudinal (X, Y, Z) were set as reference points, and on the X, Z plane identical to the reference point, using the identical method the Y axis coordinate value of each 0%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 80% phase images were acquired to quantitatively measure the variation of distance to the Y axis. The abdominal movement value according to respiration was applied to the theoretical model that the value decreases linearly from maximum inhalation to maximum exhalation to divide the variation of my value to predict as amplitude value by respiratory cycle and conversely the variation in amplitude was recalculated with the phase variation deviation value to analyze. Results : The deviation value between expected value and actual location was the largest in the 30% phase with 0.24 cm, and standard deviation was also the largest in 30% phase with 0.13 cm. The effective value of the deviation value derived from the average of the deviation squared value of each patient appeared as minimum 0.7 cm, maximum 0.18 cm, average 0.12 cm, and standard deviation 0.4 cm. Also by dividing the actual movement distance value with the peak expiration value then converting it into %Phase, the deviation value with actual phase 16.5% in 30% phase, 10.0% and 40% phase, 10.0% and 60% phase, 15.4% and 80% phase, and overall average about 13%, and arraying based on amplitude, phase shift occurred and further it was from peak expiration the chance of deviation occurrence was increasingly measured. Conclusion : Based on the results of the study there were differences between value acquired based on theoretical model and actual value. Therefore in respiratory gated radiotherapy using external surrogates, there needs to be establishment of respiration gated radiation system that avoids the combination of two Sorting methods considering that there will be occurrence of treatment and corresponding clinical differences due to the phase difference that occur due to the Amplitude based Phase Sorting.

To demonstrate the applicability of RELAP5 to the prediction of the onset offlooding in the hot leg at the reflux condensation phase during mid-loop operation, numerical analysis is performed for the counter-current flow in a horizontal pipe with the inclined riser using the RELAP5/MOD3.2.2b code. It is found that the RELAP5, simulating the CCFL phenomena using interfacial friction along with the flow regime map in the horizontal pipe, produces unsatisfactory results. Under the CCFL condition, it is observed that large oscillation exists in the flow rate, void fraction, and etc. and the liquid flow rate is much lower than that predicted by the CCFL model measured in the experiment. The CCFL model of RELAP5 for the vertical volume is extended to the model for the horizontal and inclined volumes. The horizontal volume flow regime map and interfacial friction model coupled to the CCFL model are modified. And a new correlation developed from Kang's experiment is implemented to the CCFL model of RELAP5. With this modified RELAP5, the analysis of CCFL phenomena in the horizontal pipe and hot leg geometry is performed, and produces reasonable results in comparison with experimental data.
The thermal conductivity of uranium oxide (UO2) containing pores and grain boundaries is investigated using continuum-level simulations based on the finite-difference method in two and three dimensions. Steady-state heat conduction is solved on microstructures generated from the phase-field model of the porous polycrystal to calculate the effective thermal conductivity of the domain. The effects of porosity, pore size, and grain size on the effective thermal conductivity of UO2 are quantified. Using simulation results, a new empirical model is developed to predict the effective thermal conductivity of porous polycrystalline UO2 fuel as a function of porosity and grain size.
Early investigations focused mainly on manipulating the confinement effect to develop a reinforced concrete column with lateral hoops. Based on this legacy model, Li's model incorporated the additional confinement effect of a steel jacket. However, recent experiments on plain concrete cylinders with steel jackets revealed relatively large discrepancies in the estimates of strength enhancement and the post-peak behavior. Here, we describe a modified constitutive law for confined concrete with an unbonded external steel jacket in terms of three regions for the loading stage. We used a two-phase heterogeneous concrete model to simulate the uniaxial compression test of a $150mm{\times}300mm$ concrete cylinder with three thicknesses of steel jackets: 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, and 2.0 mm. The proposed constitutive model was verified by a series of finite element analyses using a finite element program. The damaged plasticity model and extended Drucker-Prager model were applied and compared in terms of the level of pressure sensitivity for confinement in 3D. The proposed model yielded results that were in close agreement with the experimental results.
