  • In order to cool the SMES coil to the operating temperature, conduction cooling is generally used. However, it often consumes a large amount of electric power because of it's continuous cryocooler operation. This can also lead to poor thermal stability and serious protection problems of the system. Solid nitrogen (SN2) can counter those disadvantages in the conduction cooling system because it has a large heat capacity. Particularly, a large amount of enthalpy with a minimal weight to the cold body of SN2 makes a compact and portable system by increase a recooling to recooling time period (RRTP) value. A conceptual design of the proto-type SN2 cooling system for a portable HTS superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) system will be introduced in this paper.

  • Three successive phase transitions in bis-n-octhylammonium hexachlorostannate, $(n-C_8H_{17}NH_3)_2SnCl_6$, were studied by means of the ^1H nuclear magnetic resonance linewidth and spin-lattice relaxation measurements. Unlike the compounds with longer hydrocarbon chains, the order-disorder and conformational nature were found to coexist in the phase transitions.

  • The main difference between a linear system and a nonlinear system is the existence of direct interactions between input signals. These interactions will be classified into three types, (1) self-interaction among different order terms of control signals, (2) static mutual interactions between the control signals, and (3) dynamic interactions through the coefficient venctor fields of the control variables. In this paper, we will show that interactions of type (2) and (3) can be avoided by applying an appropriate dynamic compensator, while the interaction of type (1) is fatal.

  • Let M and N be CR manifolds with nondegenerate Levi forms of hypersurface type of dimension 2m + 1 and 2n + 1, respectively, where 1 $\leq$ m $\leq$ n. Let f : M longrightarrow N be a CR mapping. Under a generic assumption we construct a complete system of finite order for the infinitesimal deformations of f. In particular, we prove the space of infinitesimal deformations of f forms a finite dimensional Lie algebra.

  • The performance of Li-ion system based on $LiCoO_2$ and Graphite is well optimized for the 3C applications. The charge-discharge mode, the manufacturing process, the cell performance and the thermal reactions affecting safety has been explained in the engineering point of view. The energy density of the current LIB system is in the range of 300~400 Wh/l. In order to achieve the energy density higher than 500 Wh/l, the active materials should be modified or changed. Adopting new high capacity anode materials would be effective to improve energy density.

  • It is often required to display 3-D data onto a 2-D screen and to examine and verify validity of data. LIDAR data is a good example. They represent 3-D spatial information in text format. However, it is very difficult to examine data on a 2-D screen. A 3-D data viewing system has been implemented and tested in order to solve the problem.

  • In the thermal power plant, it is difficult to maintain strict control of the steam temperature in order to avoid thermal stress, because of variation of the heating value according to the fuel source, the time delay of changes in main steam temperature versus changes in fuel flow rate, difficulty of control on the main steam temperature control and the reheater steam temperature control system owing to the dynamic response characteristics of changes in steam temperature and the reheater steam temperature, fluctuation of inner fluid water and steam flow rates widely during load-following operation. Up to the present time, the PID controller has been used to operate this system...

  • In this paper, we analyze the delay phenomenon that can occur when controlling an unmanned aerial vehicle using a camera and describe a solution to solve the phenomenon. The group of pictures (GOP) value is changed in order to reduce the delay according to the frame data size that can occur in the moving image data transmission. The appropriate GOP values were determined through experimental data accumulation and validated through camera self-test, system integration laboratory (SIL) verification test and system integration test.
