  • The objectives of this study are to consider about the research of a costume and a discussion about a system of costume by practical science scholar in the late period of Chosun Dynasty. The result are descrived as follows: 1. The purpose that practical sciellce scholars researched a costulne was not only the intellectual research but also to make a basis in order to reform a uncorrected costume's system. Their study had two point. The one was the investigating research about the origin and change of the costume. The other was the study about a formation of costume. 2. The practical science scholars determined the directions to reform a wrong costumes' system on the basis of the research about a costume. They had three directions. Those were a conservatism, a rationalism to think the realities of life and a reformation. 3. The practical science scholars' thinking was to pursue the origin form and the practical use. This two axis show the direction to improve our costulne's culture now a day.

  • To improve the performance of automatic labelling system, the context-dependent demiphone unit was proposed. A phone is divided into two parts: a left demiphone that accounts for the left side coarticulation and a right demiphone that copes with the right side context. Demiphone unit provides a better training of the transition between phones. In this paper, If the length of the phone is less than 120 msec, it is split into two demiphones. If the length of the phone is greater than 120 msec, it is divided into three parts. In order to evaluate the performance of the system, we use 452 phonetically balanced words(PBW) database for training and testing phoneme models. According to the experiment, the system using proposed demiphone unit compared with that using old demiphone unit gains 3.83% improved result(71.63%) within 10ms of the duo boundary, and 2.20% improved result(86.41%) within 20ms of the true boundary.

  • The numerical formulation of a two-phase interface element appropriate for porous lining system is presented. The formulation is isoparametric and can be applied both for 2-D and 3-D analysis. Biot's theory is utilized as the basis for the development of the element constitutive theory. In order to be capable of simulating the reinforcing characteristics of some geotextiles utilized as lining system, a reinforcement component has also been implemented into the formulation. By employing this specially developed interface finite element, the influence of soil consolidation on the stress distribution along the lining system of a reservoir and a landfill has been investigated.

  • By showing the existence of the ARE solution and the convergence property of the DRE solution, this paper proves that a Kalman filter for the linear system with the unobservable bias is stable. It is also shown that the Kalman filter has a biased steady state estimation error whose covariance is affected mainly by the unobservable bias. Finally, the results are illustrated through a 2nd order system example including the inertial navigation system.

  • Development and application of structural health monitoring system in Korea have become active since the early 1990's. In earlier applications, health monitoring systems were installed in several existing bridges in order to collect initial field data by full scale load capacity test for design verification and subsequently monitor long-term performance and durability of the bridge as part of an inspection and maintenance program. Recently, modem and integrated monitoring systems have been introduced in most of the newly constructed long-span bridges since the design stage. This paper outlines the progresses and applications of monitoring systems in Korea for both existing and newly constructed bridges and describes their aims and characteristics.

  • The performance of automobile air conditioning systems of R1234yf was evaluated and compared with that of R134a. In particular, the performance evaluation was carried out by installing an internal heat exchanger in order to improve the performance of the system used in R1234yf. A performance comparison between the R1234yf and R134a for automotive air conditioning revealed that the cooling capacity and COP of the 1234yf system without the IHX decreased by up to 7% and 4.5%, respectively, but those with the IHX decreased by up to 1.8% and 2.9%, respectively.

  • The cause of crack on reinforced concrete structures is varied, while the studies, which have intended to analyze this in the material side, have been the mainstream so far. Therefore, in this study, we intended to suggest the proposals for enhancement of the system to reduce crack and to improve the quality of the reinforced concrete structures, by reviewing the cause of crack mainly in the structural aspect and analyzing the practices and the system. The result has been shown as following. (1) As one of the measures for improving the constructional system related to the structure, it is to enhance the relevant system so that design on construction, structure, and equipment, can be separately ordered or jointly ventured, and the owner or the agent of the owner can discuss and mediate the business in each specialized field. (2) Importance on construction supervision and new establishment of regulations related to structure supervision.

  • The first thing to be prioritized is to set the scope of the management system when establishing an information security management system for systematic and effective information security management. It is important to set the scope for an organization's information security goals due to the scope affects the organization's overall information security activities. If the scope is set incorrectly, it might become impossible to protect important services and therefore, the scope of the management system should be determined in consideration of the core business services of the organization. We propose a core service selection model based on the organization's mission-critical service and high risk service in order to determine the effective information security management system scope in this paper. Core service selection criteria include the type of service, contribution to sales, socio-economic impact, and linkage with other services.

  • Almost all injection molds have multi-cavity runner system for mass production, which are designed with geometrically balanced runner system in order to accomplish filling balance between cavity to cavity during processing. However, even though geometrically balanced runner is used, filling imbalance have been observed. Filling imbalance could be decreased by modifying processing conditions such as injections rate, mold temperature, injection pressure, melt temperature that are related to shear, viscosity. In this study, a series of experiment was conducted to investigate filling imbalance variation when modifying runner layout and ploymer and to determine which processing condition influences as the primary cause of filling imbalance in geometrically balanced runner system. The filling imbalance was desreased up to result range of $3{\leq}DFI{\leq}8(%)$ by using a new runner system for balanced filling.

  • In order to develop a confident sampling technique, we designed and constructed a 6-port manifold MFC sampling system for collecting gaseous pollutants in air. Using this instrumentation, we tested the performance criteria of MFC system in terms of: (1) flow rate; (2) MFC-to-MFC variability; (3) tube-to-tube variability; and (4) time. It was interesting to find that the later two factors did not show any significant variations, while the former two show substantially large variations. However, as most of those variabilities are consistent enough to form systematic patterns, we were able to explain the occurrence patterns of all those MFC biases in terms of those four major variables. The overall results of our experiment suggest that one needs to use correction factor for each MFC unit under a given flow rate to maintain optimal accuracy and precision for sampling of those pollutants.
