원자력용 개량 9Cr-1Mo 및 9Cr-0.5Mo-2W 강의 미세조직과 기계적 특성 연구 (A Study on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Modified 9Cr-1Mo and 9Cr-0.5Mo-2W Steels for nuclear Power Plant)

  • 액체금속로 전열관재료용 개량 9Cr-1Mo강의 특성에 미치는 텅스텐의 영향을 고찰하기 위하여 개량 9Cr-1Mo강에 텅스텐을 2wt.% 첨가하여 템퍼링 온도에 따른 기계적 특성 및 미세조직의 변화를 조사하였다. 미세조직을 관찰한 결과 템퍼링시 전위회복에 의해 형성되는 셀 구조가 나타나는 템퍼링 온도는 개량 9Cr-1Mo강의 경우 $700^{\circ}C$인 반면, 텅스텐을 첨가한 9Cr-0.5Mo-2W강의 경우는 $750^{\circ}C$이었으며, 이 결과로부터 텅스텐 첨가는 전위회복을 지연하였음을 알 수 있다. 텅스텐을 첨가하여도 템퍼링 온도에 따라 생성되는 석출물의 종류는 차이가 없었으나, 텅스텐을 첨가한 강에 있는 석출물에는 텅스텐이 포함되어 있었다. 텅스텐의 첨가로 경도값, 고온 인장강도 그리고 항복강도가 증가하였다. 이것은 텅스텐 첨가로 인한 미세구조의 안정화에 기인하는 것으로 보인다. 충격시험에서는 항복강도가 낮은 개량 9Cr-1Mo강이 더 우수한 충격파괴특성을 가졌다.

12% Cr 로터강의 강도 개선에 관한 연구 (Study on the Improvement of Strength for 12% Chromium Steel Rotor)

  • To check technical improvement in the soundness and strength of 12% Cr steel rotor, a 25 tons of rotor with 65 tons of ingot was made in real size and was cut to pieces to take test samples, and the various mechanical tests such as impact, tensile, creep, and fatigue were carried out. The strengths are compared with those of 1% Cr-Mo-V rotor of same size. Microstructures of the samples are examined and reviewed. The results can be summarized as follows. 1) Fracture appearance transition temperatures are 80.deg. C at the center part and 60.deg. C near surface of 12% Cr rotor, and 8.deg. C near surface of 1% Cr-Mo-V rotor. 2) Comparative rapid softening occurs at higher temperatures above 600.deg. C for 12% Cr steel and 550.deg. C for 1% Cr-Mo-V steel in tension tests. 3) Fatigue crack propagation rate of 12% Cr steel is almost same as that of 1% Cr-Mo-V steel at the same corresponding surface part of the rotors. The crack growth rate of center part of 12% Cr rotor is faster than near surface part of the rotor, and the crack growth rate at the load condition of R=0.04 is slower than that of the load condition of R=0.5 for both 12% Cr steel and 1% Cr-Mo-V steel. 4) Crack growth rate of radial direction near surface of 12% Cr rotor is faster than that of transverse direction at the same part because of the difference in residual stresses. 5) Both creep and fatigue strengths of 12% Cr steel are superior to those of 1% Cr-Mo-V steel and the difference is thought the effect of climb and glide controlled creep by solid solution of alloying elements and dispersion of carbides.

소형펀치-크리프 시험에 의한 9Cr1MoVNb강의 고온 크리프 특성 평가 연구 (A Study on Evaluation of High Temperature Creep Properties of 9Cr1MoVNb Steel by Small Punch-Creep test)

  • This paper describes the high temperature creep characteristics for virgin material of 9Cr1MoVNb steel using small punch creep(SP-Creep) test technique which is developing recently. In addition, the several results of SP-Creep test are compared with that of 2.25Cr- 1Mo steel which is widely used as boiler materials and that of conventional uniaxial creep test. The obtained SP-Creep curves show the creep behaviors of three regimes like that obtained from conventional uniaxial creep test, and SP-Creep properties are definitely depended on applied load and test temperature. The correlation of SP-Creep rate and creep rupture life with applied load has been determined like the correlation between creep rate/rupture life and stress in uniaxial creep test, and also is satisfied with Power law. The creep rupture times of newly 9Cr1MoVNb steel are higher than those of 2.25Cr1Mo steel at the same creep temperature and applied loading condition, and the decrease extent of creep rupture life with loads is very lower compared with 2.25Cr1Mo steel.

  • The Modified 9Cr-1Mo steel identified as T91, P91 and F91 in the ASME specification has been widely used for the construction of modern power plants. The available data on the influence of process parameters during manufacturing and fabrication on its properties are not sufficient. In this study, the influence of various thermal cycles on the hardness and the creep rupture strength was analyzed in the base metal and the weldments made in tube and pipe of a Mod.9Cr-1Mo steel. The low hardness, 155Hv, showed low creep rupture strength below the allowable stresses of T91 base metal in the ASME specification. This low value was attributed to the fully recovered dislocation structure and the weakening of precipitation hardening associated with the abnormal thermal cycles.

  • Spherical indentation technique was developed to evaluate the flow properties of metallic materials in carbon steel, stainless steel and alloys, etc. Through the spherical indentation test, differently degraded 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel's mechanical properties were observed and compared with conventional standard test data. The flow properties of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steels were estimated by analyzing the indentation load-depth curve. To characterize the flow property, we used material yield slope and constraint factor index rather than strain-hardening exponent because the variation of strain-hardening exponent was very little and the data showed irregularly. And the constraint factor's effect was small when the material yield slope was taken into account.

  • Due to the need of increasing thermal efficiency, supercritical pressure and temperature have been utilized in power plants. It is well known that 9Cr1Mo steel is suitable fer use in power plants operating at supercritical conditions. Therefore, to ensure the safety and the soundness of the power plant, creep characterization of the steel is important. In this study, the creep characterization of the gCr1Mo steel using small punch creep(SP-Creep) test has been described. The applied load and the central displacement of the specimen in SP-Creep test have been converted to bearing stress and strain of uc, respectively. The converted SP-Creep curves clearly showed the typical three-stage behavior of creep. The steady-state creep rate and the rupture time of the steel logarithmically changed with the bearing stress and satisfied the Power law relationship. Furthermore, the Larson-Miller parameter of the SP-Creep test agreed with that of the tensile creep test. From the comparison with low Cr-Mo steels, the creep characteristics of 9Cr1Mo steel proved to be superior. Thus, it can be confirmed that the 9Cr1Mo steel is suitable for supercritical power plant.

열화된 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V강의 DBTT 크기효과 보정에 관한 연구 (Normalization of DBTT Size Effect far Aged 1Cr-lMo-0.25V Steel)

  • Miniaturized specimen technology is useful to characterize the mechanical behavior when it is difficult to sample the material enough for the test. In this study, two kinds of miniaturized Charpy impact specimens(i.e., miniaturized specimen with side groove and without side groove) of aged 1Cr- lMo-0.25V steel were prepared and tested. The relationship between the extent of degradation in terms of ductile brittle transition temperature(DBTT) and the fracture stress of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel was established. The fracture stress obtained from miniaturized specimen without side groove turned out to be linearly related with the DBTT of standard specimen. Therefore the fracture toughness of aged turbine rotor steel might be evaluated by the fracture stress. In addition, the correlation between DBTT of standard specimen and that of miniaturized specimen was investigated. As the results of normalizing DBTT by maximum elastic tensile stress, the normalized DBTT of miniaturized specimen without side groove allows one to estimate that of standard specimen.

  • The thermomechanical control process(in hot rolling strip mill) was employed to produce 2.25Cr-1Mo steel, which is to be construction material for the steam generator for power plant. Although the Conventional processes has been the primary means of producing the 2.25Cr-1Mo steel, an alternative method was used to meet the specification of ASTM heat treatment for A387-22-Classl using autotempering after coiling in hot rolling strip mill. The microstructures, tensile properties at various temperatures, and creep-rupture properties have been investigated to compare the properties with those of materials produced by the conventional process and to certify the application of the thermomechanical control process to an actual process of manufacturing 2.25-Cr-1Mo steel, this in turn, will reduce the cost of the process. About 14 to 34% glanular bainite (remainder proetectoid ferrite) formed in a coil, and this variety of volume fraction stems from the different cooling rates, which varies with position of the coil after coiling. Tensile testing from room temperature to 700$^{\circ}C$ indicated that strength increases with test temperature showing peaks at around 600$^{\circ}C$. Creep-rupture properties have been being investigated at the temperature of 500$^{\circ}C$ with 27.5, 32kg/$\textrm{mm}^2$ loads and have showed no rupture for over 1000 hours.

Mod.9Cr-1Mo 강 구조의 크리프-피로 균열 거동 평가법 개발 (Development of Assessment Methodology on Creep-Fatigue Crack Behavior for a Grade 91 Steel Structure)

  • 본 연구에서는 프랑스의 RCC-MR A16 절차에 기초하여 Mod.9Cr-1Mo 강(ASME Grade 91) 구조의 크리프-피로 균열 개시 및 성장 평가법을 확장 개발하였다. 현재의 A16 지침은 오스테나이트 스테인리스강에 대해서만 크리프-피로 균열 개시 및 성장 평가법을 제시하고 있지만, 현재 초초임계(USC) 화력발전소는 물론 미래형 원자로 시스템의 구조재료로서 폭넓게 채택되고 있는 Mod.9Cr-1Mo 강에 대한 지침은 제시하지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 FMS(페리틱-마르텐사이트강)에 대한 크리프-피로 균열 개시 및 성장 평가법을 제시하고 있고, 구조물에 대한 크리프-피로 균열 거동 평가를 수행하였다. 평가결과는 구조시험을 수행한 결과 얻은 관찰 이미지와 비교하였다.
