열시효가 Mod.9Cr-1Mo강의 재료강도 및 파괴 거동에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Thermal Aging on Material Strength and Fracture Behavior in Mod.9Cr-1Mo Steel)

  • 발전소 내열강의 물성치는 고온 가동시간이 누적됨에 따라 열시효의 영향을 받는다. 본 연구에서는 제 4 세대 원자력시스템의 재료로 널리 채택되고 있는 Mod.9Cr-1Mo (ASME Grade 91)강을 대상으로 항복강도, 인장강도 및 파괴거동에 열시효가 미치는 영향에 대해 조사 및 분석하였다. 국내에서 가동 중인 초초임계(USC) 화력발전소의 배관계통에서 채취한, 73,716 시간의 가동 이력을 겪은 Gr.91 강 재료가 재료 실험을 위해 사용되었고, 동 시험결과와 가동 이력을 겪지 않은 신재의 시험결과를 비교 분석하였다. 또한 ASME 코드의 물성치와 RCC-MRx 의 물성치와 비교 분석하였고, 이들 설계기술기준 물성치의 보수성은 신재 및 가동 이력을 겪은 재료의 시험결과와 비교 분석을 통해 정량화하였다.

  • Power plant boiler is one of the most important utilities providing steam to turbine in thermal power plant. It is composed of thousands of boiler tubes for high efficient heat transfer. Boiler tube material is used in such high temperature and pressure as $540^{\circ}C$, $170kg/mm^2$. The boiler tube material is needed to resist corrosion damage, creep damage and fatigue damage. 2.25%Cr-1Mo steel is used for conventional boiler tubes. In these days steam temperature and pressure of the power plant became higher for high plant efficiency. So, the material property of boiler tube must be upgraded to meet the plant property. Several boiler tube material was developed to meet such condition. X20CrMoV12.1 steel is also developed in early 1980's and used for superheater and reheater tubes in supercritical boilers. The material has martensitic structure, which is difficult to evaluate the material degradation. Boiler tube material at severe condition was tested to evaluate long term and short term degradation and creep. Through long term and high temperature degradation test, lath structure was decreased and recrystallization has been proceeded by sub-crystal. And in this research the effect of temperature and stress on boiler tube characteristic,for example, deformation by creep was changed rapidly at relatively high temperature and stress because creep was affected easily by temperature and stress.

크리프-피로 손상된 페라이트기 9Cr 내열강의 미세조직 발달과 자기적 특성 (Microstructural Evolution and Magnetic Property of Creep-Fatigued Ferritic 9Cr Heat-Resisting Steel)

  • 보자력 측정을 통하여 페라이트기 9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb 내열강의 크리프-피로변형 동안 미세조직의 변화를 평가하였다. 크리프-피로시험은 $550\;^{\circ}C$에서 각각 인장유지시간을 60초와 600초로 하여 수행 하였다. 보자력은 파단 전까지 감소하였고 경도는 파단 시까지 지속적으로 감소하였다. 크리프-피로 수명소비율이 증가함에 따라서 $M_{23}C_6$ 탄화물은 오스트왈드 성장기구를 따라서 조대화가 나타났지만 MX 탄질화물은 $550\;^{\circ}C$에서 안정하기 때문에 조대화가 나타나지 않았다. 마르텐사이트 래스 폭은 래스경계에서의 전위회복으로 인해 증가하였다. 보자력은 전위, 석출물 그리고 마르텐사이트 래스경계와 같은 미세조직적 특성에 영향을 받게 되며 이를 미세조직변화와 관련하여 이해하였다. 결과적으로, 본 연구는 페라이트기 9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb 내열강의 크리프-피로변형 동안 미세조직의 변화와 손상 정도를 보자력을 통하여 평가하는 것을 제안하였다.

  • The high temperature fatigue tests were performed using the specimens taken from Cr-Mo-V steel, widely used as thermal power plant turbine materials for examination fatigue behavior of materials in power plants which have been operated for long periods. The fatigue tests at high temperature were performed at the various temperature and applied stress. The results obtained are summarized as follows : The fatigue crack length increases and the fatigue life decreases with temperature and applied stress according to the same number of stress cycle. The fatigue crack propagation and the fatigue life were much influenced by temperature and applied stress.

  • This study was performed to optimize friction welding conditions of Cr-Mo steel bars used for hydraulic of pneumatic valve spools and to realize the real-time evaluation of weld quality by acoustic emission method. SNCM220, SCM435, SCAM645, and SCM415 steel bars were tested to find optimum conditions of friction welding. Auantitative equations which exhibit the relations of tensile strength, elongation, reduction of area and energy absorption with friction heating time were obtained by the experiment. Acoustic emission was also performed in the friction weldig process, and the real-time evaluation was enabled to find the optimum range of weld strength. Finally, the strength and toughness of welded joints were interpreted by the sem analysis of tensile fracture surfaces.

Mod.9Cr1Mo강에서 발생되는 일시적 취성현상 (Temporal Brittleness of the Mod.9Cr-1Mo Steel)

  • It is well known that modified 9Cr-1Mo steel has a low thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity with excellent high temperature properties compared to austenitic stainless steel. For these advantages, the steel is very popular for the boiler tube of thermal power plants. Normalizing is commonly utilized to obtain martensite in this steel, which shows an unusual toughness for martensite. However, some accidents related to this steel have been reported recently, opening the necessity for further study. As a particular behavior of the steel, an abrupt drop of the impact value has been identified upon tempering at 750$^{\circ}C$ for about 1 hour. It is well known that $Fe_3C$ forms during autotempering and turns to $Cr_2C$ at an early stage and then transforms to $Cr_{23}C_6$. In this study, the cause of the abrupt drop of the impact value was investigated with an impact test, microstructural observation, nanodiffraction and phase analyses using instruments such as optical and transmission electron microscopes (TEM) with an extraction carbon replica of the carbides. The analyses revealed that the $M_2C$ that formed when retained for about 1 hour at 750$^{\circ}C$ causes a drastic decrease in the mechanical properties. The sharp drop in mechanical properties, however, disappeared as the $M_2C$ transformed into $M_{23}C_6$ with longer retention.

1Cr-0.5Mo 강의 재질열화가 프레팅 피로거동에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Degradation on the Fretting fatigue for 1Cr-0.5Mo Steel)

  • Fretting is a kind of surface degradation mechanism observed in mechanical components and structures. The fretting damage decreases in 50-70% of the plain fatigue strength. This may be observed in the fossil power plant and the nuclear power plant used in special environments and various loading conditions. The thermal degradation of material is observed when the heat resisting steel is exposed for long period time at the high temperature. In the present study, the degraded 1Cr-0.5Mo steel used for long period time at high temperature (about 515$^{\circ}C$) and artificially reheat-treated materials are prepared. These materials are used for evaluating an effect of thermal aging on the fretting fatigue behavior. Through the experiment, it is found that the fretting fatigue endurance limit of the reheat-treated 1Cr-0.5Mo steel decreased about 46% from the non-fretting fatigue endurance limit, while the fretting fatigue endurance limit of the degraded 1Cr-0.5Mo steel decreased about 53% from the non-fretting fatigue endurance limit. The maximum value of fatigue endurance limit difference is observed as 57%(244 MPa) between the fretting fatigue of degraded material and non-fretting fatigue of reheat-treated material. These results can be a basic data to a structural integrity evaluation of heat resisting steel considered to thermal degradation effect.

  • The influences of solidification rates and carbon contents on the formation of the $\delta$-ferrite were studied by directional solidification in modified 12%Cr-l %Mo steels. Directional solidification experimental results showed that solidification microstructure depended on solidification rate and carbon content and chromium equivalent. The length of the mushy zone increased and the dendrite arm spacings decreased as the solidification rate increased. The volume fraction of the 8-ferrite decreased with increasing the solidification rate and carbon content. The volume fraction of the ferrite showed much higher at low solidification rates with planar and cellular interfaces than that at high solidification rates with dendritic interface. It is expected that macro-segregation of C causes lower C content at the lower solidification fraction in the directionally solidified sample, where lower C results in higher volume fraction of the ferrite. In order to estimate solidification microstructure in modified 12Cr-l%Mo steels, various solidification conditions, such as solidification rate, cooling rate, segregation, alloy composition, should be considered.

시효열화시킨 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V 강의 고온화의 회전굽힘 피로강도에 관한 연구 (Rotated Bending Fatigue Strength in Aged 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V Steel at Elevated Temperature)

  • The estimation of the remaining life for the aged components in power plant as well as chemical and petroleum plants has been recently concerned. The raw materials used in this study are the 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel which intensified P and S compositions along with the nominal compositions of ASTM A 470 standard. Five kinds of specimens with the different degradation levels were prepared by isothermal aging heat treatment at 630.deg.C. The mechanical properties and rotated bending fatigue strength of virgin and aged 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel have been investigated through the hardness, tensile, fatigue test, SEM fractograph and EDS analysis at 538.deg.C and room temperature, respectively. Thus the data of aged specimens were compared with those of virgin specimen to evaluate the aging effects. The main results obtained in this study are as follows ; The decrease of the yield and tensile strength due to degradation was distinguished until 50, 000hrs simulated service time. And it was confirmed that the considerable amount of P, Mn, Cr and S was precipitated at the grain boundary of aged material through the SEM and EDS analysis. The rotated bendingd fatigue strength at 538.deg.C of virgin, 25, 000, 50, 000, 75, 000 and 100, 000 hrs aged material was decreased 44.6 %, 49.6 %, 51.5 %, 52.4% and 53.8% than that of virgin material at 10$_{7}$cycles of room temperature, respectively. The major cracks of virgin and aged materials mainly initiated at the inclusions including Si, P and Mn compositions which were located at the outer periphery of the specimen.n.

2 1/4 Cr-1Mo강의 작은 표면균열의 성장에 관한 기초적 연구 (A Basic Study on Growth Characteristics of the Small Surface Crack in 21/4 Cr-1 Mo Steel)

  • Fatigue tests by axial loading (R = 0.05) were carried out to investigate fatigue crack growth characteristics of small surface cracks in 2 1/4 Cr-1 Mo steel at room temperature by using flat specimens with a small artificial pit. All the data of the fatigue crack growth rate obtained in the present test are determined as a function of the stress intensity factor range about a semi-elliptical crack, so that the application of linear fracture mechanics to the surface fatigue crack growth and to the fatigue crack growth into depth, and all the data obtained from tests were discussed in comparison with the data of Type 304 stainless steel and two type of mild steel under the same test conditions. The obtained results are as follows: 1)When the cycle ratios are same, surface fatigue crack length and its depth are almost same and fall within a narrow scatter band in spite of different stress levels. 2)Relations of the surface fatigue crack growth rate (da/dN) and fatigue crack growth rate into depth (db/dN) to its stress intensity factor range ($\Delta K_{Ia}, \Delta K_{Ib}$) can be plotted as a straight line at log-log diagram without dependence of stress level and coincide with the data of part-through crack in various steels.
