  • The art plastique is the part from which designers draw their inspirations to create fashion design. Many designers look for their inspirations from Art Plastique. Since the early 20th century, lots of designers led by Paul Poiret drew their inspirations from Art and co-works with artists. The direct involvement of those artists helped to position Fashion to be an art. Also, these co-works brought the mass media's attention and commercial profit. The most prevalent relationship between the fashion design and art plastique is the reproduction of art such as the 1960s 'Pop Art printed on T-shirts, which can be seen easily todays. After World War ll, art was popularized in a new society where young generation played a major role. Pop Art having image of the freedom and the rejection of tradition was considered as the major trend of 1960s. This study considers reflection of anti-traditionalism, anti-elitism and popularity as the kitsch of Pop. That is the attraction which youth culture looked for from Pop Art and the reason that 60's avast-garde cloth could position itself into the masses. Therefore, this study examines the influence of the kitsch of Pop and the expression of parody upon the major changes in 1960s fashion from which are the mini-look and women's trousers wearing. This study examines Andra Courreges who led 1960s Mini look and Yves Saint Laurent who introduced Pop dress, Smoking look and transparent blouse to find the way which makes it possible for avant garde fashion to have a close relationship with the public and to position itself to be a art.

  • Materials from the 1960's such as pearl, glitter, paper, vinyl, and metal are being used identically in modern make-up, communicating various messages as creative works of art incorporating design-related factors of expression which are difficult to express generally, three-dimensional factors of decorative effects, and symbolic factors considering cultural aspects. The present study investigates the futurism apparent in 1960's fashion and art, and aims to observe how the materials used in 1960's futurism are expressed in modern make-up. This was performed by collecting and analyzing data, mostly from related thesis dissertations, fashion centered magazines, and internet sites. Results were analyzed in terms of a figurative perspective on the characteristics of futurist make-up, categorizing it into aspects of form, color, and texture, yielding the conclusion that modern make-up has been consummated as a form of creative art.

  • In this paper, the results of analyzing the meaning of laughter in comedy movies of the late 1960s, focusing on comedians, Hee-Gap Kim, Bong-Seo Koo and Young-Chun Seo, are as follows. First, the narrative laughter of the comedians represents the generational conflict between the lower class and the upper class, the gender conflict between men and women, and the frustration of reality. Second the mechanism of creating laughter of the comedians shows ridicule of the conservative older generation, revelation of the immoral upper class, and caricature of the frustrated lower class. Third, the practical aspect of the comedians' laughter reveals cracks in tradition and modern, gaps in economic inequality, and expression of prohibited desires. Therefore, comedians Hee-Gap Kim, Bong-Seo Koo and Young-Chun Seo in comedy movies of the late 1960s show the semantic effect of laughter of internal/external boundaries and optimistic world views through the closed opening of informal culture and the conflict of characters/performers.

  • The Conservation Decree of the Chosun Treasures Historic and Natural Monuments (hereinafter referred to as the Conservation Decree), which was enacted during the Japanese colonial period, was preserved in accordance with the provisions of article No. 100 of the constitutional law. However, legislative attempts were made to replace the Conservation Decree during the US military administration and early Korean Government. The first attempt was about the National Treasures Historic and Natural Monuments which were brought in by the Legislative Assembly of South Chosun (1947) during the US military administration. The second was a bill by the government for preservation of historical interests (1950), which was submitted to the National Assembly on March 15, 1950 (the so-called Preservation Act (1950)). These two bills were amended and supplemented on the basis of the existing contents of the Conservation Decree. Afterwards, from 1952 to 1960, the legislation of the Cultural Heritage Protection Act (1959) and the Cultural Heritage Bill (1960) were subsequently introduced and enacted. The government's attempt to enact such a cultural property bill was aimed at the legislature to replace the preservation order system that had been in effect since the Japanese colonial period. However, due to the political situation at the time, these laws did not reach final legislation. In October 1960, the government enacted the Regulations for the Preservation of Cultural Property, which was an administrative edict that was promulgated and enacted in November. This was the first official cultural property decree introduced by the Korean government. With the enactment and promulgation of the Cultural Heritage Protection Act in January 1962, Korea's judicial cultural property legislation was established, based on the Korean government's unremitting efforts and experience in legislation of cultural property. In that context, the Cultural Heritage Protection Act is a historical product. The Cultural Heritage Protection Act, which was enacted in 1962, is known to emulate or transplant Japan's Cultural Heritage Protection Act (1950). It was not fully recognized that it was an extension of the Korean government's legislative process of cultural property during the period of 1945-1960. Therefore, it is important to examine the legislative process of cultural property from 1945 to 1960 to understand the background of enacting the Cultural Heritage Protection Act in 1962 along with the establishment of the Korean Cultural Property Law.
