In this study, we fabricated the advanced telemetry system that transmitting media use radio frequency(RF) for the middle range measurement of the physiological signals and receiving media use optical for electromagnetic interference problem. The telemetry system within a size of 65$\times$125$\times$45mm consists of three parts: RF transmitter, optical receiver and physiological signal processing CMOS one chip. Advantages of proposed telemetry system is wireless middle range(50m) FM transmission, reduce electromagnetic interference to a minimum which enables a comfortable bed-side telemetry system. The monitoring system was designed in the structure of dual-processor for the real time processing. The use of the one channel in our study made it possible the real time wavelet transformation of electrocardiogram data of 360Hz, 16 bits for every 1.42 seconds.

In this paper we described the process and the results of real-time implementation of G.729.1 wideband speech codec which is standardized in SG15 of ITU-T. To apply the codec on ARM926EJ-S(R) processor core. we transformed some parts of the codec C program including basic operations and arithmetic functions into assembly language to operate the codec in real-time. G.729.1 is the standard wideband speech codec of ITU-T having variable bit rates of $8{\sim}32kbps$ and inputs quantized 16 bits PCM signal per sample at the rate of 8kHz or 16kHz sampling. This codec is interoperable with the G.729 and G.729A and the bandwidth extended wideband($50{\sim}7,000Hz$) version of existing narrowband($300{\sim}3,400Hz$) codec to enhance voice quality. The implemented G.729.1 wideband speech codec has the complexity of 31.2 MCPS for encoder and 22.8 MCPS for decoder and the execution time of the codec takes 11.5ms total on the target with 6.75ms and 4.76ms respectively. Also this codec was tested bit by bit exactly against all set of test vectors provided by ITU-T and passed all the test vectors. Besides the codec operated well on the Internet phone in real-time.

In this paper, a digital current mode control is designed for the power converter applications. The designed digital current mode controller is derived analytically from the continuous time small signal model of the power converters. Due to the small signal model based derivations of the control law, the designed control method can be applicable to boost, buck, and buck-boost converters. It is also proven that the controlled power converter employing the designed digital current mode controller is always stable regardless of an operating conditions. In order to show the usefulness of a designed controller, experiments are carried out using a 16bit DSP micro-processor, TMS320LF2406A.
CSIX-L1 is the Common Switch Interface that defines a physical interface for transferring information between a traffic manager (Network Processor) and a switching fabric in ATM, IP, MPLS, Ethernet and data communication areas. In Tx, data to be transmitted is generated in Cframe which is the base information unit and in Rx, original data is extracted from the received Cframe. CSIX-L1 suppots the 32, 64, 96, and 123-bit interface and generates a variable length CFrame and Idle Cframe. Also CSIX-L1 appends Padding byte and supports 16-bit Vertical parity, CSIX-L1 is designed using Xilinx 4,1i. After functional and timing simulations are completed. CSIX-L1 module is downloaded in Xilinx FPGA XCV1000EHQ240C and verified. The synthesized CSIX module operates at 27MHz.
AE64000 is the 64-bit high-performance microprocessor that ADC Co. Ltd. is developing for an embedded environment. It has a 5-stage pipeline and uses Havard architecture with a separated instruction and data caches. It also provides SIMD-like DSP and FP operation by enabling the 8/16/32/64-bit MAC operation on 64-bit registers. AE64000 processor implements the EISC ISA and uses the instruction folding mechanism (Instruction Folding Unit) that effectively deals with LERI instruction in EISC ISA. But this unit makes branch prediction behavior difficult. In this paper, we designs a branch predictor optimized for AE64000 Pipeline and develops a AES4000 simulator that has cycle-level precision to validate the performance of the designed branch predictor. We makes TAC(Target address cache) and BPT(branch prediction table) seperated for effective branch prediction and uses the BPT(removed indexed) that has no address tags.

Improving the speed of image processing is in great demand according to spread of high quality visual media or massive image applications such as 3D TV or movies, AR(Augmented reality). SIMD computer attached to a host computer can accelerate various image processing and massive data operations. MAMS is a multi-access memory system which is, along with multiple processing elements(PEs), adequate for establishing a high performance pipelined SIMD machine. MAMS supports simultaneous access to pq data elements within a horizontal, a vertical, or a block subarray with a constant interval in an arbitrary position in an $M{\times}N$ array of data elements, where the number of memory modules(MMs), m, is a prime number greater than pq. MAMS-PP4 is the first realization of the MAMS architecture, which consists of four PEs in a single chip and five MMs. This paper presents implementation of image processing algorithms and performance analysis for MAMS-PP16 which consists of 16 PEs with 17 MMs in an extension or the prior work, MAMS-PP4. The newly designed MAMS-PP16 has a 64 bit instruction format and application specific instruction set. The author develops a simulator of the MAMS-PP16 system, which implemented algorithms can be executed on. Performance analysis has done with this simulator executing implemented algorithms of processing images. The result of performance analysis verifies consistent response of MAMS-PP16 through the pyramid operation in image processing algorithms comparing with a Pentium-based serial processor. Executing the pyramid operation in MAMS-PP16 results in consistent response of processing time while randomly response time in a serial processor.

In this paper, a high-performance arithmetic unit which can efficiently accelerate a number of algorithms for multimedia application was designed. The 3-stage pipelined arithmetic unit can execute 38 operations for complex and fixed-point data by using efficient configuration for four 16-bit by 16-bit multipliers, new sign extension method for carry-save data, and correction constant scheme to eliminate sign-extension in compression operation of multiple partial multiplication results. The arithmetic unit has about 300-MHz operating frequency and about 37,000 gates on 45nm CMOS technology and its estimated performance is 300 MCOPS(Million Complex Operations Per Second). Because the arithmetic unit has high processing rate and supports a number of operations dedicated to various applications, it can be efficiently applicable to multimedia processors.

Improving operating frequency of processors is no longer today's issues; a multiprocessor technique which integrates many processors has received increasing attention. Currently, high-performance processors that integrate 64 or 128 cores are developing for large data processing over 2, 4, or 8 processor cores. This paper proposes an optimal many-core processor for synthesizing guitar sounds. Unlike the previous research in which a processing element (PE) was assigned to support one of guitar strings, this paper evaluates the impacts of mapping different numbers of PEs to one guitar string in terms of performance and both area and energy efficiencies using architectural and workload simulations. Experimental results show that the maximum area energy efficiencies were achieved at PEs=24 and 96, respectively, for synthesizing guitar sounds with sampling rate of 44.1kHz and 16-bit quantization. The synthesized sounds were very similar to original guitar sounds in their spectra. In addition, the proposed many-core processor was 1,235 and 22 times better than TI TMS320C6416 in area and energy efficiencies, respectively.

The speed control system of induction motor without speed sensor is proposed in this paper. The speed of induction motor is calculated by motor terminal voltages and currents. The equations for speed calculation are derived and they are implemented on 16bit micro-processor Mc68000. The software and hardware for the Mc 68000 is developed. To prove the validity of the proposed method, the calculated speed is compared with the measured speed. The maximum speed error is nearly 1% in the overall range. The proposed speed calculation method is applied to the Current Source Inverter(CSI) fed induction motor drive system. The experimental results show the good dynamics and the resonable speed control accuracy.
This paper focuses on the real time implementation of an adaptive multi-rate (AMR) speech codec, that is a standard speech codec of IMT-2000, using the TMS320VC5510. The series of TMS320VC55x is a 16-bit fixed-point digital signal processor (DSP) having low power consumption for the use of mobile communications by Texas Instruments (TI) corporation. After we analyze the AMR algorithm and source code as well as the structure and I/O of 7MS320VC55x, we carry out optimizing the programs for real time implementation. The implemented AMR speech codec uses 55.2 kbyte for the program memory and 98.3 kbyte for the data memory, and it requires 709,878 clocks, i.e. about 3.5 ms, for processing a frame of 20 ms speech signal.
