White button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) is the most widely consumed mushroom in the world, and domestic consumption is increasing owing to expansion of the westernized diet in recent years. Before 2000, most Korean mushroom farmers cultivated foreign varieties, but recently, Korean breeders are developing hybrid strains using molecular breeding tools. To produce a better mushroom cultivar, we evaluated some traits of button mushroom Agaricus bisporus strains. Mycelial growth rate at different culture temperatures was investigated by 25>20>15>30>$10^{\circ}C$. Recently developed domestic varieties had superior mycelial growth rate compared to the traditionally grown species. In particular, the ASI1338 strain showed excellent mycelial growth rate at different temperatures. Further, we confirmed that ASI1007, ASI1085, ASI1310, ASI1339 were strongly resistant to bacterial brown blotch, whereas ASI1053, ASI1103, ASI1140, ASI1146, ASI1177, ASI1183, ASI1195, ASI1321, ASI1331, ASI1336 were relatively weakly resistant. The average number of days for 16.5, and that for harvest was 5.7; the average yield was 142.7 g/2-kg bag. Mycelial growth rates at 10, 15, 20, $25^{\circ}C$ were similar, but that at $30^{\circ}C$ was lower. The mushroom yield was highly correlated with the number of days for pinheading and harvest.
Purpose: In this study, we investigated the better application of the law which is about the AED installation and more effective ways of emergency medical care system, to understand the law and to research the current condition of public facilities which belong to local governments, and to seize the aspect of safety guards who currently work in order to provide the installation of AED in the public facilities and to provide more efficient emergency medical service with the effectuation of the immunity law of the good intention of first-aid treatment. Methods: In Gwang-ju, 234 public facilities have been identified by 31 December, 2008. With the exception of the duplication, we researched 158 facilities and received the answers from 95 of them. Results: In the research, 53% of them have had internal emergency first-aid education, and 55% of them didn't have this education and a CPR education manual, and 30% of the facilities even didn't know how to connect with the manager of the company for the first-aid department. On the other hand, most of them were highly interested in CPR and AED education on the ratio of 91% and 93%. 88% of them have been trained about first-aid, 51% of them haven't been retrained, 17% have never been trained. so, the reality of emergency system at public facilities is serious. 78% of them knew they are working at public facilities, though 49% of them didn't know about AED installation. 57% of them didn't know the fact there is the immunity law related with good intentions for first-aid treatment. 63% of the facilities have security guards, and 30% of them didn't answer the questions. Also, many of them agreed to the opinion that all employees should have first-aid training. At representative survey report of participator of public-facility, emergency treatment is 61%, 16% of patients calling. Accordingly they importantly think better doing an on-site first-aid than evacuating the patient. And the rates show that 57% of them answerers tend to call Fire-Office(119) for evacuating the patients, and 28% of them EMIC(1339) for the first-aid. Conclusions: In this study, we are suggest to improve the details of the efficient operations and management after the grasp of the uninstallation, indifference, and unreliable conditions of AED. 1) Need a publicity of AED install cognition which is an emergency medical instrument at public facilities. 2) Arrangement of safety agents at facilities and concerns about them for good management from the parties concerned. 3) Need a designation of legal details according to the decision of the AED installation and the standard of the AED installation. 4) Training about first-aid of safety guards and the persons concerned in the facilities should be practiced participation with the positive and through this, first-aid treatment could be done by anyone who knows the immunity law related to medical emergency. 5) The brochures for the potential users and the results form practicing the instructions need to be improved in many ways through recording the emergency cases that have happened.
In order to produce environmental-friendly fermented compost, a cattle manure-sawdust compost (antifungal compost) was developed by inoculation of B. licheniformis KJ-9 to cattle manure-sawdust. The thermal stability of the antifungal substance produced by B. licheniformis KJ-9 maintained more than 60% antifungal activity with heat treatment at $100^{\circ}C$ for 10 min, and the optimum pH of antifungal activity of the substance was 7.0. In a pot experiment with red pepper, the antifungal compost increased 1.5~2 times in leaf number and stem and root growth rate compared to those of commercial compost. Also, the diameter of stems increased 1.5-3 times in the antifungal compost treated group. The amount of microbes increased markedly in soil supplemented with antifungal compost compared to the control. In the field experiment for cultivation of garlic and Perilla japonica, the growth of both crops was significantly enhanced in the field treated with antifungal compost as compared to the commercial compost.

In order to evaluate the effects of SIMNETONG, GANGJIYOUNSOODAN and CHUNGSIMJOKITANG(Xinnao-Tong, Jiangzhiyanshou-Dan and Qingxintiaoqi-Tang) on hyperlipidemia, the experimental study was performed in rats without or with hyperlipidemia induced by 2% cholesterol fed-diet or Triton WR-1339. And the levels of serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and phospholipid were measured. The results are summarized as follows : In the model of hyperlipidemia induced by 2% cholesterol Fed-diet 1. Both low & highly concentrated GANGJIYOUNSOODAN showed significantly decreasing effects on the level of serum total cholesterol while SIMNETONG & CHUNGSIMJOKlTANG didn't. 2. GANGJIYOUNSOODAN, SIMINETONG and CHUNGSIMJOKITANG showed decreasing effects on the level of serum triglyceride with no statistical significance. 3. Only highly concentrated GANGJIYOUNSOODAN showed increasing effects on the level of serum HDL-cholesterol while the others had no effects. 4. Only highly concentrated GANGJIYOUNSOODAN had decreasing effects on the level of serum LDL-cholesterol while the others had no effects. 5. Highly concentrated GANGJIYOUNSOODAN and CHUNGSIMJOKITANG showed significantly decreasing effects on the level of serum phospholipid while the other had no effects. In the model of hyperlipidemia induced by Triton WR-1339 6. SIMNETONG, GANGJIYOUNSOODAN and CHUNGSIMJOKITANG showed slightly decreasing effects on the levels of serum total cholesterol and triglyceride with no statistical significance. 7. None of SIMNETONG, GANGJIYOUNSOODAN and CHUNGSIMJOKITANG showed any effects on the level of serum HDL-cholesterol. 8. Highly concentrated GANGJIYOUNSOODAN and CHUNGSIMJOKITANG showed decreasing effects on the level of serum LDL-cholesterol but the other had no effects. 9. All of highly concentrated SIMNETONG, GANGJIYOUNSOODAN and CHUNGSIMJOKITANG showed decreasing effects on the level of serum phospholipid with statistical significance. These results show that GANGJIYOUNSOODAN and CHUNGSIMJOKITANG, in orders, have antihyperlipidemic effects. Further study on the mechanism and on the herb screening of these prescription should be followed.

In this paper, a nonlinear relationship between an input complex envelope and an output complex envelope of m-th harmonic zone is theoretically analyzed, and AM/$AM_m$ and AM/$PM_m$ are defined. A scheme to extract these characteristics from measured in-phase and quadrature-phase data is suggested. The proposed analysis is verified with a fundamental-fundamental and fundamental-third harmonic measurements for a InGaP power amplifier(PA). Based on the harmonic-band nonlinear analysis and extraction scheme, a new technique to send a signal in m-th harmonic band with a harmonic signal Linearization Digital Predistortion(DPD) scheme is presented. A numerical analysis and a Look-Up Table(LUT) based DPD algorithms to linearize output signal on m-th harmonic zone are developed. For a 16- and a 64-QAM input signals, a DPD for third harmonic signal linearization is implemented, and output spectrum and signal constellation are measured. The wholly distorted signals are linearized, and thus the measured Error Vector Magnitudes (EVM) are 6.4 % and 6.5 % respectively. The results show that a proposed scheme linearizes a nonlinearly distorted harmonic band signals. The proposed nonlinear analysis and predistortion scheme can be applied to multiband transmitter in next generation software defined radio(SDR)/cognitive radio(CR) wireless system.
An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of microbial phytase ($Natuphos^{(R)}$) supplementation in combination with carbohydrases (composed of enzymes targeted to soybean meal (SBM) dietary components such as $\alpha$-galactosides and galactomannans; $Endo-Power^{(R)}$) to corn-soybean meal based diet (CSD) and complex diet (CD) with a partial replacement of SBM with rape seed meal (RSM) and cotton seed meal (CSM) on growth performance and nutrient digestibility of growing pigs. A total of 168 growing pigs averaging $13.18{\pm}1.77kg$ of initial body weight was arranged as a $2{\times}2$ factorial design with main effects of diet types (corn-SBM based diet (CSD) and complex diets (CD; 5% of SBM was replaced with 2.5% of RSM and 2.5% of CSM in diet for phase I (0 to 3 weeks) and 6% of SBM was replaced with 3% of RSM and 3% of CSM in diet for phase II (4 to 7 weeks))) and enzyme supplementation (none and 0.1% of phytase (500 FTU/kg diet) and 0.1% of carbohydrases). The diet with enzyme application were formulated to have a 0.18% unit lower aP than diets without enzyme application. Each treatment had three replicates with 14 pigs per replicate. To determine supplementation effect of phytase and carbohydrases on ileal amino acid digestibility of SBM, RSM and CSM, a total of 18 T-cannulated pigs (initial body weight; $13.52{\pm}1.24kg$) were assigned to six dietary treatments in the present study. Dietary treatments in metabolic trial included 1) SBM diet, 2) SBM diet+with enzymes (phytase (500 FTU/kg) and carbohydrases at 0.1%, respectively), 3) CSM diet, 4) CSM diet+enzymes, 5) RSM diet and 6) RSM diet+enzymes. During whole experimental period (0 to 7 wks), there was no difference in growth performance between diets (CSD and CD). However, dietary phytase and carbohydrases supplementation significantly improved gain/feed ratio (G:F) of growing pigs. During the phase II (4-7 weeks), dietary phytase and carbohydrases supplementation significantly improved all fecal nutrient digestibilities (Dry matter (DM), gross energy (GE), crude protein (CP), crude fat (CF), calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P)). Dietary phytase and carbohydrases supplementation improved significantly overall ileal amino acid digestibilities of SBM, RSM and CSM based diets (p<0.05). The simultaneous inclusion of phytase and carbohydrases in both of CSD and CD reduced feed cost per kg body weight gain (FCG). Also, results suggest that 2.5 to 3% of RSM and CSM, respectively, might be used as a protein source in growing pig diets without having an adverse effect on the growth performance and nutrient digestibility and simultaneous phytase and carbohydrases addition improves nutritional value of SBM, RSM and CSM by improving ileal amino acid digestibilities.
The herb of Allium victorialis var. platyphyllum (Liliaceae) has been used as an edible wild herb and to treat heart failure and gastritis. We have already reported antihyperlipidemic anti-tumor effects of this plant. To enlarge the commercial availability of this food, it was investigated whether the extracts of A. victorialis var. platyphyllum reduce hyperlipidemia and obesity or not. The plants tested in this experiment were collected from two eco-types of Is. Ullung and Mt. Odae cultivated at Pyongchang. Extracts were prepared by extracting the fresh leaves and those dried at $36^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$, respectively. Pretreatment with the ethanolic extracts for two weeks(p.o.) reduced serum triglyceride-, total cholesterol- and LDL-cholesterol contents in rats induced by Triton WR-1339, respectively. Furthermore, oral administration of the extracts also inhibited the hyperlipidemia induced with oral diet of 30% corn oil. In the other attempt to find to alleviate the obesity, the model rats with obesity were induced by the high fat-diet for six weeks. Post-treatment with the extracts for two weeks significantly reduced the hyperlipidemia. Retroperitoneal-, epidymal- and total abdominal fat pad weights were considerably reduced at 100 mg/kg oral administration of the extracts. Increased feces lipid contents were also found in the rat treated with the extracts. The extract may lead to the higher activity in treatment of hyperlipidemia and obesity than of the dried one.

The aim of this study is to increase production of carotenoids in recombinant Escherichia coli by Archaea chaperonin. The carotenoids are a widely distributed class of structurally and functionally diverse yellow, orange, and red natural pigments. These pigments are synthesized in bacteria, algae, fungi, and plants, and have been widely used as a feed supplement from poultry rearing to aquaculture. Carotenoids also exhibit diverse biological properties, such as strong antioxidant and antitumor activities, and enhancement of immune responses. In the microbial world, carotenoids are present in both anoxygenic and oxygenic photosynthetic bacteria and algae and in many fungi. We have previously reported cloning and functional analysis of the carotenoid biosynthesis genes from Paracoccus haeundaensis. The carotenogenic gene cluster involved in astaxanthin production contained seven carotenogenic genes (crtE, crtB, crtI, crtY, crtZ, crtW and crtX genes) and recombinant Escherichia coli harboring seven carotenogenic genes from Paracoccus haeundaensis produced 400 μg/g dry cell weight (DCW) of astaxanthin. In order to increase production of astaxanthin, we have co-expressed chaperone genes (ApCpnA and ApCpnB) in recombinant Escherichia coli harboring the astaxanthin biosynthesis genes. This engineered Escherichia coli strain containing both chaperone gene and astaxanthin biosynthesis gene cluster produced 890 μg/g DCW of astaxanthin, resulting 2-fold increased production of astaxanthin.

This study discusses a remote control torch system equipped with a GMAW double wire reel. The welding machine is 30m away from the wire feeder at the industrial site and the feeder is three to five meters away from the torch. Accordingly, the welders cannot control the current and voltage that meets the welding condition during work when they are working at a place that prevents them from seeing the control panel, such as inside a vehicle or tank or at a far work site. They also have no choice but to stop working to change the wire reel when it is burned out completely. Such work suspension resulting from frequent moves to adjust the current and voltage as well as to replace the wire and subsequent cooling causes welding defects. This study produced a remote control torch equipped with a double wire reel by simplifying and streamlining the existing GMAW functions to reduce the troubling issue. The remote control torch equipped with a double wire reel and the existing $CO_2$ /MAG welding torch were applied as a V-groove butt in the vertical position using 6mm rolled steel for a SM50A welding structure. After welding, the condition of welded surface beads underwent a visual inspection and radiographic inspection to analyze the welding quality inside the welded part. This study also evaluated the reduction of welding defects, cost saving, the replacing performance against the existing commercial welders, and the effects on possible compatibility.

Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma is a rare tumor occurring in both bone and soft tissues and exhibits characteristic of a malignant nature. The authors experienced a case of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma occurring in a 23-year-old woman which had invaded the cervical spine. The patient presented with severe both shoulder pain, left upper extremity weakness(Grade IV) and paresthesia at admission. Radiologic studies of the cervial spine showed an aggressive osteolysis of C4 vertebral body, pedicle and lamina with compression of the spinal cord posteriorly on C3, C4, C5 levels. The tumor was totally removed by a combined anterior and posterior approach. The removed vertebral body was replaced with autogenous bone and stabilized by Codman locking plate symtem. The pathological examination showed characteristic of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma.previous symptoms well improved postoperatively. The authors present a case of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma with review of literature.
