Evaluation of Emulsion Stability for Cosmetic Facial Cream Emulsion Using Mixed Nonionic Emulsifier (비이온성 혼합유화제를 이용한 화장용 크림 유화액의 유화안정성 평가)

  • Emulsification is a fundamental process of cosmetics manufacture which produces stabilized emulsion by dispersing the liquid from the one side to the other by adding an emulsifier in an immiscible liquid. Various types of emulsifiers can produce various cosmetics. In this study, we evaluated the stability of emulsifier by measuring variations in the viscosity, particle size and particle size distribution. HLB values of nonionic emulsifiers which are used in this paper are 12.9, 12.9, 12.6 and 12.5 for EMU-01, EMU-02, EMU-03 and EMU-04, respectively. All types of emulsions showed an increase in the particle size and a decrease in the viscosity with the time. Also they showed a decrease in the particle size and an increase in the viscosity with respect to increasing the stirring speed. However, the stability of emulsions up to 56 days was secured by observing the non-separation of emulsions. In addition, the viscosity of the emulsions was measured in the order of EMU-01 > EMU-02 > EMU-03 > EMU-04 while the size of particles was measured in the order of $EMU-01{\approx}EMU-02$ > $EMU-03{\approx}EMU-04$. This indicates that our emulsion can be potentially used for preparing a cosmetic facial cream.

  • Ultraviolet (UV) induces photo aging, erythema, sunburn, photo-toxicity, photo-allergy, and skin tumor, To investigate photo-protective effects of AmorePacific Beauty-03 (APB-03; mixture of red ginseng extract powder and soybean extract powder) on UV-induced damaged skins, 40 SKH hairless female mice were orally administered APB-03 or saline five times a week and irradiated with UV three times per week far up to 12 weeks. Visible skin changes and skin damage in dermis and epidermis by replica image analysis and histological analysis. In APB-03-treated group, better skin, negative replica appearance and less wrinkle formation were observed compared to the UV control group. These results demonstrate oral administration of APB-03 have photo-protective effects on UV-damaged hairless mouse skin.

Microstructure and Dielectric Properties of (Ba1-xCax)(Ti0.85Zr0.12Sn0.03)O3 Ceramics ((Ba1-xCax)(Ti0.85Zr0.12Sn0.03)O3계 세라믹스의 미세구조 및 유전 특성)

  • In this study, in order to develop the capacitor composition ceramics with the good dielectric properties, $(Ba_{1-x}Ca_x)(Ti_{0.85}Zr_{0.12}Sn_{0.03})O_3$ (abbreviated as BCTZ) ceramics were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method. The effects of Ca substitution on the microstructure and dielectric properties was investigated. The X-ray diffraction patterns demonstrated that all the specimens showed perovskite phase, and secondary phases are indicated in the measurement range of X-ray diffraction. Also, all the specimens indicated an rhombohedron phase structure. It was identified from the X-ray diffraction patterns that the secondary phase formed in grain boundaries and then decreased the dielectric properties. For all the specimens, observed one peak was tetragonal cubic phase transition temperature($T_c$), which is located in the vicinity of room temperature.

Bioactive Effects of Domestic Cherry Tomatoes (국내산 방울토마토의 생리활성 효과)

  • This study was carried out to elucidate bioacive effects of three domestic cherry tomato cultivars. Total polyphenol and flavonoid of Summerking, Qutiquti, and Minichal cultivar were 12.56±1.88, 12.50±1.92, 11.65±1.85 mg/g and 4.58±1.03, 4.19±0.40, 4.30±0.49 mg/g(dry weight) respectively. Domestic cherry tomatoes showed antioxidative activity(DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities). All of the cherry tomatoes had no cytotoxicity for normal liver cell, but showed strong inhibitory effect against cervical cancer cell(HeLa) growth. These results revealed that domestic cherry tomatoes can be used as a bioactive food material.

  • Compositions of fatty acid and sterol of Hirneola auricula-Judge and Gyrophora esculenta produced is Korea were analyzed by gas liquid chromatographic(GLC) and infra red(IR) spectro-photometric techniques. As results, H. auricula showed linoleic acid 33.73, palmitic acid 15.52, stearic acid 5.03, oleic acid 16.03, linolenic acid 17.80, and unknown acid 11.89 % respectively, in their composition, while G. esculenta linoleic acid 46.35, palmitic acid 31.71, oleic acid 16.82, unknown acid 5.12 %, and trace of stearic and linolenic acids, respectively. Sterols were separated by thin layer chromatographic technique from both samples and identified by IR analysis. Two sterols, sitosterol and ergosterol, were present in both samples.

  • Into the precontaminated farm milk hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O$$_2$) was added at the concentrations ranging from 0.01% to 0.05% and kept at 3$0^{\circ}C$ for 16 hours with periodical determinations for viable counts, residual $H_2O$$_2$, and lactic acid. Under the tested conditions the initial level of contaminated bacteria could be arrested from growing at least for 8, 12, and 16 hours by treating the milk with 0.01, 0.02. and 0.03 per cent of $H_2O$$_2$, respectively. Furthermore, when the $H_2O$$_2$concentrations ware limited within the level of 0.03 Per cent the added $H_2O$$_2$was completely decomposed within 12 hours without the aid of external catalase and the decomposition time decreased in parallel with the $H_2O$$_2$ concentrations. A safer use of $H_2O$$_2$for preserving farm milk temporarily by limiting its concentration has been discussed.

축산물등급판정 시행성과

  • 축산물등급판정제도는 축산물 생산, 유통, 소비에 이르기까지 모두에게 도움을 주는 제도로서 정부에서 수입축산물의 파고를 넘기 위해 `93년도에 우리나라 최초로 축산물등급판정관련법적 근거를 마련하여 시행한 제도이다. 동 제도를 시행한 지도 벌써 10년이 훌쩍 넘어서고 있다. 등급판정 시행 초기에 한우 출하 생체중이 약 450kg 정도 이었던 것이 현재는 600kg이 넘어서고 있다. 등급판정기준 제정당시의 한우수소 거세율은 0$\%$에 가까웠으나, `03년 현재 수소의 거세율이 30$\%$를 육박하고 있고, 젖소 수소의 거세율은 `97년의 2$\%$에서 `04년도에는 78$\%$로 급격한 증가를 보여 등급제도시행에 따라 고급육생산의 기초를 다지는데 일조하고 있다. 돼지의 경우 `93년도의 출하 도체중(박피기준)이 65kg이었던 것이 `03년도에는 77.3kg에 이르렀고, 등지방두께 또한 4$\~$12mm가 `04년도에는 12$\~$22mm로 두꺼워 졌다. 계란등급판정은 `02년 12월 처음 시작하여 현재 9개소에서 월평균 850만개 판정하고 있다. 닭고기 등급판정은 `03년 4월 시작 이래 `04년 현재 4개소에서 월평균 13만수 정도 판정하고 있다. 이러한 등급판정 대상증가 및 물량확대는 소비자의 축산물에 대한 고급화 규격화 선호가 등급판정이후 꾸준하게 증가한 것에 기인한다.

  • In this study, in order to develop the capacitor composition ceramics with the good dielectric properties, $(Ba_{0.86}Ca_{0.14})(Ti_{0.85}Zr_{0.12}Sn_{0.03})O_3+xCuO$ (x= 0.006~0.010) ceramics were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method. The effects of CuO addition on the microstructure and dielectric properties was investigated. All specimens indicated rhombohedral phase without any secondary phase. As CuO addition increased, the variation width of TCC was increased at more than $40^{\circ}C$. Also, the specimen with x=0.007 sintered at $1,250^{\circ}C$ showed the high dielectric constant of 9,632 in spite of low temperature sintering temperature.

  • In this study, to develop low temperature sintering capacitor composition ceramics with the good dielectric properties, $(Ba_{0.86}Ca_{0.14})(Ti_{0.85}Zr_{0.12}Sn_{0.03})O_3$ (BCTZ) ceramics were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method. The effects of $B_2O_3$ addition on the dielectric properties and microstructure was investigated. The XRD patterns demonstrated that all the specimens showed Perovskite phase, and secondary phases are indicated in the measurement range of XRD. And also, temperature coefficient of capacitance(TCC) of all the specimen sintered at $1,180^{\circ}C$ showed +3~-56% except for x=0.006. For all the specimens, observed one peak was tetragonal cubic difuse phase transition temperature(Tc), which is located in the vicinity of room temperature.
