Job Satisfaction Improvement Ways of Fire Official - With a Focus on First-aid Staff - (소방공무원의 직무만족도 향상방안 - 구급대원을 중심으로 -)

  • The result of survey on job satisfaction of first-aid staff found that degree of work-related stress of 119 first-aid staff got total average 2.54 point (SD.44) out of 4. The degree of fatigue that first-aid staff feel got 2.09 point (SD.49) out of 4. The degree of job satisfaction of 119 first-aid staff got 2.71 point out of 5. This study suggests increasing of new hire, continuous education through teaching before employment, studying abroad, and so on, expansion and modernization of first-aid equipment, introduction and management of OAT institution for improvement of job satisfaction of first-aid staff.

  • This is for Criminal Law problem that can be happened during the rescue working of 119 rescue member. There are mainly 3sections can be Criminal Law Problem. At first, denying a rescue request. Second, thing that do not transfer patient or people need someone's help by their refusal. Third, emergency medical management. It can be criminal act if somebody do the 3sections thing under Law about emergency medical treatment. It also can be homicide under Criminal Law or accidental homicide, a charge of injuring a person if people need rescue die or become worse through the work. Rescuers are responsible for a criminal case by their carelessness and fault. A plan has to remain to protect them when they do violence to the life and health of a people inevitably. This paper examines the plan can protect them through the analysis and application of related Law about rescuer's work which can be Criminal Law Problem, presents rational establish plan of Rescuer Protect Law to make them their job well as a rescuer.

Prehospital Care of 119 EMT for Non-traumatic Cardiac Arrest and Improvement to Increase Advanced Care Rate (119 구급대원의 비외상성 심정지 환자의 병원전 처치실태 및 전문 처치율 향상을 위한 개선 방안)

  • This study aimed at evaluating and developing 119 emergency medical technicians' prehospital care for non-traumatic cardiac arrest. Total 322 EMT in Chungnam province and Daejeon city filled out the self-administered questionnaire. The data were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 for descriptive statistics. Among the 322 EMT, 309 (97%) and 169(53%) always or almost performed CPR and AED for nontraumatic cardiac arrest patient, respectively. Among the advanced EMT and nurse, IV were sometimes or not performed at 94.7% and medication including epinephrine which commonly used for survival of cardiac arrest were treated just at 9.3 % (14 person). The reason they did not perform each procedure for airway management, AED or IV was lack of manpower, limit of time or joggle of ambulance and legal restrictions. In conclusion, to increase survival rate of non-traumatic cardiac arrest in out-of-hospital, it is necessary to increase manpower, legal protection of EMS, establishment of standard operating procedure, practice for improvement technique and use of medication for ACLS.

The Effects of the senior staff's transformational and transactional leadership on life satisfaction for the 119 ambulance workers

  • This study analyzed 247 data surveyed on 119 ambulance workers 268 in a G-Do. The variance of the multiple regression model on the effect of independent variables on life satisfaction factors was statistically significant. And transformational leadership is an independent variable that significantly affects life satisfaction factors. However, there is a slight difference in the perception of transactional satisfaction factors (p=.051) was not statistically significant, so the second research question raised in this study was rejected. Based on the results of this study, transformational leadership should be centered on improving 119 paramedics' life satisfaction in the relationship between the direct effects of leadership variables related to 119 paramedics' life satisfaction. By doing so, 119 paramedics' life satisfaction will increase and the ultimate improvement in the quality of first aid at the emergency site will be achieved by providing a foothold to demonstrate the potential capabilities of 119 paramedics. In addition, 119 paramedics need to recognize and promote the importance of life satisfaction recognized in their daily lives and workplaces, creating an environment that can demonstrate transformative leadership by carefully caring for 119 center heads, team leaders, and field seniors.

Musculoskeletal Diseases in 119 Rescuers (119구급대원 구급활동에 따른 근골격계 질환 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the prevalence and to describe the correlation between the working period and musculoskeletal diseases of 119 rescuers. We conducted 485 surveys from 547 rescuers working in Gyeonggi-do from November 5 to December 20, 2011. The collected data were analyzed by cross tabulation analysis, chi-square test, and correlation analysis using PASW 18.0. The p value was set at p<.05. The prevalence of musculoskeletal diseases, 328(67.6%) rescuers suffering from musculoskeletal diseases. General characteristics included gender(p<.01), age(p<.01), marriage(p<.001),household chores(p<.05), working period(p<.001). The correlation between physical loading of subjects and musculoskeletal diseases was significant(p<.001). The rescuers felt the pain at lower back(36.4%), shoulders(19.2%), neck(14.9%), hip/ankles(13.2%), hand/wrist/fingers(12.0%), elbow(4.3%). This study showed that working period and physical loading affect musculoskeletal diseases.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of job-stress factors associated with fatigue among emergency rescue workers. A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 264 rescue workers in J province from January 5 to March 14, 2015. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics about the subjects, health-related characteristics, a job stress instrument, and a subjective fatigue instrument. The results were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis to determine the factors related to fatigue. Fatigue was influenced by the personal characteristics of the rescue workers and job stress. To reduce fatigue, effort to manage and relieve stress is required after a job is done in the field. In addition, it is expected that fatigue can be reduced by providing methods that can improve the healthcare capacity of the rescue workers.

  • This study examined the influence of the quality of work life on the organizational effectiveness and customer orientation in 119 paramedics. This study also offers basic data for improving the quality of emergency medical services in the future. A survey was conducted from February 3. 2019 through May 7, 2019, on 308 male and female fire officers in Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0 version, and frequency analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were carried out. First, there was a positive correlation among the QWL of the 119 paramedics, their OE and CO. Second, the QWL (personal, management dimension) of the 119 paramedic's was a factor that affected OE and job satisfaction. Third, the QWL (personal, management dimension) of the 119 paramedics had an impact on the CO. (ED note: please check all this and it was not clear. It may be correct now.)Forth, the impact of the OE of the 119 paramedics on the CO exerted a significant influence on the OE and job satisfaction. Given the findings of the study, the QWL of 119 paramedics should be improved to heighten paramedics' welfare to promote the quality of emergency medical services.

Influence of Education and Knowledge Levels of Stroke Patients on Level of Subjective Perception in 119 Emergency Medical Technicians (119구급대원들의 뇌졸중 환자에 대한 교육 및 지식수준이 주관적 인식수준에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the effect of 119 emergency medical technicians' education over one year on the stroke knowledge and subjective perception of stroke care. A survey was conducted from February 17 through July 31, 2018, on 196 men and women who worked as 119 emergency medical technicians in G-do, C-do, and the provinces. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS 20.0 version for Windows. The findings of the study were as follows. First, the general characteristics of the 119 emergency medical technicians were found to have affected their stroke education and their need for professional education, awareness levels of knowledge concerning stroke and their subjective awareness levels of stroke patient care. Second, one-year education for the 119 emergency medical technicians was found to have impacted on their stroke knowledge and subjective awareness levels concerning care for stroke patients. Third, the knowledge of the 119 emergency medical technicians on stroke was found to have influenced their subjective awareness levels of stroke patient care. Therefore, the results suggested that regular education and proper management to improve their knowledge on stroke and subjective awareness.

Correlation between Violence, Burn-out, and Self-esteem of 119 Rescue workers (119구급대원의 폭력경험과 소진 및 자아존중감 간의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate on violence, burn-out, self-esteem of 119 rescue workers to prevent violence damage. This research design is correlation study. Data of 416 rescue workers were collected from March 10 to March 31, 2010. Data were analyzed using the SPSS Win 15.0 program. There was no a statistical significant between general characteristics of 119 rescue workers and violence. But there were statistical significant in age, marital status, certification, monthly income, work experience, position between general characteristics and burn-out, and self-esteem respectively(p<.05). Violence was positively related to burn-out and burn-out was negatively associated with self-esteem(p<.005). We need special precaution to prevent violence at the national level.

  • The regulation on organization and operation of rescue and aid party was amended. This Regulation is designed to provide legal formality in order to protect not only the patients' right but also 119 rescuers from liability, which is due to treatment refusal by patient and the discretionary refusal of transfer by 119 rescuers on the non-emergency situation. This study looked over the constitute of violation of emergency medical service act related to the discretionary refusal of 119 rescuers, the criminal liability owing to omission and the possibility of national indemnities on the damage of patients. This study also analyzed the courts' decision and attitude by exploring overseas judicial precedents and examined what should be considered on the execution of the newly enacted law. Finally, this study put emphasis on the importance of medical director's control, documentation of every procedure, 119 rescuer's authorization on the refusal of transfer by securing patient's informed consent.
