Development of Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Drought Using Mass Moment (질량모멘트를 이용한 가뭄의 시공간적 특성 분석 방법 개발)

  • 가뭄은 홍수와는 달라서 정확한 발생시점, 지속시간, 피해반경 등을 정의하기 어렵다. 가뭄은 가뭄지수를 통해서 정의되며 정해진 지속시간에 따라서 가뭄의 특성을 평가하는 것이 일반적이다. 이러한 가뭄의 심도를 평가하기 위해서 많이 사용되는 지수로 표준강수지수(standardized precipitation index)가 있다. 본 연구에서는 6개월 지속시간에 SPI 지수를 대상으로 연구를 수행하였다. 최근 가뭄연구에서 시공간적 거동을 평가하는 연구가 중요한 연구주제로 자리 잡고 있다. 가뭄은 홍수와는 달리 공간적으로 전이되는 특성을 가지고 있어서 가뭄의 시작점과 영역반경을 평가하는 것은 가뭄을 예측하는데 있어서 기본적으로 선결되어야 한다. 그러나 상대적으로 가뭄의 시공간적 분석 연구는 많이 진행되지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 질량모멘트 개념을 도입하여 가뭄의 중심과 영역을 평가하는 기법을 개발하였다. 가뭄의 중심(centroid)은 1차모멘트를 통해서 추정되며 가뭄의 영역은 2차모멘트 즉, x방향의 공분산, y방향의 공분산, xy의 공분산을 통해서 타원(ellipse)형태로 수치적 접근이 가능하다. 다음 그림과 같이 가뭄의 중심을 1차모멘트로 추정하게 되면 +형태로 표시될 수 있으며 분산을 타원체로 표현하여 가뭄의 영역을 정의할 수 있다. 1, 2차모멘트를 추정하는데 있어서 Threshold 로 -2.0 이하의 값만을 이용하였으며 각 격자별 SPI 강도를 가중인자로 이용하였다. 그림과 같이 가뭄이 서해안에서 시작되어 시간에 따라 중동부로 퍼져나가는 것을 정량적으로 확인할 수 있다. 본 모형을 통해서 추출된 1, 2차 모멘트 정보를 활용하여 가뭄의 특성을 범주화하고 이를 기상학적 특성과 연결시키면 기상특성을 고려한 가뭄 예측모형으로의 개발도 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Numerical Analysis for Advection Equation Based on the Method of Moments (모멘트법에 의한 이송방정식의 수치해석)

  • The method of moments, a Lagrangian scheme, considers the zeroth, first, and second moments of the grid cell spatial distributions of the concentration and then advects the concentration by maintaining conservation of the moments. The reasonable inital description of the first and second moments as well as the mean concentration, the zeroth moments, in grid element is important in the method of moments. In this study, the description methods of each initial moment are reviewed, and the method of moments is extended to overcome the restrictions of Courant number. Its performance is compared with those of available Eulerian and Lagrangian schemes. As the results, the method is successfully extended to overcome the stability restriction and is an accurate scheme for the advection simulation of concentration distribution, especially of which the gradient is steep. In addition, the method is very promising scheme in terms of computational efficiency when the mixing is confined in a relatively small region to the entire domain in two-dimensional problem.

Analysis of Higher Temporal Moments for Breakthrough Curves of Volatile Organic Compounds in Unsaturated Soil (불포화 토양에서 유동하는 가스상 Volatile Organic Compounds의 출현곡선에 대한 고차 Temporal Moment의 분석)

  • Understanding the behavior of gas phase VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in unsaturated soils is of a great environmental importance for public health concerns. Moment analysis for the breakthrough curves (BTCs) during transport of chemicals in porous media was known to be a useful tool to evaluate the velocity, spreadness, and the skewness of the plume of the chemicals. In this study, the temporal moments of the BTCs of a group of VOCs were analyzed for the gaseous transport in an unsaturated soil. BTCs were measured using lab-scale column experiments for four different VOCs at the water saturation range of 0.04-0.46, and for eleven VOCs at a water saturation of 0.21. The central second and third moments of the VOCs were compared with the water saturation and the first moment. It was found that both central second and third moments increased with the first moment. The central third moment was, however, found to be more sensitive to the first moment.

Detection of Main Components of Heart Sound Using Third Moment Characteristics of PCG Envelope (심음 포락선의 3차 모멘트를 이용한 심음의 주성분 검출)

  • To diagnose the cardiac valve abnormalities using analysis of phonocardiogram, first of all, accurate detection of S1, S2 components is needed for heart sound segmentation. In this paper, a new method that uses the third moment characteristics of an envelope of the PCG is proposed for accurate detection of S1 and S2 components of the heart sound with cardiac murmurs. The envelope of the PCG is obtained from the short-time energy profile, and its third moment profile with slope information is used for accurate time gating of the S1, S2 components. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method is superior to the conventional second moment method for detection of S1 and S2 regions from the heart sound signals with cardiac murmurs.

SCS Curve Number and temporal Variation of Rainfall (강우의 시간분포를 고려한 CN값 산정)

  • A relation between the temporal variation of rainfall and direct runoff was characterized using temporal indexes of rainfall(1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th moment). Curve Number has a relation with 1st and 2nd moment for AMCIII condition when the rainfall duration is relative (10th quantile). Also peak runoff ratio(QP/Q) has a relation with 1st and End moment for AMCIII condition as well as 3rd and 4th moment for AMC I condition. Considering all durations of rainfall, alternatively, Curve Number has a relation with 1st and 2nd moment for AMCIIIcondition besides every moments for AMC I condition. But peak runoff ratio(QP/Q) has few relations excepting 3rd and 4th moment for AMC I condition. As a results, temporal indexes of rainfall are useful to determine curve numbers regarding the temporal variation of rainfall.

  • 본 연구에서는 레이더 강수량 자료를 대상으로 예측모형을 구축하기에 앞서서 강수장이 가지는 특징을 활용한 Tracking 기법을 개발하고자 한다. Tracking 기법이라 함은 시간에 따라 움직이는 강수장을 추적하는 개념이다. 최근에 태풍, Hurricane 등의 경로를 추정하기 위한 방법으로 국외를 중심으로 연구가 시작되고 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 방법론은 모멘트 개념을 중심으로 강수장으로부터 1차모멘트와 2차모멘트를 추정함으로써 강수장의 중심, 강수장의 이동 방향, 강수장의 폭 등 다양한 정보를 유도할 수 있다. 일단 이러한 정보들이 유도되면 이를 통해 강수장의 특성을 범주화 시킬 수 있으며 이를 예측 모델과 연결시킬 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 격자형태의 레이더강수량으로부터 1, 2차모멘트를 추정하기 위한 식은 다음과 같다. 모멘트 추정을 통해 총 5 개의 속성을 추출할 수 있다. 즉, 위경도상의 도심과 방향의 공분산, y방향의 공분산, xy의 공분산 등을 이용하여 다음 그림과 같이 강수의 중심과 강수장의 형태를 수치적으로 추정할 수 있다. 강수장의 형태는 공분산으로부터 추정하여 타원체로 나타내었다. 이러한 과정을 통해 강수장의 중심과 모양의 Tracking이 가능하며 이를 활용한 예측모형의 개발이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

  • The moment analysis of lysozyme was implemented using chromatograms that were obtained from weak cation exchange column in high performance liquid chromatography system. Three elution sodium phosphate buffers containing 1.0, 0.75, 0.5M sodium chloride were used. Experiments were conducted by varying flow rate, elution sodium chloride concentration, and lysozyme solute concentration. The general rate (GR) model was employed to calculate the first moment and the second moment. By plotting $L/u_0$ vs. $({\mu}_1-t_0)/(1-{\varepsilon}_e)(1-{\varepsilon}_i)$] equilibrium constants (K) were obtained from first moment analysis. Intra-particle diffusivity was obtained from theoretical plate number data. Based on the results of moment analysis, van Deemter plots were drawn in order to investigate the contributions of $H_{ax}$, $H_f$, and $H_d$ to total Height Equivalent to a Theoretical Plate (HETP, $H_{total}$). The effect of intra-particle diffusion ($H_d$) was the most dominant factor contributing to HETP while external mass transfer ($H_f$) was negligible factor.

  • 본 논문에서는 영상의 1차 모멘트와 주요성분분석을 이용한 효율적인 얼굴표정 인식방법을 제안하였다. 여기서 1차 모멘트는 영상의 중심이동을 위한 전처리 과정으로 인식에 불필요한 배경의 배제와 계산시간의 감소로 인식성능을 개선하기 위함이다. 또한 주요성분분석은 얼굴표정의 특징인 고유영상을 추출하는 것으로, 이는 2차의 통계성을 고려한 중복신호의 제거로 인식성능을 개선하기 위함이다. 제안된 방법을 각각 320*243 픽셀의 48개(4명*6장*2그룹) 얼굴표정을 대상으로 Euclidean 분류척도를 이용하여 실험한 결과 전처리를 수행하지 않는 기존 방법보다 우수한 인식성능이 있음을 확인하였다.

Effective Moment of Inertia of Flexural Members Based on the Concrete Stress-Strain Curve in EC-2 (EC-2의 콘크리트 응력-변형률 곡선에 기반한 휨부재의 유효단면2차모멘트)

  • The present study shows the moment-average curvature relationship and effective inertia moment of RC beams obtained from the nonlinear analysis based on the parabola-rectangular stress-strain curve defined in EC-2 code. The variables examined are concrete strength and steel ratio, and moment-average curvature relationship and effective inertia moment obtained are compared with those of the current KCI provisions. As the results of the comparison, the followings could be said: Since the KCI provisions(the Branson method) were originally derived based on the experimental data ranged from 2.2 to 4 of $M/M_{cr}$ and 1.3 to 3.5 of $I_{ut}/I_{cr}$, thereby within these ranges the inertia moments obtained from the nonlinear analysis are closely agreed with those predicted by the Branson method. However, beyond those range the remarkable difference could be found between the two results. In particular, for beams having low steel ratio the inertia moment resulted from the nonlinear analysis are significantly smaller than those obtained from the KCI(Branson) method. This result may imply that the deflection of lightly reinforced members, such as slabs in buildings, becomes much larger than those calculated according to the current design provisions.

Evaluation of Structural Behavior and Moment of Inertia on Modular Slabs Subjected to Cyclic Loading (반복하중을 받는 모듈러 슬래브의 거동 및 단면2차모멘트 평가)

  • Recently, the maintenance activity for aging of bridge structures was difficult because of traffic jam, environment pollution and increasing cost. And to solve these problems, modular bridge research has been studied. After static and cyclic loading test was conducted for serviceability and bending performance with one way slab, effective moment of inertia of modular specimen was analyzed to estimate the deflection by KCI(2012). To conduct the test, one integral slab and three modular slabs were made for static loading and one integral and modular slab were made for cyclic. As a result of the test, the modular slab had the similar bending performance of the integral. But the ultimate deflection showed the insufficient which was smaller than 20%. In the cyclic loading test, the modular slab has different behavior of deflection with the integral, so it was evaluated difficult for serviceability. In addition, effective moment of inertia by KCI(2012) was not estimated for modular slab with connection. The new value of m which was ratio between moments is 4.53 based on result of test for predicting deflection of modular.
