Illumination Estimation Based on Nonnegative Matrix Factorization with Dominant Chromaticity Analysis (주색도 분석을 적용한 비음수 행렬 분해 기반의 광원 추정)

  • Human visual system has chromatic adaptation to determine the color of an object regardless of illumination, whereas digital camera records illumination and reflectance together, giving the color appearance of the scene varied under different illumination. NMFsc(nonnegative matrix factorization with sparseness constraint) was recently introduced to estimate original object color by using sparseness constraint. In NMFsc, low sparseness constraint is used to estimate illumination and high sparseness constraint is used to estimate reflectance. However, NMFsc has an illumination estimation error for images with large uniform area, which is considered as dominant chromaticity. To overcome the defects of NMFsc, illumination estimation via nonnegative matrix factorization with dominant chromaticity image is proposed. First, image is converted to chromaticity color space and analyzed by chromaticity histogram. Chromaticity histogram segments the original image into similar chromaticity images. A segmented region with the lowest standard deviation is determined as dominant chromaticity region. Next, dominant chromaticity is removed in the original image. Then, illumination estimation using nonnegative matrix factorization is performed on the image without dominant chromaticity. To evaluate the proposed method, experimental results are analyzed by average angular error in the real world dataset and it has shown that the proposed method with 5.5 average angular error achieve better illuminant estimation over the previous method with 5.7 average angular error.

  • Nowadays, automotive manufacturers have developed various technologies to improve fuel economy and reduce harmful emissions. The ultra-lean direct injection engine is a promising technology because it has the advantage of improving thermal efficiency through the deliberate control of fuel and ignition. This study aims to investigate the development of a spray-guided-type lean-burn LPG direct injection engine through the redesign of the combustion system. This engine uses a central-injection-type cylinder head in which the injector is installed adjacent to the spark plug. Fuel consumption and combustion stability were estimated depending on the ignition timing and injection timing at various air-fuel ratios. The optimal injection timing and ignition timing were based on the best fuel consumption and combustion stability.

  • 내경 0.1 m, 높이 5.3 m 의 순환유동층 반응기를 사용하여 기체의 역혼합특성을 조사하였다. 기체의 역혼합은 동일한 기상유속일때 고체순환속도가 증가할수록 증가하였다. 희박상영역에서 일정한 고체체류량에서는 기상유속이 증가할수록 벽면에서의 하강흐름도 증가되어 기체의 역혼합은 증가되었다. Tracer 주입위치가 반응기 벽면에서 중심으로 이동할수록 빠른 기체와 고체의 흐름으로 인하여 기체의 역혼합은 상당히 감소하였다. 그리고, 희박상영역에서 core-annulus 구조를 기초로 하여 기체역혼합과 core 와 annulus 간의 물질전달계수를 예측할 수 있는 모델식을 제안하였다.

  • 메탄올이 자동차 연료로서 유망시 되고 있는 이유는 공급면과 이용면의 두 측면에서 장점을 가지고 있기 때문일 것이다. 공급면에 있어서는 원료가 천연가스나 석탄등 자원이 풍부하다는 점이 다른 연료에 비해 유리하며 특히 천연가스로 부터의 화학용 메탄올 제조기술이 거의 확립되어 있다는 점이다. 이용면에 있어서는 상온에서 운송, 저장 및 유량 제어 측면에서 취급이 비교적 용이하며 메탄올 연료의 특성상 옥탄가가 높고 희박연소한계가 넓어 고압축비 희박연소기관을 실현할 수 있으며, NOx나 매연 발생이 적은 저공해 연료인 점이 장점이다. 본 고에서는 본인의 실험실에서 이루어진 메탄올 연료에 대한 몇가지 실험결과들을 토대로 하여 메탄올 기관에 있어서의 일반적인 특성 및 문제점들에 대하여 소개하고자 한다.

A Chemical Reactor Modeling for Prediction of NO Formation of Methane-Air Lean Premixed Combustion in Jet Stirred Reactor (제트 혼합 반응기 내 희박 예혼합 메탄-공기 연소의 NO 생성 예측을 위한 화학 반응기 모델링)

  • A chemical reactor model (CRM) was developed for a jet stirred reactor (JSR) to predict the emission of exhaust such as NOx. In this study, a two-PSR model was chosen as the chemical reactor model for the JSR. The predictions of NO formation in lean premixed methane-air combustion in the JSR were carried out by using CHEMKIN and GRI 3.0 methane-air combustion mechanism which include the four NO formation mechanisms. The calculated results were compared with Rutar's experimental data for the validation of the model. The effects of important parameters on NO formation and the contributions of the four NO pathways were investigated. In the flame region, the major pathway is the prompt mechanism, and in the post flame region, the major pathway is the Zelodovich mechanism. Under the lean premixed condition, the N2O mechanism is the important pathway in both flame and postflame regions.

Measurement of Carbon Nanotube Agglomerates Size and Shape in Dilute Phase of a Fluidized Bed (유동층 반응기 희박상 내 탄소나노튜브 응집체의 크기 및 형상 측정)

  • Size and shape of carbon nanotube (CNT) agglomerates in the dilute phase of a bubbling fluidized bed ($0.15m\;i.d{\times}2.6m\;high$) have been determined by the laser sheet technique. Axial solid holdup distribution of the CNT particles showed S curve with dense phase and dilute phase in bubbling fluidization regime. Heywood diameter and Feret diameter of the CNT agglomerates in the dilute phase of bubbling fluidized bed increased with increasing gas velocity. The CNT particle number in the agglomerates increased with increasing of gas velocity. Aspect ratio increased and circularity, roundness and solidity decreased with increasing of gas velocity. A possible mechanism of agglomerates formation was proposed based on the obtained information.

  • In order to meet the enforced emission regulations and reduce fuel consumption, various new technologies are employed in engines. The problem of NOx emissions under a lean mixture condition should be solved, because a lean-burn direct-injection engine can realize stable lean combustion with a stratified mixture, which results in improvements in fuel economy and emissions. This study investigated the effects of intake and exhaust valve timing changes on the performance and emission characteristics of a lean-burn LPG direct-injection engine. Under a partial-load operating condition without throttling, an increase in the intake valve opening led to an increase in NOx emissions due to an increase in the amount of excess air. The fuel consumption deteriorated with an increase in the exhaust valve opening due to a decrease in the expansion work and an increase in the pumping loss.

A Movie Recommendation Method Using Rating Difference Between Items (항목 간 선호도 차이를 이용한 영화 추천 방법)

  • User-based and item-based method have been developed as the solutions of the movie recommendation problem. However, these methods are faced with the sparsity problem and the problem of not reflecting user's rating respectively. In order to solve these problems, there is a research on the combination of the two methods using the concept of similarity. In reality, it is not free from the problem of sparsity, since it has a lot of parameters to be calculated. In this study, we propose a recommendation method using rating difference between items in order to complement this problem. This method is relatively free from the problem of sparsity, since it has less parameters to be calculated. And it can get more accurate results by reflecting the users rating to calculate the parameters. In experiments for the proposed method, the initial error is large, but the performance has been quickly stabilized after. In addition, it showed a 0.0538 lower average error compared to the existing method using similarity.
