Investigation on the spectroscopic characteristics for Pu oxidation state in acid and alkali medium (산 및 알칼리 매질에서 Pu 산화수에 대한 분광학적 특성 조사)

  • The absorption spectra of Pu in stock solution were measured using a UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer after dissolving $PuO_2\;with\;HNO_3$, HF and $HClO_4$. The spectroscopic characteristics of Pu (III, IV, VI) in acidic, neutral and alkali media were investigated. Also, the intensities and position of major peaks for Pu(VI) were observed with increasing acidic and alkali concentration. The variation of oxidation states of Pu(VI) with an adding reducing reactant was investigated in HCl and NaOH medium.

  • FTIR technique was applied to delineate spectroscopic characteristics of natural, synthetic and irradiated diamonds. All of the samples studied in this work show the absorption peaks, which are generally observed in diamond as well as the specific one related to N in diamonds. Synthetic diamond is characterized with both the peaks of 1344 and $1128 cm^{-1}$ related to HPHT synthesis and specific $1050 cm^{-1}$ peak only observed in synthetic diamond, which can be used to discriminate natural from synthetic. Type (natural blue diamond: IIb, electron beam Irradiated blue diamond: Type Ia) can be used to discriminate natural from irradiated diamond. The intensity of specific $1450 cm^{-1}$ peak observed only in irradiated diamond is related with irradiation and annealing process.

  • Tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) has been widely used in environmental monitoring of gaseous species in the past decade. TDLAS is a direct measurement technique for pollutants such as NOx without any interference from other species. Because of its superior spectral purity (~0.001 ­$cm^{-1}$), absorption linewidths with resolvable rotational structure can be studied in the mid infrared region where strong fundamental vibrational transitions of molecules appear.   • This work forcus on the development of gas sensor that measure the concentrations of exhaust gas using diode laser. Each diode laser for exhaust gas measurement is set to work at near-IR using both DA and WMS methods. Also use of fiber-coupled optical elements makes such a sensor rugged and easy to align. On-line data acquisition and processing can be performed with a PC running LabVIEW software, and absorption signals are measured simultaneously by multiplexing method. Finally, It were experimentally compared WMS (Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy) with DA (Direct Absorption) for the accuracy.

  • It is very important to use the charge coupled devices (CCDs) in spectrometry because we can study the molecular energy level, molecular structure, absorption or emission, intermolecular reaction, weakly bound molecular energy, photochemistry, fluorescence and photodynamic therapy (PDT). CCD is very essential to study the molecular structure and medical engineering combining laser spectroscopy in the modem physicsal and chemistry. Therefore, this study has designed and manufactured the electromagnetic spectrometry with CCD and then analyzed the printed electronic circuit. In the yesterday, CCD was thought to be used in only broadcasting system. But nowadays, it is used by industrial demand in observations, instrumentations and robotics as the industry develop.

  • The spectrophotometric determination of nictotine content with barbituric acid buffer solution was carry out. Absorption maximum for the proposed solution appeared at 505 nm and the absorbance remained stable for 15 minute at pH 4.2. Lambert-Beer law was proved to be applicable in the range of nicotine concentration of $7.5\mu{g}/ml$~$25\mu{g}/ml$. According to the analysis of nicotine contents in Burley and Flue-cured tobacco leaves by this method, the relative deviation was obtained to be 2.8% in comparision with the Griffith method.
