  • 본 논문은 단기통 4사이클 전기점화기관에서 가스교환 과정이 체적효율에 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구한 것이다. 가스교환 과정의 수학적 모델을 설정하고 수치해석을 수행한 결과 체적효율은 가스교환과정과 관련되는 밸브 개폐시기(1,2)보다는 흡배기관의 압력에 의하여 더 큰 영향을 받는 다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 실험에 있어서는 각각 밸브 개폐시기가 다른 3종류의 캠을 사용하였 으며 수치 해석결과와 실험결고가 비교적 잘 일치하였다.

  • This study presents result of comparison between two other numerical method method of char-acteristics(MOC) and Lax-Wendroff method(LWM) applied at wave action analysis of intake and exhaust pipe in terms of calculated pressure velocity and emitted noise in the time and the fre-quency domain by means of fast Fourier transform analysis. Particularly FCT(Flux Corrected Transport)scheme is appended to LWM to protest unaceptable overshoots occurring near discon-tinuity. The final conclusion of this study is that MOC should be replaced by a second order finite difference approach because of larger contributions due to high frequency components than the results from the method of characteristics. Clear benefits we can get by change are faster calcula-tion higher accuracy conservation of mass and consistent calculation method.

  • The characteristic of volumetric efficiency considering gas exchange process in a reciprocating engine is presented in this paper. The characteristic method is used for solving gas exchange problems of engine system in theoretical studies. The validity of the simulation is investigated by a comparison with the results obtained by the experiment which have been performed on the practical 4-cycle, 4-cylinder gasoline engine. The relationship between the volumetric efficiency and the intake pressure variation according to configuration of intake pipe, position of branch point, valve timing, compression ratio is clarified through simulation and experiment. The results predicted by the simulation are found to be in approximate agreement with those obtained by the experiment.

Development of a Simulation Program for the Performance of Turbo-Charged Diesel Engines (과급디젤기관의 성능시뮤레이션 프로그램개발)

  • This paper describes briefly the simulation program for predicting the performance of a high speed turbocharged four cycle diesel engine. The wave phenomena in the intake and exhaust systems are calculated by the characteristic method. The combustion process in the power cycle is represented by the heat release pattern which is given by the Wiebe's function or the pattern based on measured values. Turbocharger matching for the engine is described by utilizing the characteristic maps of both the compressor and turbine, which are obtained from quasi-steady states. A comparison of experimental and calculated results shows a good agreement. Then the influences of the intake system, the period of valve overlap and the characteristics of the turbine are numerically investigated by the simulation.

  • Many simulation programs included intake and exhaust system on diesel engines have been developed. However, existing programs using 1-D numerical analytic methods in manifold gas flow by the method of characteristics have some problems to be solved.. Especially to optimzing the engine system, a simulation program which had more efficiency and accuracy is required newly. In this paper, a improved method for application limit and efficiency as well as mass conservation named constant mesh explicit method of characteristic was described. And some calculation results by this method were compared with experimental results and orther calculation results. Also, it was confirmed that the results by the proposed method were more agreed with experimental results.
