휴대폰은 통신을 위한 도구다. ‘통신’이라는 용어는 ‘인간의 의사·지식·감정 또는 각종 자료를 포함한 정보를 격지(공간적) 사이에서 주고받는 작용·작위(作爲) 또는 현상’이라고 정의하듯, 휴대폰 역시 원래 목적은 전화 연결을 통해 말을 주고받는 게 근본 기능이다. 부가적인 통신 기능으로 문자 메시지를 보내기도 하고, 파일을 주고받기도 하며, 무선 인터넷을 접속하기도 한다. 무언가 메시지를 건네기 위한 방법이 통신이라면 다음에 소개하는 방법은 어떨까? 휴대폰을 이용해서 허공에 글자를 쓰는 것도 어쩌면‘통신’의 한 방법이 아닐까?

In this paper, we outline the user interface problems that the text messaging users face to provide empirical basis for developing better improved mobile text messaging system. Our initial hypothesis was that the majority of the problems that the text messaging users face, namely, 1) difficulty in correctly understanding the intent of the incoming messages and 2) problem with frequently mis-addressing the recipient of the outgoing messages, can be accounted for by the poor usability of the text messaging user interface. Our analysis is based on the text message-based communication diaries, which were recorded for one week by each and every one of 75 college students, and survey taken from the same subjects. The data was collected in 2004. The students listed various difficulties including the limited message length, obscure input method, lack of mean to express emotional content, lack of receipt confirmation, lack of auto save feature when preparing messages to send, and lack of means to permanently save messages. Some of these problems were also identified in the previous studies. However, we were able to gather additional problems that the users face and also elicit potential solutions to remedy the problems. From these findings and analysis, we attempted to provide ways to improve the text messaging user interface.

최근 모바일 환경의 기술 발전과 더불어 그 활용분야는 더욱 확대되고 있다. 하지만 그에 따른 역기능에 대한 문제는 나날이 심각해지고 있으며, 뚜렷한 대책 마련이 미비한 실정이다. 대표적 모바일 기기인 휴대폰도 각종 범죄의 도구로 사용되고 있으며, 그에 따라 범죄수사 과정에서 법적 증거자료 획득을 위한 중요도가 높아지고 있다. 하지만 휴대폰으로부터 획득한 증거자료의 신뢰성이 결여된다면, 법적인 증거능력의 상실로 큰 혼란을 유발시키게 된다. 본 논문에서는 법적인 증거능력을 상실시킬 수 있는 휴대폰 내부 메시지에 대한 위 변조 가능성에 대해 실험적으로 증명하고, 그 위험성을 고찰하는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 또한 이를 보완하기 위해서 해쉬함수를 휴대폰 내부 시스템에 적용하는 방법을 제시하고자 한다.

Unlike face-to-face communication, text-based communication by digital media has limitations that non-verbal elements are eliminated and social presence decrease. To overcome this problem, people try to find solutions which visualize emotion and situation by using emoticons, icons, computer language and so on. As most SMS users experience the failure of using emotions on the mobile phone, they need to make up for this point. In this study, we conducted research on the recent mobile fonts situations and surveyed users' perception on SMS fonts as to suggest solutions of expressing and visualizing emotions on the mobile phone, a representative media of personal communication. As a solution of reducing the failure, we conducted a survey on users' perception about fonts and the capability of the expressing emotions by fonts. The survey found that mobile fonts can be used as a method to express human emotion. As a finding, the shape of the font can be used as a method to visualize the emotion through text messaging. In future studies, such a method can be applied to variety of different personal media with the communication method based on text. Those studies can propose different usage for fonts in communication.

휴대폰의 광범위한 보급으로 문자메시지의 사용이 급증하고 있다. 이와 동시에 사용자가 원하지 않는 광고성 스팸문자도 넘쳐나고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 스팸문자메시지를 자동으로 판별하는 시스템을 개발하는 것이다. 우리는 기계학습방법인 지지벡터기계(Support Vector Machine)을 사용하여 시스템을 학습하였으며 자질의 선택은 카이제곱 통계량을 이용하였다. 실험결과 F1 척도로 약 95.5%의 정확률을 얻었다

디지털 기기의 기능이 발달하고, 디지털 기기의 보급이 활발해 지면서 PDA, 디지털 카메라, 휴대폰 등의 디지털 장비들이 생활필수품이 되었다. 특히 휴대폰은 국내의 약 86%에 달하는 사람들이 사용하고 있는 디지털 장비로 전화통화 뿐만 아니라 문자메시지, 사진기능, 동영상 기능 등과 같은 많은 기능을 제공한다. 이러한 휴대폰은 여러 기능을 제공함에 따라 사용자와 관련된 많은 정보를 담고 있어 사건 발생 시 분석되어야 할 중요한 물품 중에 하나가 되었다. 그러나 국내 휴대폰의 경우 제조사나 모델의 종류에 따라 휴대폰 메모리 사용방식이 달라 휴대폰 분석에 많은 어려움이 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 휴대폰 포렌식 절차와 기술, 그리고 현재 국내에서 사용되고 있는 도구들에 대해 간략히 설명하고 이와 함께 국내휴대폰 포렌식 분야에서의 문제점이 무엇인지 알아보고 대안을 제시하고자 한다.

멀티미디어 메시지의 송, 수신이 불가능한 휴대폰을 가진 사용자에게 멀티미디어 메시지에 대한 접근성을 마련하기 위해 필요한 멀티미디어 송, 수신 방법과 다양한 휴대폰 능력을 고려하여 가장 적절한 멀티미디어 메시지를 서비스하기 위한 멀티미디어 메시지 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 본 논문은 3세대(G) 멀티미디어 서버와 멀티미디어 메시지 송수신 방법을 설계하여 멀티미디어 서비스의 확장성과 접근성을 제공하였다. 또한, 단말 능력 정보를 알 수 없는 Legacy 단말을 위해 단말 능력 고려 사항과 방법에 대하여 설계함으로써 Legacy 단말의 멀티미디어 데이터의 접근에 관한 효율성을 극대화하였다.

개인 휴대용 단말기의 보급률이 높아짐에 따라, SMS 메시지가 또 하나의 새로운 의사소통 수단으로 발전하였다. 특히 통화보다 가격이 저렴하고, 통화 후 따로 적어두지 않아도 자동으로 저장되는 특징으로 인해 약속 등을 정할 때 많은 도움이 된다. 본 논문은 일반적인 정보추출 방법을 적용하여 이러한 SMS 메시지에서 자동으로 약속 시간과 장소를 추출한다. 기계학습 기법으로는 CRF를 이용하였으며, 비속어나 신조어가 많고 줄임말이 많은 SMS 메시지의 특징상 토큰분리나 품사 부착 등의 전처리 언어엔진을 사용하지 않았으며, 대신 Bi-Gram 언어모델을 사용하였으며, 학습 시 사전이나 어휘 등의 다양한 자질들을 적용하여 시스템의 정확도를 높였다.

Effective information delivery between school and parents is very important in preschool and the lower classes of elementary school. It is because by the fact that the traditional method of information delivery relies on kids to deliver school information but they are not sufficiently matured enough to deliver information correctly. In this point of view, this paper proposes a new information delivery method combining internet homepage and mobile message services and develops a information delivery system to support that method. Proposed method and developed system are able to correctly deliver information within the desired time and they do not increase the burden of communication costs and teacher's works.

2005년 7월 대한민국의 휴대폰 사용자는 전인구의 75%, 약 3천5백만 이상이 사용되고 있어 무선 인터넷을 기반으로 하는 휴대폰이 유비쿼터스 시대의 새로운 패러다임으로 각광을 받고 있다. 또한 휴대폰 하드웨어와 디자인 등은 세계적인 인프라가 구축되었다. 하지만 휴대폰 콘텐츠는 완전히 초기단계를 벗어나지 못하고 벨소리, 초기화면 치장 등에 불과하다. 특히 동영상 서비스는 새로운 시장을 창출했기 보다는 답보 상태에 있어 남들이 쉽게 모방할 수 없는 엔진 개발이 절실히 필요하다. 본 논문은 휴대폰 사용자의 사랑과 따듯한 마음으로 분류된 화면에 따라 사용자가 문구를 선택하거나 입력 시키면 동화상과 함께 문구를 상대방에게 전송할 수 있는 시스템을 설계하고 구현했다.
