This paper described a results of dynamic stability by using wheel tracking test and unconfined compression test, in order to evaluate behavior characteristics on the developed pocketable expansion material for emergency restoration of ground cavity. The wheel tracking test result showed that the settlement increment ratio of the recovered ground by the expansion material was decreased compared to the sandy ground in high load condition. That is, it was confirmed that the expansion material was able to restrain the settlement due to the material stiffness, and the same results were obtained for the dynamic stability evaluation results. From the results of unconfined compression test, the pocketable expansion material was found to be able to fully support load on the restored cavity.

The major pavement distress types found in the domestic roadways include rutting, fatigue cracking, and reflection cracking which are results of the environment and repeated traffic loads. These distresses usually occur before pavements approach their design life, and therefore, a significant amount of national budget is spent for maintenance of roadway pavements. The purpose of this study is to establish a geosynthetics-asphalt pavement system. For the study, wheel tracking tests are conducted to analyze the controlling effect of geosynthetics on rutting of asphalt pavement. On the basis of these works, the reinforcement effect of geosynthetics on the rutting of the asphalt pavement is clarified and deformation characteristics of geosynthetics-asphalt mixture is examined.

옥외 절연물은 환경에 의한 오염과 수분에 의한 젖음 현상이 항상 발생하므로 폴리머 애자의 하우징 재료의 전기방전에 대한 열화내성과 우수한 발수성의 장기간 유지특성은 제품의 장기성능에 있어서 매우 중요한 물성이다. 실리콘 고무는 내열성, 내후성, 산화안정성, 발수성 및 내오염성 동 절연소재로서 우수한 특성을 가지고 있지만 하우징 표변에서의 방전이 발생될 때 옥외절연물에서의 성능은 실리콘 고무의 배합처방에 따라서 많은 차이가 나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 내트래킹 agent인 ATH의 첨가량의 변화에 따른 재료의 특성을 조사하고, 그 특성이 실리콘 고무 폴리머 애자의 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. ATH의 첨가량에 따라서 내아크성, 내트래킹성 및 표면 발수성을 조사하였고, 폴리머 애자를 내트래킹 휠 시험 및 선행오손 후 섬락전압을 측정하였다.

As the percentage of permeable ground is reduced due to the increased impermeable roads of major cities, a heat island phenomenon can be dominantly observed, resulting in increased temperature. In addition, rainfall that would have been naturally absorbed and retained by the permeable ground is overflowed due to large volumes of run-off water, resulting in more sewer failures and increased erosion. In terms of permeable pavement system, block paving has been used anywhere as well as provides many years of service. The permeable block paving is an effective alternative to the more traditional asphalt or plain concrete for minor roads; furthermore, it looks a lot better than other pavements. In this study, the functional drainage evaluation of block paving was carried out, considering the usage of experimental sludge and wheel tracking test, in order to simulate the field condition of roads.

국내 도로포장의 주요 파손형태는 주변환경 및 반복 교통하중 조건에 의한 소성변형(rutting), 피로균열, 반사균열, 온도균열 등이 있는데, 포장이 설계수명에 도달하기 이전에 주로 발생하며 이로 인한 도로포장의 유지관리에 막대한 국가예산이 낭비되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 토목섬유 아스팔트 포장 시스템을 체계적으로 정립하기 위해 휠트래킹 시험과 균열저항성 시험을 수행하여 토목섬유 아스팔트 포장의 소성변형 및 균열 저항성을 분석하였다. 이러한 실험결과를 통해 아스팔트 포장에서의 토목섬유 보강 효과가 평가되었다.

The southwestern part of Korean Peninsula, which length is about 13,000 km, is largely formed with soft cohesive soil ground and when it is developed, the low bearing capacity and excessive settlement of soft ground give many problems. In particular, a lot of clayey soil is deserted due to high moisture content and weakness, and areas formed with soft ground. In this study it was performed unconfined compression test, CBR tests, laboratory frost heaving test, and wheel tracking test in order to determine the optimum mixture ratio of paper sludge ash added chemical stabilizer with soft soil for consideration of its frost heaving and strength characteristics. As a results of the above experiments, when the soft soil is mixed with 6% of chemical stabilizer to improve the soft soil for utilizing as a subgrade soil material. It is satisfied the quality standard of fill materials, and the results of this research are expected to be used as an appropriate usage standard for utilization of on-site soil generated.

This study presents the mechanical characteristics, such as the permanent deformation and the crack, of the large stone asphalt mixtures. The large stone mixture was studied by Kandhal at NCAT(National Center for Asphalt Technology) in 1989. Japan and Arabian countries adopted the large stone mixture for the pavement construction. The experience and the study results showed that the interlocking of the aggregate system of the large stone mixtures is stable and less dependent on the binder characteristics in high temperature. These properties are known as the rutting resistant parameters. However, the mechanical test results should be supported to prove the benefits of the large stone mixtures. The creep test, resilient modulus tests on three different temperature, wheel tracking test and ravelling tests were conducted to evaluate the performance of the large stone mixtures in this study. The test results were compared with the conventional mixtures and modified asphalt concrete mixtures. The large stone mixtures showed better rutting resistance performance.

The major distress types in the domestic asphalt pavement are fatigue cracking, reflection cracking, thermal cracking, and rutting. To decrease the pavement distress by reinforcing asphalt pavement with reinforcement interlayer in geosynthetics to the traditional pavement systems can improve these problems. This study conducted laboratory test with asphalt pavement reinforced by glass fiber sheet to fix systematically geosynthetic asphalt pavement system. Laboratory tests like wheel tracking test and crack resistance test are conducted to analyze the controlling effect of glass fiber sheet on cracking and rutting of asphalt pavement.

Polymeric composite insulators are used for outdoor insulation. However, our knowledge about their long-term performance in an outdoor environment is still very limited. The electrical stress caused the surface of these insulators to become degradation. In order to evaluate the tracking resistance of polymer insulators, we performed the tracking wheel test which is recommended by CEA LWIWG-01. And the flashover voltage tests were conducted for understanding electrical characteristics after tacking wheel test. Also, these insulators are studied by characterization methods such as contact angle measurement, SEM, etc.

This study dealt with size effect of specimen in measuring deformation strength and estimating rut resistance of asphalt concretes under static loading using Kim test. Two aggregates, a normal asphalt (pen 60-80) and 6 polymer-modified asphalt (PMA) binders were used for preparation of 14 dense-graded mixtures. Mixtures were prepared based on optimum asphalt content by Marshall compactor (S= 10cm) and gyratory compactor (S= 15cm) for Kim test and for wheel tracking test. In statistical analysis by general linear model (GLM) procedure of SAS, the diameter of specimen was found not to be a significant factor that affect the Kim test result. Therefore, it was found that either loom-diameter or 15cm-diameter of specimen gave no significant difference in deformation strength ($K_D$) values in Kim test for any aggregate mixture. However, the thickness of specimen was found to be a significant factor in determining $K_D$. It is estimated that $K_D$ is a function of y, vertical deformation, and y has something to do with thickness of specimen. Therefore, it is suggested that the thickness of specimen should not be higher than 6.6cm, and the correction factor depending on the thickness value should be developed in the future study.
