  • Around-View, the image processing device which increases the comfort of drivers is sold in the market. This system prevents accidents in advance while driving or parking. The accidents are caused with their inexperienced driving or bad visibility. It is developed for driving convenience. However, it dosen't spread to the driver widely due to the problem of the high installation costs and complex installation process. First, expensive equipment second, difficult development environment and third, inconvenient installation procedure. So the drivers don't have many opportunities to use this system and dare to develop this system. I think if one of the problems can be solved, users might be able to access this system at low cost. In this paper, the AVM(Around-View Monitoring) minimizes two of them. Expensive equipment, inconvenient installation. The costly problems were solved by using low-cost USB device and rear cameras. In view of inconvenient installation process, the new system was designed to make it easy for people to install it. Through this, it can ease the burden of consumers.

The Design of the Obstacle Avoidances System for Unmanned Vehicle Using a Depth Camera (깊이 카메라를 이용한 무인이동체의 장애물 회피 시스템 설계)

  • With the technical development and rapid increase of private demand, the new market for unmanned vehicle combined with the characteristics of 'unmanned automation' and 'vehicle' is rapidly growing. Even though the pilot driving is currently allowed in some countries, there is no country that has institutionalized the formal driving of self-driving cars. In case of the existing vehicles, safety incidents are frequently happening due to the frequent malfunction of the rear sensor, blind spot of the rear camera, or drivers' carelessness. Once such minor flaws are complemented, the relevant regulations for the commercialization of self-driving car and small drone could be relieved. Contrary to the ultrasonic and laser sensors used for the existing vehicles, this paper aims to attempt the distance measurement by using the depth sensor. A depth camera calculates the distance data based on the TOF method calculating the time difference by lighting laser or infrared light onto an object or area and then receiving the beam coming back. As this camera can obtain the depth data in the pixel unit of CCD camera, it can be used for collecting depth data in real-time. This paper suggests to solve problems mentioned above by using depth data in real-time and also to design the obstacle avoidance system through distance measurement.

  • 본 연구는 차량이 정차해 있거나 차량을 후진하여 이동시키고자 할 때 운전자의 시야에 보이지 않는 차량의 후방 좌 우측에서 접근하는 차량 또는 보행자와 같은 움직임을 가지는 물체와 충돌을 회피하기 위한 방법에 관한 연구이다. 해당 물체와 충돌을 피하기 위해서는 후방의 영상을 획득하여 움직임을 가진 물체를 식별하고 차량과의 거리, 속도 및 충돌 가능성을 계산할 수 있어야 한다.

  • 최근 네비게이션, GPS 등과 같은 운전 보조를 위한 장치 및 DVD 플레이어 등과 같은 운전자의 인포테인먼트 요구를 위한 장치 등 다양한 차량용 ECU들이 등장하고 있다. 차량용 네트워크를 통해 다양한 ECU들을 연결하여 상호 협력을 통해 ECU 고유 기능뿐만 아니라 추가의 기능을 수행할 수 있는 다양한 기술도 활발히 연구되고 있다. 차량용 네트워크를 통해 다양한 ECU들이 연결되어 상호 동작하기 위해서는 다양한 ECU 및 네트워크를 관리하는 서버 역할을 할 수 있는 고성능의 Car PC 의 장착이 필수적이다. 기존 AVM 시스템은 차량 주변 상황을 실시간으로 제공하기 위해 임베디드 시스템 또는 SOC의 형태로 개발되었다. 그러나, Car PC가 차량에 장착되면 AVM 시스템을 추가의 비용이 없는 소프트웨어로 구현할 수 있다. 이를 위해서는 차량 주변 영상을 실시간으로 제공할 수 있도록 카메라 보정 같은 영상 처리 모듈의 성능이 실시간 영상을 제공할 수 있는 성능을 갖추어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 차량의 전 후방 및 좌 우측에 장착된 4대의 카메라로부터 입력된 차량 주변 상황을 한눈에 보여주는 AVM 시스템을 위해 카메라 보정 및 통합 처리를 위한 모듈을 스레드(thread)를 이용하여 설계하고 구현한다. 또한, 제안하는 영상 처리 모듈의 성능과 스레드를 사용하지 않는 방식의 영상 처리 모듈의 성능을 비교 분석함으로써 제안하는 영상 처리 모듈을 이용하여 추가의 비용이 없는 소프트웨어 AVM 시스템의 구현 가능성을 검증한다.

Comparative Analysis of Exterior Orientation Parameters of Smartphone Images Using Quaternion-Based SPR and PnP Algorithms (스마트폰 영상정보를 활용한 쿼터니언 기반 후방교회법과 PnP 알고리즘의 외부표정요소 비교 분석)

  • The SPR (Single Photo Resection) is widely used as a method of estimating the EOPs (Exterior Orientation parameters) at the time of taking a photograph, but it requires an initial value and has a disadvantage of being sensitive to the initial value. In this study, we introduce quaternion-based single photo resection and PnP (Perspective-n-Point) algorithm that do not require initial values and compare the results. Photos were taken using a general smartphone, and the ground control point acquisition was based on the hybrid MMS (Mobile Mapping System) point cloud data possessed by the researchers. As a result, when the collinear condition based SPR is true value, quaternion-based SPR has higher attitude angle estimation accuracy than PnP algorithm. In case of camera position estimation, both algorithms showed accuracy within 0.8m when compared with ground control points.

  • For the efficient and stable operation of autonomous vehicles or advanced driver assistance systems being actively studied nowadays, it is important to determine the positions of the vehicle accurately and economically. A satellite based navigation system is mainly used for positioning, but it has a limitation in signal blockage areas. To overcome this limitation, sensor fusion methods including additional sensors such as an inertial navigation system have been mainly proposed but the high sensor cost has been a problem. In this work, we develop a vehicle position estimation algorithm using in-vehicle sensors and a low-cost imaging sensor without any expensive additional sensor. We determine the vehicle positions using the velocity and yaw-rate of a car from the in-vehicle sensors and the position and attitude of the camera based on the single photo resection process. For the evaluation, we built a prototype system, acquired test data using the system, and estimated the trajectory. The proposed algorithm shows the accuracy of about 40% higher than an in-vehicle sensor only method.

  • A Compton X-ray backscatter technique has been developed to quantitatively assess impact damage in quasi-isotropic laminated composites made by a drop-weight tester. X-ray backscatter imaging system with a slit-type camera is constructed to obtain a cross-sectional profile of impact-damaged laminated composites from the electron-density variation of the cross section. A nonlinear scattering model based on Boltsman equation is introduced to compute Compton X-ray backscattering field for the defect assessment. An adaptive filter is also used to reduce noises from many sources including quantum noise and irregular distributions of fibers and matrix in composites. Delaminations masked or distorted by the first delamination are detected and characterized effectively by the Compton X-ray backscatter technique, both in width and location, by application of error minimization algorithm.

Biomechanical Research on Forward Gait with Backward Mechanism (후진 보법을 이용한 전방향 보행의 생체역학적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate possibility of a forward gait with backward mechanism(dance gait) as rehabilitation and/or walking exercise by means of biomechanical variables. Thirteen professional women dancers(age, $21.1{\pm}1.3yrs$; height, $159.3{\pm}7.2cm$; body mass, $45.1{\pm}8.4kg$)participated in this study. We found that speed, stride length and double limb support time of a dance gait were more greater than backward gait, but stride width of dance gait less than a backward gait. Maximum RoMs, moments and powers of the lower limb joints on a dance gait were more frequent than a backward dance. These results were judged to be sufficient by the possibility of dance gait as rehabilitation and walking exercise.

  • 기존 연구에서의 어라운드뷰 모니터링 시스템은 차량에 설치하는 과정에서 호모그래피 행렬 획득 시 평균점을 이용한 호모그래피 변환 방법을 사용했으나, 영상의 흐릿함과 어긋난 매핑을 개선하기 위해 전체점을 이용한 호모그래피 변환 방법이 제안되어 사용되었다. 하지만 전체점을 이용한 호모그래피 변환 방법은 수동적으로 호모그래피 행렬을 획득해야 한다. 그러나 호모그래피 행렬 획득 과정을 자동화한다면 전체점을 이용한 호모그래피 변환 방법이 가진 장점을 모두 살리면서 어라운드뷰 모니터링 시스템을 차량에 설치하는 과정이 단순해진다. 본 논문에서는 차량의 전 후방 및 좌 우측에 장착된 4대의 카메라를 입력받아 카메라 보정 및 호모그래피 변환 측정 과정을 거쳐 차량 주변 상황을 한눈에 보여주는 어라운드뷰 모니터링 시스템 중 호모그래피 변환 측정 과정을 자동화하여 전체 어라운드뷰 모니터링 시스템을 단순화하는 자동 호모그래피 변환 방법을 설명한다. 또한 제안하는 자동 호모그래피 변환 방법을 이용하여 자동화된 어라운드뷰 모니터링 시스템의 구현 가능성을 검증한다.

DOF Correction of Heterogeneous Stereoscopic Cameras (이종 입체영상 카메라의 피사계심도 일치화)

  • In this paper, we propose a DOF (Depth of Field) correction technique by determining the values of the internal parameters of a 3-D camera which consists of stereoscopic cameras of different optical properties. If there is any difference in the size or the depth range of focused objects in the left and right stereoscopic images, it could cause visual fatigue to human viewers. The object size of in the stereoscopic image is corrected by the LUT of zoom lenses, and the forward and backward DOF are corrected by the object distance. Then the F-numbers are determined to adjust the optical properties of the camera for DOF correction. By applying the proposed technique to a main-sub type 3-D camera using a GUI-based DOF simulator, the DOF of the camera is automatically corrected.
