Analysis on the Applicability of Roundabout to the Diamond Interchange (다이아몬드 입체교차점에서의 회전교차로 도입에 따른 운영효과 분석)

  • The purposes of the study is to comparatively analyze the applicability of roundabout to the diamond interchange. In pursuing the above, this study give the particular attentions to comparing the performances of roundabout with those of TWSC and signalized intersection based on the aaSIDRA software. The main study results are as follows. First, when the entering traffic volumes(ETV) are more than 480pcph, the single-lane roundabout is analyzed to be more effective than 4-leged unsignalized intersection and when ETV are $480{\sim}1,880pcph$, double-lane roundabout is analyzed to be more effective than 4-legged intersection Second, when ETV are more than 980pcph at the single-lane intersection and $1,600{\sim}3,680pcph$ at the double-lane intersection, roundabout is analyzed to be more effective than other 3-legged intersections. In summary, when the roundabout installs at the interchange, it is important to consider the range of ETV.

Interaction of Binocular Disparity and Pulfrich Effect in the Perception of Rotation Direction and Depth of a Transparent Rotating Cylinder (회전방향과 깊이 지각에서의 양안부등과 Pulfrich 효과의 상호작용)

  • Pulfrich effect implies the possibility that motion information is processed by the system that processes depth information, and this possibility by supported by various neurophysiological studies. Although Pulfrich effect is processed by the system that processes binocular disparity, the representative depth information, there has not been a psychophysical research to determine the characteristics of the interaction between Pulfrich effect and binorular disparity using a stimulus containing the two information sources. Present research examined the characteristics of the interacation between Pulfrich effect and binocular disparity by nenuring the depth and rotation direction of a rotating cylinder comprised of random dots under two different conditions: 1) consistent rendition where the Pulfrich effect and binocular disparity depth the depth and rotation direction of the cylinder in a consistent manner 2) inconsistent rendition where they did not. , The perceived depth of the cylinder in the consistent condition was larger than that in disparity/Pulfrich effect only condition. Interestingly, the perceived rotation direction of the cylinder in the inconsistent condition was modulated by the relative strength of the disparity and the Pulfrich effect. These results imply that binocular disparity and Pulfrich effect are processed by a common neurophysiological methanism.

  • 전통적으로 3차원 애니메이션에서 캐릭터의 동작에 관한 연구는 주로 동작의 사실적인 표현에 중점을 두고 있다. 그러나 이러한 사실적인 애니메이션은 전통적인 2차원 애니메이션에 익숙한 관객들이 어색함을 느끼는 원인이 되기도 한다 이로 인해 전통적인 2차원 애니메이션의 기법을 3차원 애니메이션에 적용하는 비사실적 (non photorealistic) 애니메이션 기법이 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 전통적인 2차원 애니메이션기법 중 하나인 기대 효과(anticipation effect)를 3차원 애니메이션의 캐릭터 동작에 적용하는 자동화된 방법을 제시한다. 전통적인 2차원 애니메이션 기법에 따르면 기대 효과는 애니메이션을 더 설득력 있고 풍부하게 만드는 역할을 한다고 알려져 있다. 기대 효과는 주요한 동작이 일어나기 이전에 반대 방향의 동작이 이루어지는 것으로 나타난다. 3차원 애니메이션에서 캐릭터의 동작은 각 관절의 회전과 캐릭터 중심의 이동으로 표현되기 때문에, 주요한 동작에 대하여 각 관절의 회전과 캐릭터 중심의 이동에서 반대 방향의 움직임을 찾아 주요한 동작 이전에 연결하는 것으로 기대 효과의 동작을 표현할 수 있다. 모션 캡쳐나 키 프레임 방법을 통해 미리 제작된 애니메이션 파일로부터 기대효과를 생생하기 위해 동작 데이터를 분석하여, 기대 효과의 추가가 필요한 주요 동작의 각 관절별 회전을 외삽하여 반대 방향의 회전 움직임을 생생하고 무게 중심의 이동을 예측하여 주요 동작과 반대 방향의 움직임을 갖는 기대 동작을 생성한다. 이후, 생성된 기대 동작과 원래의 동작을 기대 효과의 타이밍을 고려하여 합성하는 것으로 기대효과가 포함된 자연스러운 애니메이션 동작을 얻을 수 있다.

Rotation Invariant Face Detection Using HOG and Polar Coordinate Transform

  • In this paper, a method for effectively detecting rotated face and rotation angle regardless of the rotation angle is proposed. Rotated face detection is a challenging task, due to the large variation in facial appearance. In the proposed polar coordinate transformation, the spatial information of the facial components is maintained regardless of the rotation angle, so there is no variation in facial appearance due to rotation. Accordingly, features such as HOG, which are used for frontal face detection without rotation but have rotation-sensitive characteristics, can be effectively used in detecting rotated face. Only the training data in the frontal face is needed. The HOG feature obtained from the polar coordinate transformed images is learned using SVM and rotated faces are detected. Experiments on 3600 rotated face images show a rotation angle detection rate of 97.94%. Furthermore, the positions and rotation angles of the rotated faces are accurately detected from images with a background including multiple rotated faces.

Comparative Analysis of Operational Effectiveness Related to the Conversion of Rotary to Roundabout in Korea (국내 로터리의 회전교차로 전환에 따른 운영효과 비교분석)

  • This study deals with the effectiveness of roundabout. The goal is to comparatively analyze the operational effectiveness related to the conversion of rotary to roundabout in Korea. In pursuing the above, this study gives particular attentions to investigating the existing 20 rotaries and developing the networks of before-and-after improvement using VISSIM, and comparatively analyzing the effectiveness. The domestic rotaries were analyzed to need many improvements of geometric structure for the effective operation of roundabout. The main results are as follow. First, when the present condition of traffic volume were applied, the operational effect of rotary were evaluated to be better than roundabout, but the difference analyzed to be small. Second, the average delay per vehicle in the rotaries of urban area were analyzed to rapidly increase according to the growth of traffic volume. Finally, the average speed of roundabout were evaluated to be less (about 10km/h) than that of rotary, because the traffic volume of rural area were less than that of urban area.

  • 본 연구에서는 유한 회전에 의한 효과를 고려한 곡선 보요소를 개발하고, 이 요소를 이용하여 공간뼈대 구조물의 기하학적 비선형 해석을 수행하였다. 이 곡선 보요소는 증분 변위장에 Rodriguez의 2차 유한 회전항을 포함시킴으로써, 유한 회전에 의한 기하학적 평형을 유지하도록 하였다. 대변형 해석을 위하여 Total Lagrangian 방법이 적용되었으며, 비선형 해석을 수행하기 위한 알고리즘으로는, 여러개의 임계점을 갖는 비선형 거동가지도 추적할 수 있도록 하중 및 변위 증분의 조합법이 사용되었다. 공간 뼈대 구조물의 해석 예제를 통하여, 기하학적 비선형 해석에서 발생하는 유한 회전에 의한 효과를 확인하고, 본 연구에서 제안한 유한요소의 효율성 및 비선형 알고리즘으로 선택한 하중 및 변위 증분의 조합법의 적용성을 입증하였다.

Development of Magnus Effect Measurement Technique for Spinning Projectile (회전 발사체용 마그너스 효과 특정기법의 개발)

  • The Magnus effect measurement apparatus was designed and built for spinning wind tunnel model which would simulate the rotation of projectiles. Prior to the high speed test, the ground functional test and the low speed test were carried out in the Agency for Defense Development's Low Speed Wind Tunnel(ADD-LSWT) at spin rates from about 6,000 to 10,000 rpm. Magnus force and moment were measured on the spinning projectile model at velocity of 100 m/s. It was shown that the Magnus force and moment were linear function of spin parameter. The test results were compared with Magnus test run on the same configuration in the Arnold Engineering Development Center's Propulsion Tunnel 4T(AEDC-4T).

  • 본 연구는 적은 감쇠(damping) 효과를 가지면서도 안정적으로 의복의 움직임을 생성할 수 있는 시뮬레이션 방법을 제안한다. 최근 의복 시뮬레이션 분야에서는 뛰어난 수치적 안정성을 지닌 암시적 적분법(implicit integration)이 널리 이용되어 왔다. 그러나, 암시적 적분법은 선형화 과정에서 과도한 감쇠효과가 발생하고, 이 감쇠효과는 내부 변형 없는 회전이동 시에도 과도하게 나타나므로, 옷감의 회전 이동이나 주름의 자연스런 움직임을 크게 방해한다. 본 연구는 불필요한 감쇠효과를 줄이고 안정적으로 의복의 움직임을 표현할 수 있는 새로운 암시적 적분법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법용 선형화 과정에서 발생하는 내부 감쇠력을 회전이용이 아닌 순수한 내부 변형에 대해서만 발생하도록 모델링하며, 이렇게 계산된 내부 감쇠력을 역학식에 안정적으로 반영한다. 실험 결과는 제안하는 방법이 기존의 방법들에 비해 보다 다양한 재질의 옷감을 과도한 감쇠 효과 없어도 안정적으로 실시간에 생성할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

Study of Blood Characteristics in Stenosed Artery under Human Body Rotation by Using FSI Method (FSI 기법을 적용한 인체 회전 시 협착 혈관에서의 혈류 특성)

  • In this study, we performed a numerical analysis to investigate the effect of rotation on the blood flow and arterial wall behavior by using the FSI (fluid-structure interaction) technique. The geometry of the artery included 50% stenosis at the center. To simulate the rotational effect, 2-6 rps of axial velocity was applied to the arterial model. A spiral wave and asymmetric flow occurred due to the stenosis and axial rotation both in the rigid body model and in the FSI model. However, the arterial wall motion caused periodic and transient blood flow changes in the FSI model. The FRZ (fluid recirculation zone) decreased in the FSI model, which is a known predictor for the formation and vulnerability of plaque. Therefore, it is observed that arterial wall motion also influences the generation of the FRZ.

Operational Effectiveness of Roundabout by the Change of Pedestrian Traffic Volume (보행교통량 변화에 따른 회전교차로의 운영효과)

  • This study deals with the operational effectiveness of roundabout. The roundabout is currently under consideration in our country depending on the result of existing researches, that the roundabout decreases delay and is environmentally friendly compared to the signalized intersection. The purpose of the study is to analyze the operational effectiveness of the roundabout by the change of pedestrian traffic volume. In pursing the above, this study gave particular emphasis to designing a network of roundabout, developing some scenarios for analysis including both entering traffic volume and pedestrians volume, and comparatively analyzing the average controlled delay time per vehicle. In this study, VISSIM model was used as a tool for traffic simulation. The main results are as follows. First, as a result of analyzing a traffic delay based on the pedestrian traffic volume, pedestrian traffic volume was analyzed to have a great impact on the roundabout operation. Second, the more pedestrian traffic volume were evaluated to indicate the more traffic delay. When the entering volumes with 1,000persons/hour (pedestrian volume) were more than 800pcph in the single-lane and 1,600pcph in the double-lane roundabout, the operational efficiencies of signalized intersections were evaluated to be better than those of roundabouts.
