A Numerical Study on the Semi-Rigid Behavior of Steel Tubular Column to H Beam Connection with Exterior Square-Plate Diaphragms (직각판형 외다이아프램 각형강관기둥-H형강보 접합부의 방강접거동에 관한 해석적연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of semi-igid behavior of the steel tubular column to H-beam connection reinforced with exterior square-plate diaphragms and to check the main parameters that affect this behavior. Steel tube connections without interior diaphragm and/or complicated exterior diaphragm show the considerable flexibility due to out of-plane deformation of tube flange. For the exact analysis well-reflected the effect of this flexibility on the overall frame performance. it need to find out the moment-rotation curve function that well trace the result of experiment in the whole region and the function should be simply transformed into an adequate form for the nonlinear analysis program. After collecting several test data same to the connection type considered. we carried out FEM analysis using ANSYS for the assumed beam-to-column connection developed from the simple tension test and the results are compared with experimental values. Based on the parametric study. we proposed the moment-relation curve function and performed the multiple-regression analysis procedure for three parameters consisting of this function with the main geometric parameter of this connection type.

Nonlinear Analysis of Rubber Bellows for the High Speed Railway Vehicle (고속철도차량 갱웨이 벨로우즈의 비선형 해석)

  • Gangway bellows in this study is the double wrinkled neoprene rubber component to accept various deviations between the carriage end parts of the articulated type high speed railway vehicle(HSRV). The fatigue failure of the bellows has a harmful effect on the riding comfort for the passengers with the increase of noise and ringing in the ears due to air-tightness failure during pass through a long tunnel. In this study, to assure the safety of gangway bellows of the HSRV, non-linear analysis of the gangway bellows considering triaxial angular displacement(rolling /yawing/pitching) between the carriage end parts are performed. The non-linear properties of the rubber are determined by uniaxial tension and equi-biaxial tension test. Moreover, from the results of non-linear analysis, the effects of the angular displacements and frictional coefficients are evaluated.

Experimental Study of Micro hydropower with Vortex Generation at Lower Head Water (저낙차에서 와류발생부를 구비한 마이크로 소수력에 관한 실험 연구)

  • This paper described a laboratory investigation of micro hydropower at lower head water in a free vortex flow. The vortex height, turbine rotation and torque for straight blade with inner curved edge, twisted blade and curved blade were investigated at the flow rate of 0.0069 ㎥/s in the inlet channel. The results showed that the optimum vortex strength occurred within the range of the diameter of basin to the outlet diameter ratios of 0.17~18.5. The power output and efficiency of straight blade were higher as compared to other blades. The highest amount of generated energy was 12.33 W, the torque was 0.91 N·m and the highest efficiency by considering effective head was 29.5 %, whereas the highest efficiency by considering vortex height was 80.5 % at the rotational speed of 132 rpm. The water vortex velocity of straight blade was about 2.8 times larger than the mean velocity in the inlet channel.

  • In the process of finding the triangle height, 26 students in the 6th grade were surveyed to understand the students' triangle height through the eye movement data and to investigate the cognitive load of the students. As a result, the correctness rate of the pre-test was significantly increased in the post-test, and the frequency and retention of gaze data were smaller in the post-test than in the AOI of each question. The Participants's subjective cognitive load indicated that it was more difficult to understand the concept of rotated triangles compared with upright triangles that were parallel to the ground. More frequent and more retentions in the eye-tracking data were detected in the right triangles and acute triangles by rotating configuration. Eye movement data show that eye tracking technology can provide an objective measure of students' cognitive load for feedback on instructional design.

  • The Horseshoe appliance was introduced by Dr. Schwarz, and it is used to correct sagittal relationships by elastic force in class III malocclusion. It minimizes the increment of lower anterior facial height and allows the mandible to be repositioned harmoniously with the soft tissue and muscle matrix of the jaw It has the advantages of better patient cooperation, easier construction, and more effective modification. In the patients who were treated with Horseshoe appliance, forward growth of maxilla and counterclockwise rotation of occlusal plane with labioversion of maxillary incisors and linguoversion of mandibular incisors were obtained. Minimum downward and backward rotation of mandible was accepted, so increasing of lower anterior facial height was minimized.

Full-field Distortion Measurement of Virtual-reality Devices Using Camera Calibration and Probe Rotation (카메라 교정 및 측정부 회전을 이용한 가상현실 기기의 전역 왜곡 측정법)

  • A compact virtual-reality (VR) device with wider field of view provides users with a more realistic experience and comfortable fit, but VR lens distortion is inevitable, and the amount of distortion must be measured for correction. In this paper, we propose two different full-field distortion-measurement methods, considering the characteristics of the VR device. The first is the distortion-measurement method using multiple images based on camera calibration, which is a well-known technique for the correction of camera-lens distortion. The other is the distortion-measurement method by measuring lens distortion at multiple measurement points by rotating a camera. Our proposed methods are verified by measuring the lens distortion of Google Cardboard, as a representative sample of a commercial VR device, and comparing our measurement results to a simulation using the nominal values.

  • This paper proposes a control method for a differential robot to track and follow a moving object based on ultrasonic sensor. To track a target object, the method uses a transmitter and two receivers to get distances from the object. The method derives translational and rotational error by the distances and then it uses the errors to calculate control values based on PID control method. The control values are used to control the robot to follow moving object. The authors do some experimentations to analyze some characteristics such as influence of PID gain, influence of translational and rotational gain. This method not only can be applied for following moving object problem but also can be done group unit control problems.

  • Stealth technology is a technique to avoid detection from detectors such as radar and infrared seekers. In particular, detection by infrared signature is more threatening because infrared missiles detect heat from the aircraft itself. Therefore, infrared stealth technology is essential for ensuring the survival of aircraft and unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAV). In this study, we analyzed aerodynamic and infrared stealth performance in relation to UCAV nozzle design. Based on simulation results, a double serpentine nozzle was effective in reducing the infrared signature because it could shield high-temperature components in the engine. In addition, we observed that the infrared signature was reduced at the turning position of the duct located at the rear part of the double serpentine nozzle.

Ethanol-pretreated Drying of (+)-dihydromyricetin for Removal of Residual Solvents (잔류 용매 제거를 위한 (+)-dihydromyricetin의 에탄올 전처리 건조)

  • In this study, a drying method that can effectively remove residual solvent from (+)-dihydromyricetin was developed. Residual acetone concentration was efficiently removed below ICH-specified value (5,000 ppm) by simple rotary evaporation with ethanol pretreatment. In addition, the residual ethanol met the ICH-specified value (5,000 ppm) by simple rotary evaporation through the addition of water, and the residual moisture also met the specified value (<4%) for active pharmaceutical ingredients. At all the drying temperature (35, 45, and 55 ℃), a large amount of the residual solvent was initially removed during the drying, and the drying efficiency increased when increasing the drying temperature. Removal of residual solvent by ethanol pretreatment was shown to be related to high vapor pressure of acetone-ethanol mixture and hydrogen bonding between acetone and ethanol.

A Study on the Flow Rate Performance of Plunger-Type High-Pressure Pump for Compression Ignition Engine Using DME as Fuel (DME를 연료로 하는 압축 착화 엔진 용 플런저식 고압펌프의 유량 성능 연구)

  • DME, a clean fuel that is being studied as an alternative fuel for diesel engines, can reduce exhaust gas, which is the one of the crucial problems of diesel engines, and has a very high cetane number and high oxygen content. DME is a fuel has properties similar with LPG and can use the infrastructure of LPG. In this study, The target was to build a database of basic data on the mass flow rate discharged for the performance evaluation of the plunger-type high pressure pump. In this study, the mass flow rate of the DME plunger type high pressure pump was analyzed by changing the common rail pressure and the motor rotation speed. The experimental conditions were the common rail pressure was changed from 300 to 500 bar and the motor rotation speed was changed from 300 to 1000 rpm. In addition, basic mass flow data were constructed to high-pressure pumps for DME. As a result of the experiment, in both cases the mass flow rate was increased.
