지식경영과 전자정보환경에서 회색문헌의 중요성이 새롭게 부각되고 있다. 그 중요성에 비해 도서관이나 정보센터에서의 회색문헌의 수집 및 관리가 소홀했다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 전통적 회색문헌의 개념과 더불어 인터넷과 정보기술의 발달에 따른 회색문헌의 변화를 살피고자 한다. 또한 지식경영과 회색문헌과의 관계, 회색문헌 관리시 고려사항과 생산주체별 회색문헌 DB 구축사례를 제시함으로써 회색문헌과 관련된 도서관 및 정보센터의 역할을 살피고자 한다.

과학기술분야의 연구개발에 있어서 회색문헌이라고 불리우는 자료에 대한 중요성이 증가하면서 회색문헌을 수집하고 처리하여 필요로 하는 수요자에게 적절히 배포하는 것에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 또한 인터넷과 정보기술의 발달로 수집한 회색문헌을 데이터베이스화하거나 원문을 제공하는 시스템도 증가하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 회색문헌에 대한 정의, 종류, 속성과 더불어 선진각국의 회색문헌 관련 현황을 파악하여 앞으로의 회색문헌 관련 사업의 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

Despite of the importances, grey literatures are often overlooked as a resource in libraries because they have always had the reputation of being obscure and difficult to locate. Thus, an information system and network for the management of grey literature is essential to the improvement of Korean R&D in science and technology. The Results of the research are as follow : - Declare the clear definitions and types of grey literatures - Suggest the utilizing methods of grey literatures - Identify the major functions or requirements of National Information Center on Grey Literature.

Grey literature is a non-Public data only for nonprofit users. Some of the major grey literatures are technical report, Proceeding, and thesis. For their Promptitude, these sources are core of research and development. According to a research on the academic qualify. grey literatures have higher usage rates than books-articles excluded. Also, the usage of foreign grey literature by librarians of research organization was investigated. The result was that over 90 percent of the researchers were demanding the original text of the foreign grey literature. In addition, librarians pointed out that the time-consuming problem and the lack of published information was a hindrance to using grey literature. For the centralized management of grey literature. they wanted an alliance structure.

The purposes of the study were to identify the characteristics and types of grey literatures, to investigate the factors restricting the sharing of grey literatures in Korea, and to make recommendations for the efficient collection and utilization system of grey literatures being produced and managed by either government agencies or government-supported research institutes in Korea. A survey instrument was designed to measure the current status of grey literature management systems and to elicit expert opinions from information professionals in information centers for an efficient system of grey literatures. It was found that information professionals considered the technical reports as the most important type of grey literatures, but maps and dissertations as the least important type of information value. Related to the participation for the central system of grey literatures, many respondents preferred to utilize the grey literatures owned by other information centers, but they showed a neutral interest level in sharing their information centers' grey literatures with other centers.

Grey literature can be used as a substantial resource in Research & Development but it has trouble to manage. This study aimed at getting a better way to manage the grey literature by grasping the present problems in collecting, organizing and using the grey literature. This research studied the definition, type, and characteristics, usabilities of grey literature from the related materials and it performs the case study on how to manage the grey literature in major institutions. Finally, it suggested management method of various materials through the in-depth interview with the staffs in charge of managing grey literature in government institutes.

Grey literature which is dealing with the recent research outcomes has been neglected because of its difficulties in getting production information and collecting full-text. The research is about the characteristics, types and distribution tendencies of recently spot lighted electronic grey literature. It also analysed the current situation of producing and supplying the domestic electronic grey literature. The result showed that the level of providing the grey literature differed depending on the organization at present and, as a whole, didn't reach the level to fully satisfy the user's information needs. The research introduces the problems in utilizing electronic grey literature base on its results and specifically provides the ways to activate the use of grey literature.

본 연구의 목적은 바이오인포매틱스 분야의 회색문헌과 백색문헌의 초록을 대상으로 단어 동시출현(word co-occurrence)네트워크 분석을 통해 해당 분야의 연구 동향을 비교 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2010년부터 2012년까지 발표된 회색문헌인 회의자료(proceeding)와 백색문헌인 학술논문(journal article)의 초록을 SCOPUS, IEEEXplore, Microsoft academic search에서 수집하였다. 단어 동시출현 네트워크를 분석한 결과 회색문헌의 주요 연구는 분석도구 및 방법으로, 백색문헌의 주요 연구는 바이오인포매틱스의 주요 연구대상인 유전자 발현, 단백질 서열 및 구조 등으로 나타났다.

In this study, it was investigated if there were some differences on the preference of researchers to grey literature among seven different subjects in the field of science and technology using citation analysis. The result shows that there were some differences among researchers, depending on the subject area. It also appears that the preference of grey literature of researchers is dissimilar in journals in English and journals in Korean, regardless of the subject area. Finally, partial correlation coefficient among nine different types of material was counted with the control of languages used and subject areas included. Among nine types of cited documents, the value of partial correlation coefficient between proceedings and miscellaneous is larger than that of any other coupled comparison This means that researchers who cite articles from proceedings tend to include information from miscellaneous at the same time.
