  • The goal of this study is to propose a new method to capture the qualitative person spatial behavior. Beyond tracking or indexing the change of the location of a person, the changes in the relationships between a person and its environment are considered as the main source for the formal model of this study. Specifically, this paper focuses on the movement behavior of a person near the boundary of a region. To capture the behavior of person near the boundary of regions, a new formal approach for integrating an object's scope of influence is described. Such an object, a spatio-temporally extended point (STEP), is considered here by addressing its scope of influence as potential events or interactions area in conjunction with its location. The formalism presented is based on a topological data model and introduces a 12-intersection model to represent the topological relations between a region and the STEP in 2-dimensional space. From the perspective of STEP concept, a prototype analysis results are provided by using GPS tracking data in real world.

  • Recently, some fashion retailers have initiated sustainable actions in the form of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities to address consumers' social concerns. This study intends to combine the concept of CSR motivation attributions with brand extension literature in order to examine how consumers' trust of a parent brand affects their CSR motivation attributions and ultimately their attitudes towards parent-brand CSR activities and sustainable extension lines. A self-administered online survey was conducted using scenarios describing a fast fashion retailer introducing a sustainable line. Data from 303 female U.S. consumers, aged between 18 and 34 years, were used for the statistical analysis. Data analyses were conducted using SPSS 21.0 for descriptive analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and regression analysis. The results revealed that all hypotheses were supported. The findings show that consumers' trust of a parent brand has an indirect impact on positive attitudes towards the parent brand's CSR activities as well as the sustainable extension product line, mediating positive evaluations of the brand's social CSR motivations. In addition, this study suggests consumers' prior trust of the parent brand is a variable that affects consumers' evaluation of CSR motivation sincerity. Marketing suggestions and thoughts based on the findings of this study were provided.

  • Paul Rudolph's early work in Florida after World War II is a significant example of the regional transformation of typical Modern Architecture through the spatial composition based on the diversity and use of local material and construction methods. Paul Rudolph's concept of a Florida House design is the expression of regional material, construction, and structural system through the spatial extension & connection based on periodical, regional characteristics. The characteristics of the Florida works is the spatial extension & connection design based on the wood structural framework through the various design factors, such as a screen roof, open roof, and internal patio as the spatial extension and link method. Paul Rudolf designed the house using local materials, such as cypress wood and lime block produced near the Florida Area and provided details & technology considering the Florida climate and construction environment. Through studies of Paul Rudolph's Florida works, the Florida Houses can be a prototype of localization, and can be presented as the spatial & technical transformation of design by the historical, cultural, regional background.

  • In order to support overlay multicast with scalability and reliability, in this paper, we introduced a new multicast tree construction method and a regional multicast. The architecture we introduce efficiently transmits streaming data to the users from multicast source in an environment in which non-multicast network and multicast network. The new multicast tree construction method enables the connection with a remote relay which is an optimum condition in case there is no relay in subnet. Besides, by defining a new service type to traffic class of IPv6 header, a selective adoption or FEC and a distinctive transmission became possible. In order to verify the effect of the solution we suggested, we embodied an environment which is similar to the actual service environment by a simulator and tested it. The result of the test shows that the proposed method is more efficient than the traditional unicast approach method and the existing overlay multicast.

  • Scalable displays generate large and high resolution images and provide an immersive environment. Recently, scalable displays are built on the networked clusters of PCs, each of which has a fast graphics accelerator, memory, CPU, and storage. However, the distributed rendering on clusters is a network bound work because of limited network bandwidth. In this paper, we present a new algorithm for reducing the network bandwidth and implement it with a conventional distributed rendering system. This paper describes the algorithm called geometry tracking that avoids the redundant geometry transmission by indexing geometry data. The experimental results show that our algorithm reduces the network bandwidth up to 42%.

  • Cloud computing has been evolved to support edge computing architecture that combines fog management layer with edge servers. The main reason why it is received much attention is low communication latency for real-time IoT applications. At the same time, various cloud task scheduling techniques based on artificial intelligence have been proposed. Artificial intelligence-based cloud task scheduling techniques show better performance in comparison to existing methods, but it has relatively high scheduling time. In this paper, we propose a deep learning-based dynamic scheduling with multi-agents supporting scalability in edge computing environments. The proposed method shows low scheduling time than previous artificial intelligence-based scheduling techniques. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, we compare the performance between previous and proposed methods in a scalable experimental environment. The results show that our method supports real-time IoT applications with low scheduling time, and shows better performance in terms of the number of completed cloud tasks in a scalable experimental environment.

  • This paper studies static crack growth of asphalt pavement using the extended finite element method (XFEM). To consider nonlinear characteristics of asphalt concrete, a viscoelastic constitutive equation using the Maxwell chain is used. And a linear cohesive crack model is used to regularize the crack. Instead of constructing the viscoelastic constitutive law from the Prony approximation of compliance and retardation time measured experimentally, we use a smooth log-power function which optimally fits experimental data and is infinitely differentiable. The partial moduli of the Maxwell chain from the log-power function make analysis easy because they change more smoothly in a more stable way than the ordinary method such as the least square method. Using the developed method, we can simulates the static crack growth test results satisfactorily.

  • This study aims to develop a system that enables users employing PC and VR devices to collaboratively analyze data visualizations in a remote environment. The system provides a task-oriented node-link control interface to aid users in understanding the visualization analysis process and effectively distributing roles. Additionally, it offers a network environment where multiple users can collaborate and receive feedback on visualization analysis even when physically separated. To elucidate the collaborative analysis method implemented in the system, we designed a scenario. Furthermore, we conducted a pilot experiment to evaluate the system's usability with participants majoring in related fields. The experimental results confirmed that users can freely analyze data through easily comprehensible interface manipulations in an extended reality space, and efficiently conduct real-time collaborative analysis in a remote environment.
