Evaluation Methods for the Removal Efficiency of Physical Algal Removal Devices (물리적 녹조 제거 장치의 제거 효율 평가 방안)

  • In response to the periodic occurrence of cyanobacterial blooms in Korean freshwaters, various types of cyanobacteria removal technologies are being developed and implemented. Due to the differing principles behind these technologies, it is difficult to compare and evaluate their removal efficiencies. In this study, a standardized method for evaluating cyanobacteria removal efficiency was proposed by utilizing the results of removal operations using a mobile cyanobacteria removal device in the Seohwacheon area of Daechung Reservoir. During removal operations, the decrease in chlorophyll-a (chl-a) concentration (ΔChl-a) in the working area was calculated based on the amount of collected sludge, the efficiency rate, and the concentration of chl-a. Additionally, the required working days (WD) to reduce the chl-a concentration to 1 mg/m3 in the target area was calculated based on the area of the target zone, the maximum daily working area, and the efficiency rate. A method for calculating the cyanobacteria removal capacity was proposed based on the reduction rate of chl-a concentration in the water before and after the operation, the treatment capacity of the removal technology, and the water volume of the target area. The cyanobacteria removal capacity of the mobile cyanobacteria removal device used in this study was 6.64%/day (targeting the Seohwacheon area of Daechung Reservoir, approximately 500,000 m2), which was higher compared to other physical or physicochemical cyanobacteria removal technologies (0.02~4.72%/day). Utilizing the evaluation method of cyanobacteria removal efficiency presented in this study, it will be possible to compare and evaluate the cyanobacteria removal technologies currently being applied in Korea. This method could also be used to assess the performance and efficiency of physical or physicochemical combined cyanobacteria removal techniques in the "Guidelines for the Installation and Operation of Algae Removal Facilities and the Use of Algae Removal Agents" operated by the National Institute of Environmental Research.

  • 본 논문은 레이크 수신기의 성능 개선에 관한 것으로 다중 경로 페이딩에 의한 시간 지연으로 나타나는 자기 간섭이 제거된 DS-CDMA/QPSK 신호의 성능을 분석하였다. 자기 간섭 제거를 위해 새로운 레이크 수신기를 제안하고 제안된 수신기의 시스템 성능은 차량 이동통신 환경, 실내 이동통신 환경과 실외에서 실내로 이동중인 환경으로 구분하여 레일리 페이딩 환경에서 분석하였다 제안된 레이크 수신기는 적용한 DS-CDMA 시스템의 합성 수신 SNR 증가로 오율 성능이 개선되었으며 시뮬레이션 구현으로 성능 개선을 확인할 수 있었다.

Effect of Humic Substances on the Simultaneous Removal of Nitrate and Phosphate in a Micellar-Enhanced Ultrafiltration (MEUF) (미셀 한외여과(MEUF)를 이용한 질산성 질소와 인산의 동시제거 시 휴믹산의 영향)

  • The effect of humic acid on the simultaneous removal of nitrate and phosphate was investigated in a micellar-enhanced ultrafiltration (MEUF). At the low molar ratio of cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) to contaminants, the removal of nitrate was lower to 50% by 100 ppm of humic acid due to the competition for binding on micelles. At the molar ratio higher than 3, however, the removal of nitrate was over 80%. Phosphate was removed over 80% at the molar ratio higher than 1. The CPC and humic acid were rejected over 99 % by UF membrane. The flux did not decrease by 100 ppm of humic acid but rather slightly increased since the humic acid adsorbed on the membrane made the membrane more hydrophilic. As a result, humic acid did not diminish the performance of MEUF in the simultaneous removal of nitrate and phosphate.

  • Fine dust in air pollutants is recognized as one of the most serious social environmental problems. Most of the NOx is generated in a combustion process such as that of a coal-fired power plant, and therefore efficient elimination of the NOx from the coal-fired power plants is needed. This study investigates the removal efficiency of using $TiO_2$, a photocatalyst, to remove NOx by Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). To evaluate the NOx removal efficiency, $TiO_2$ catalyst and phosphate binder were mixed on the surface of the $Al_2O_3$ substrate with the exothermic agent, and the substrate was heat-treated. The NOx removal efficiency of the catalysts was evaluated according to the temperature, and XRD, SEM, TG-DTA and BET analyzes were performed to investigate the physicochemical properties of the catalysts. NOx removal efficiency was 58.7%~65.9% at 20min, 63.7~66.0% at 30min with temperature change according to time($250^{\circ}C{\sim}500^{\circ}C$). The $TiO_2$ used in the SCR for NOx removal is judged to have the most efficient removal efficiency at $300^{\circ}C$.

  • 본 논문에서는 불완전 동기(Imperfect Synchronization)로 인한 칩 동기 에러(timing errors)와 위상 에러(phase errors)를 고려 하여 비동기(Asynchronous) DS-CDMA 시스템의 성능을 이론적으로 분석하였다. 성능 개선 기법으로는 다단 간섭제거기 (Multistage PIC)와 부분 다단 간섭제거기(Partial Multistage PIC)를 채용하였고 칩 동기 에러와 위상 에러가 두 간섭제거기의 간섭제거능력에 미치는 영향의 정도를 정량적으로 분석하였다. 성능분석 결과로부터 칩 동기 에러와 위상 에러로 인한 1단(no cancellation)에서의 성능 열화가 각 단의 상관기 출력(decision statistic)에 영향을 줌으로써 다단 간섭제거기와 부분 다단 간섭제거기의 성능 개선폭을 감소시켰다. 그렇지만, 불완전 동기에도 불구하고 단(stage) 수가 증가할수록 두 간섭제거기 모두 강한 간섭제거능력을 보였다. 실제 시스템에서는 성능 개선과 구현상의 복잡도를 동시에 고려해야하므로 다단 간섭제거기 보다 구조가 간단하고 계산량이 적은 부분 다단 간섭제거기의 활용도가 높아질 것이 예상된다.

A Study on the Denoising Method by Multi-threshold for Underwater Transient Noise Measurement (수중 천이소음측정을 위한 다중 임계치 잡음제거기법 연구)

  • This paper proposes a new denosing method using wavelet packet, to reject unknown external noise and white gaussian ambient noise for measuring the transient noise which is one of the important elements for ship classification. The previous denosing method applied the same wavelet threshold at each node of multi-single sensors for rejecting white noise is not adequate in the underwater environment existing lots of external noises. The proposed algorithm of this paper applies a modified soft-threshold to each node according to the discriminated threshold so as to reject unknown external noise and white gaussian ambient noise. It is verified by numerical simulation that the SNR is increased more than 25㏈. And the simulation results are confirmed through sea-trial using multi-single sensors.
