Characteristics of TiO2 Particle Generation and Transport in Diffusion Flame Reactor (확산 화염 반응기에서의 TiO2 입자생성 및 전달현상)

  • We prepared the nano-sized $TiO_2$ particles by the diffusion flame reactor and investigated the effects of several process variables on the generation and transport properties of $TiO_2$ particle. As the length from the tip of diffusion flame reactor increases, the size of $TiO_2$ particle increases by the coagulation between particles. The structure of $TiO_2$ particles prepared is almost found to be anatase. It was found that the $TiO_2$ particle size depends more largely on the change of reactor temperature than on the change of inlet $TiCl_4$ concentration.

By the photo-degradation experiment of phenol and toluene with the prepared $TiO_2$ particles, we found that the photo-degradation efficiencies of phenol and toluene change, depending on the process variables such as size of $TiO_2$ photocatlysts, concentration of phenol or toluene. Degradation efficiencies of phenol and toluene was above 90% in our experiments in 60 minutes.

  • This study has been mainly motivated to numerically model the supercritical mixing and combustion processes encountered in the liquid propellant rocket engines. In the present approach, turbulence is represented by the extended $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model. To account for the real fluid effects, the propellant mixture properties are calculated by using SRK (Souve-Redlich-Kwong) equation of state. In order to realistically represent the turbulence-chemistry interaction in the turbulent nonpremixed flames, the flamelet approach based on the real fluid flamelet library has been adopted. Based on numerical results, the detailed discussions are made for the real fluid effects and the precise structure of gaseous methane/liquid oxygen coaxial jet flame.

  • 극초음속 여객기와 군사용 항공기에 대한 수요가 증가함에 따라서 새로운 개념의 다양한 추진기관이 연구가 진행되고 개발되어 왔다. 초음속 항공기의 속도 영역은 마하 10-20 정도가 되는데 이 속도 한계를 극복하기 위하여 초음속 연소 램제트 엔진(SCRamjet; Supersonic Combustion Ramjet)이 제안되었다. 스크램 제트를 개발하기 위해서는 연료와 산화제의 혼합 효율 문제, 화염의 안정화 문제, 벽면의 냉각에 관한 문제 등 몇 가지 기본적인 문제들을 해결해야 한다. Univ of Michigan에서 실험한 연소기를 모델로 본 연구에서는 연료와 공기의 혼합에 관한 수치 연구를 수행하였다. 다원 혼합기체에 관한 축대칭 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 지배 방정식을 이용하였고 비평형 화학반응식을 고려하였다. 공간 차분에는 유한 체적법을 이용하였다. 대류 플럭스 항은 Roe의 Upwind FDS 기법을 사용하여 차분하였고 점성항에는 중심 차분법을 이용하였다. 시간 적분법으로는 근사 자코비안과 LU분할 기법을 이용한 완전 내재적 방법이 쓰였다. 난류 모델로는 Mentor에 의해 제안된 2 방정식 k-$\varepsilon$/k-$\omega$ 혼합모델을 사용하였다. 유동장이 실험에서의 찍은 사진과 유사한 모습의 충격파 간섭을 수치 모사하였고 수소가 확산되는 모습과 함께 노즐 lip 주위의 재순환 영역에 대해서 살펴볼 수 있었다.

Structure and Characteristics of Diffusion Flaame behind a Bluff-body in a Divergent Flow(II) (확대유로내의 Bluff-Body 후류확산화염의 구조 및 특성 2)

  • In order to elucidate the effects of positive pressure gradient on flame properties, structure and stabilization, an experimental study is made on turbulent diffusion flame stabilized by a circular cylinder in a divergent duct flow. A commercial grade gaseous propane is injected from two slits on the rod as fuel. In this paper, stabilization, characteristics and flame structure are examined by varying the divergent angle of duct. Temperature, ion current and Schlieren photographs were measured. It is found that critical divergent angle is expected to be about 8 ~ 12 degree through blow-off velocity pattern to divergent angle and the positive pressure gradient influences the flame temperature, intensity of ion current and eddy structure behind the rod. With the increase of divergent angle, typical temperature of recirculation zone is low but intensity of ion current is high in shear layer behind rod. Energy distributions of fluctuating temperature and ion current signals turn up low frequency corresponding to large scale eddies but high frequency corresponding to small scale eddies as well as low with the increase of divergent angle. Therefore the flame structure becomes a typical distributed-reacting flame.

  • the liquid oxygen transitions to a supercritical state, causing rapid changes in properties and pseudo boiling in supercritical combustion. the combustion reaction operating in a supercritical state depends on the turbulence diffusion caused by difference of density, therefore, a study of the diffusion flow and pseudo boiling is required. Many researchers have studied these phenomena in the supercritical combustion, but A case study by various variables is inadequate. In this study, the flow field and flame structure were investigated numerically by changing the recirculation flow and liquid oxygen core length through oxygen-fuel ratio(O/F), combustor diameter and recess ratio at supercritical pressure condition.

  • An Oxy-fuel combustion has been studied in order to reduce exhaust emissions and fuel consumption. The flow and flame behaviors are analyzed with focal length variation in one-focussing oxygen burner introduced in this study. Oxygen is supplied into the center of the nozzle, methane fuel is into the outer nozzle of the center, and then oxygen is again supplied into the outer of the fuel nozzle. The test conditions are 5 focal lengths of 100mm to 500mm. The mixing behaviors and temperature distributions are analyzed. The result shows that the shorter the focal length is, the longer the mixing length becomes, and the flame width and length are the biggest in the case of 300mm.

A Study on the Application of Bushings Fire Prevent Structure to Prevent Fire Spread of Transformer (변압기의 화재확산 방지를 위한 부싱 방화구조체 적용에 관한 연구)

  • Electric power which is the energy source of economy and industries requires long distance transportation due to regional difference between its production and consumption, and it is supplied through the multi-loop transmission and distribution system. Prior to its actual use, electric power flows through several transformations by voltage transformers in substations depending on the characteristics of each usage, and a transformer has the structure consisting of the main body, winding wire, insulating oil and bushings. A transformer fire that breaks out in substations entails the primary damage that interrupts the power supply to houses and commercial facilities and causes various safety accidents as well as the secondary economic losses. It is considered that causes of such fire include the leak of insulating oil resulting from the destruction of bottom part of bushings, and the chain reaction of fire due to insulating oil that reaches its ignition point within 1 second. The smoke detector and automatic fire extinguishing system are established in order to minimize fire damage, but a difficulty in securing golden time for extinguishing fire due to delay in the operation of detector and release of gas from the extinguishing system has become a problem. Accordingly, this study was carried out according to needs of active mechanism to prevent the spread of fire and block the leak of insulating oil, in accordance with the importance of securing golden time in extinguishing a fire in its early stage. A bushings fireproof structure was developed by applying the high temperature shape retention materials, which are expanded by flame, and mechanical flame cutoff devices. The bushings fireproof structure was installed on the transformer model produced by applying the actual standards of bushings and flange, and the full scale fire test was carried out. It was confirmed that the bushings fireproof structure operated at accurate position and height within 3 seconds from the flame initiation. It is considered that it could block the spread of flame effectively in the event of actual transformer fire.

Reactive Fields Analysis of Hybrid Combustor Under Different Arrangements of Oxidizer Injectors (하이브리드 연소기의 산화제 주입기 배열 특성에 따른 반응유동장 해석)

  • The combustion characteristics of End-Burning hybrid combustor using different types of injector system are numerically investigated to visualize the temperature fields in the combustion chamber The basic characteristics of combustion with different O/F ratio is also analyzed in order to capture the main behavior of diffusion flame inside the swirl induced hybrid combustion chamber It was found that the arrangement of oxidizer injectors give strong effect on the temperature field dominating mixing between fuel and oxidizer. The results show that among five different oxidizer injectors arrangement, the counter flow injector has the highest mixing efficiency. However, the observed high wall temperature presence near the oxidizer injectors remains to be solved.

  • 화재란 사람의 의도에 반하거나 고의에 의해 발생하는 연소현상으로서 소화시설 등을 사용하여 소화할 필요가 있는 것을 말한다. 사람의 의도에 반한다고 하는 것은 과실에 의한 화재를 의미하며 화기취급 중 발생하는 실화뿐만 아니라 부작위에 의한 자연발화도 포함하며, 고의에 의한다고 하는 것은 일정한 대상에 대하여 피해발생을 목적으로 화재발생을 유도하였거나 직접 방화한 경우를 말한다. 연소현상이라 함은 가연성 물질이 산소와 결합하여 열과 빛을 내며 급속히 산화되어 형질이 변경되는 화학반응을 말한다. 소화시설 등을 사용하여 소화할 필요가 있다는 것은 화재란 연소현상으로서 소화의 필요성이 있어야 하며 소화의 필요성의 정도는 소화시설이나 그와 유사한 정도의 시설을 사용할 수준 이상이어야 한다. 화재원인조사란 발화부를 판단하고 화재에 이르게 된 발화원을 규명하며, 발화부로부터 연소확대된 경과를 조사하는 일련의 행위로서 화재원인조사시 가장 중요한 사항은 발화부 판단인 바, 이는 화재원인이 발화부에만 존재하기 때문이다. 최근에는 다양한 소재의 사용으로 인해 일단 화재로 진행될 경우 인명 및 재산상 피해가 증가하게 되어 있으며, 이로 인해 화재조사시 화학, 물리, 전기, 건축, 기계, 소방 등 다양한 지식과 화재현장에 대한 이해가 요구된다. 화재현장 조사시 발화부 판단의 과학적 접근은 매우 중요한 것으로서, 화재원인의 명쾌한 규명으로 책임한계 구분은 물론, 유사사고의 재발방지를 위한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 기 발생한 화재사례에서 얻은 화재패턴을 분석하여 얻은 자료를 통해 발화부를 판단할 수 있는 조사방법을 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 1) 화재시 열전달과 화염확산 과정에서 건축구조물, 내장재, 집적물 및 각종 설치물의 구조, 재질 등에 따라 다양한 화재패턴을 형성하게 됨을 알 수 있다. 2) 화재패턴의 종류로는 화재플럼에 의한 삼각형, 주상, V, U 패턴 등이 있으며, 연소 생성물인 화염, 연기, 열 등에 의해 다양한 형태를 보임을 알 수 있다. 3) 위와 같은 결과를 종합하여 연소의 상승성, 불꽃 및 연기 흔적, 열에 의한 흔적 등에 의해 연소의 방향성을 알 수 있다. 4) 결국 화재현장에서 명확한 화재원인을 규명하기 위해서는 화재패턴에 의해 연소확대과정을 역으로 추적하여 발화부를 결정한 다음, 발화부내에서 화재원인을 찾아내야 할 것이다.
